Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to turn and leave when she detected something amiss with the room.

Cheng Xiaoxiao could faintly hear someone moaning. It was so faint that it resembled a kitten’s meowing.

She pricked her ears and listened carefully. Other than the thunderous palpitation of her heart, she could clearly hear the sound of a man gasping deeply in the room.

Cheng Xiaoxiao naturally recognized this sound. She had watched plenty of movies. Also, she knew the voice well since they were together all the time.

Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t have the same kind of courage as she did when she interrogated Xiao Qin earlier. Now, she didn’t dare to move at all.

This was simply strange. She was terrified of going into the room and didn’t dare to confirm the thoughts running through her head.

She ought to run in and interrogate the people inside the room, but she didn’t have the courage to even enter it.

Cheng Xiaoxiao did not expect herself to be such a coward. Just thinking about it made her want to laugh.

Before long, more noise could be heard from the room. This time, Cheng Xiaoxiao heard it with even greater clarity.

A woman could be heard sobbing. From the sound of it, someone had covered her mouth so that she could no longer speak.

It kept urging her to enter the room. Once she entered the room, she would come to know the truth.

However, Cheng Xiaoxiao was unable to move her legs no matter how hard she tried. She had great difficulty moving and was unable to even make the first step.

Despite the short distance, Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though she was standing in a completely different world from the room.

Even though there was only a door in between them, it had completely segregated them.

The noise in the room abruptly stopped. In an instant, it was so quiet in the room and outside that only Cheng Xiaoxiao’s loudly palpitating heart was audible.

Where had all the noise gone?

In just a matter of seconds, Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though she was struck by lightning and was granted superhuman hearing.

She could hear the sound of clothing rustling inside the room and the sound of Wan Xia flicking her hair.

Also, Cheng Xiaoxiao could see Wan Xia biting her lips. More importantly, she could see the man’s eyes.

She could see the man’s deep dark eyes…

Perhaps owing to her hallucination, she blinked and salty fluid trickled down her eyes onto her broken nails.

The piercing pain instantly made Cheng Xiaoxiao snap out of her thoughts. She finally found the courage to open the door with her paws. She had opened the door with her injured front paw.

Cheng Xiaoxiao inhaled deeply before jumping through the door. The moment she landed firmly inside the room, the sweet scent in the room nearly made her sneeze.

It was Wan Xia’s fragrance!

Why was the scent so intense? It felt as though someone had toppled an entire bottle of perfume on the ground.

Cheng Xiaoxiao almost couldn’t breathe. She did her utmost to hold her breath and couldn’t help thinking of what Xiao Qin said about how good Wan Xia smelled.

Sure enough, there was no one at the study desk and even the windows were tightly shut.

Cheng Xiaoxiao did not dare to open the windows. She was afraid the people inside the room might hear her.

Was she afraid they would hear her?

Cheng Xiaoxiao found this ironic.

If they were making out inside, it was wrong of her to interrupt, but she was going to do just that.

Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to inhale deeply and compose herself so that she could mentally prepare herself before showing up in front of them.

The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao took a small breath, she felt choked by the fragrance in the air. She wanted to cough but was incapable of doing it. Her eyes instantly turned teary and her nose became runny as she choked on the fragrance.

Oh no. Now, she was incapable of even looking presentable as she went in.

Cheng Xiaoxiao felt she kept getting herself caught in awkward situations.

Cheng Xiaoxiao felt impressed that she was still in the mood to complain.

Also, she was still able to laugh.

Cheng Xiaoxiao wiped the sticky tears and snot from her face with her paws before walking in furtively.

In reality, Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t have to do this. She had forgotten that she was in cat form now.

She did not foresee using her physical advantage at a time like this.

Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though she was out catching her husband for adultery. Then again, she did not have the right to even nab Chu Yunshen for infidelity.

She was not Chu Yunshen’s lover at all.

That was right. Wan Xia always blushed like this whenever she got excited or felt shy and her translucent porcelain skin would turn slightly pink.

Cheng Xiaoxiao stood where she was as she looked at Wan Xia’s beautiful butterfly bones. Even though Cheng Xiaoxiao used to want a figure just like Wan Xia’s, she was incapable of feeling envy now.

Wan Xia was dressed in a light red belly wrap which was bulging at the chest with mandarin ducks floating on water embroidered on it. Cheng Xiaoxiao found the sight of it jarring to the eyes.

Cheng Xiaoxiao disregarded the scent and gasped for air like a dying fish stranded on the beach.

Chu Yunshen seemed to sense someone else in the room. He swiftly flipped over, pulled the blanket from the bed, and covered Wan Xia with it while he blocked Wan Xia from prying eyes with his body. He sternly shouted at the door without even raising his head, “Get out!”

Get lost?

How could he tell her to leave?

Cheng Xiaoxiao suddenly wanted to laugh. She found this absolutely hilarious.

Although Cheng Xiaoxiao was accustomed to sleeping with Chu Yunshen in cat form, she treated Chu Yunshen like her future husband.

Even though it was purely wishful thinking on her part, she genuinely liked him.

She knew Chu Yunshen probably only treated her as a pet cat and she just happened to be a very intelligent lion cat. Since they were not the same, it was impossible for him to have the same feelings as she did.

Despite that, Cheng Xiaoxiao had to admit she had fallen for Chu Yunshen’s tenderness.

She was obsessed with Chu Yunshen’s love for her. Now that he was asking her to leave, she could not help feeling heartbroken and breathless.

It felt as though 1000 needles were stabbing her heart repeatedly in the same spots.

Chu Yunshen wasn’t dressed either. After he traded positions with Wan Xia, Cheng Xiaoxiao was able to see his scar filled back.

Cheng Xiaoxiao saw the most prominent scar on Chu Yunshen’s back and suddenly found its sight unbearable.

Chu Yunshen had gotten the scar when he protected her from the men dressed in black. However, Chu Yunshen was no longer protecting her and it was someone else lying in his arms now.

Cheng Xiaoxiao found everything ridiculous and ironic. She could even sense her stomach turning and wanting to vomit.

Chu Yunshen stared at the white furry creature standing at the entrance with his mind in a blur.

He seemed to have forgotten something important, but he was unable to recall what it was.

Chu Yunshen turned to look at the woman dressed in blue in front of him as she looked back at Chu Yunshen with her large limpid eyes.

Chu Yunshen pulled the blanket around the woman even more tightly without hesitation this time.

How could he protect her? Was he afraid someone would see her? Or was he afraid Cheng Xiaoxiao would hurt her?

“Meow!”

Cheng Xiaoxiao finally snapped out of the shock. She could no longer bear the sight and meowed piercingly.

Chu Yunshen didn’t get startled by the sudden meowing. Instead, he was stunned and was incapable of wrapping his mind around it.

It felt as though he was in so much pain that his head was about to blow up as memories surged in his mind.

The cat kept meowing and sounded like a child crying.

Images of the lion cat in front of him kept flashing in Chu Yunshen’s mind.

There were images of him feeding the lion cat fish soup. He could see the lion cat holding his hand and licking his fingers. Also, the lion cat kept rubbing against him in his chest adorably…

These images kept emerging in his mind telling him to wake up.

An unknown folk song kept reverberating in his ears as someone embraced him inside the old well with her blood-stained hands…
