Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 174
Chapter 174 Xiao Yue acting strange
Cheng Xiaoxiao was wondering what the alarm was for. She got such a shock that she did not even dare to breathe hard. It turned out she had simply forgotten the lunch box.
It was no big deal at all! Wan Xia could go back for it after Cheng Xiaoxiao was done eating.
Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t expect Xiao Yue to be even more anxious. She promptly urged Wan Xia to go back for it right away.
“Miss Wan Xia, why don’t you go back for the lunch box first? What if you get into trouble?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Xiao Yue quizzically. She found Xiao Yue’s logic inconceivable.
Chu Yunshen was alone in the room and he was not the sort of person to punish a woman for something as minor as this.
Wan Xia’s face turned even paler when she heard what Xiao Yue said. She hurriedly wanted to leave with the lion cat. “I wouldn’t be as scared if it were anyone else. I didn’t clean up and take the lunch container and His Highness is a very clean man, so I am worried…”
However, Chu Yunshen had given Wan Xia the green light to take Cheng Xiaoxiao out!
What had gotten over Wan Xia? Was her depression affecting her memory?
Xiao Yue muttered as well, “I don’t know what His Highness would think about this, but I heard people saying he tended to get mood swings…”
Mood swings?
Well, that was certainly true.
Cheng Xiaoxiao thought about how Chu Yunshen always punished Xiaowu. He had driven all the women out of the residence. Also, he would lock her in a cage whenever she snuck out…
In hindsight, Cheng Xiaoxiao wasn’t sure how Chu Yunshen what feel about this anymore.
What if Chu Yunshen simply said okay earlier because he was too distracted with his reading? No one else was serving him in the room. If Chu Yunshen noticed the mess in his room after he was done reading…
Even Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t dare to consider what he might do.
Wan Xia should just head back. From the looks of it, she could only look at the food and didn’t have the good fortune of eating it!
Cheng Xiaoxiao lowered her dejectedly and shrank back into Wan Xia’s arms. Wan Xia felt bad when she saw how disappointed the lion cat was.
“Why don’t you stay with Xiao Yue and eat a little before going back?”
Wan Xia lowered her head to look at the miserable lion cat in her arms and asked, “I will go take care of His Highness. After you are done eating, I will come back for you. Just like how you always sneak out for fun. What do you think?”
That was a great idea!
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt embarrassed since she was thinking the same thing.
She simply felt bad getting Wan Xia to cover for her and risk Chu Yunshen’s wrath if he found out. After all, Chu Yunshen had just given the order for Wan Xia not to let her overeat.
What if…
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced at the piping hot food on the table behind her as she struggled to come to a decision…
Cheng Xiaoxiao would just have a small snack. She would eat at top speed and swore not to get Wan Xia in trouble.
Cheng Xiaoxiao rubbed against Wan Xia’s arm hard. After rubbing Wan Xia for a long time, she finally raised her little head and nodded.
“In that case, let’s meet at the corridor in 30 minutes, okay?”
Wan Xia dragged her last word, so her voice sounded particularly soft and mesmerizing.
She seemed to adore squeezing the lion cat’s face. She placed Cheng Xiaoxiao’s chubby little face between her hands and squeezed the center of her cheeks with her thumbs and index fingers before shaking her slightly.
The lion cat swayed her head along to Wan Xia’s movement with her eyes rolling around.
Wan Xia was instantly tickled by the lion cat’s comical behavior. She wanted to reach your hand out to touch the lion cat’s chin, but Xiao Yue interrupted her.
“Miss Wan Xia, you really should hurry up! Let’s not waste any more time. Don’t worry. I am here to handle things!”
The moment Xiao Yue finished her sentence, she reached her hand out to carry Cheng Xiaoxiao, but Cheng Xiaoxiao surprisingly evaded her nimbly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao wrested herself free effortlessly and jumped onto the table.
“Don’t try to carry her. Just make sure she is fed.”
Wan Xia knew the lion cat didn’t like being in close proximity of random people, so she reminded Xiao Yue not to fight it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao did not have a problem with Xiao Yue. She simply didn’t like it when Xiao Yue interrupted her and Wan Xia.
Although she knew Wan Xia ought to go back and retrieve the lunch box before Chu Yunshen caught on to it, Cheng Xiaoxiao liked being with Wan Xia. She loved Wan Xia’s sweet scent and couldn’t get enough of it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao simply assumed she felt this way because they were friends. Also, she wanted to spend as much time as she could with Wan Xia.
Moreover, Xiao Yue kept acting as though she was the only person who genuinely cared about Wan Xia, so Cheng Xiaoxiao felt jealous of her.
She was Wan Xia’s best friend, so Xiao Yue could only be number three at best. After all, Xiao Qin came in second even in death.
Although Cheng Xiaoxiao felt a little annoyed, she waved her paw like a sensible cat and smiled to Wan Xia. Cheng Xiaoxiao had spent a lot of time practicing before finally achieving some success.
Wan Xia hurriedly opened the door as Cheng Xiaoxiao waved before she darted out. Cheng Xiaoxiao seemed to catch Xiao Yue raising her fists to wish Wan Xia good luck as Wan Xia left swiftly.
Why did Xiao Yue do that?
Why would Wan Xia need encouragement?
After Xiao Yue sent Wan Xia to the door and watched her leave, she checked left and right cautiously again before she closed the door gently when she confirmed the coast was clear.
That was not all. There was a tiny gap in the window, but Xiao Yue closed the window tightly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had a nagging feeling that Xiao Yue was up to something today.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was staring so blatantly that Xiao Yue seemed to detect Cheng Xiaoxiao looking at her. After closing the door, Xiao Yue turned to look at Cheng Xiaoxiao.
This time, Xiao Yue had put on a fake smile. The smile was so awkward that Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t stand looking at her.
What was Xiao Yue up to this time?
Cheng Xiaoxiao had already turned her head back, but she pondered before she hurriedly turned to glance at Xiao Yue once more.
Xiao Yue continued giving her forced smiles. They were so fake that they seemed plastered to her face.
She simply stood with her back facing the door as she looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao without going over to Cheng Xiaoxiao or leaving the room.
If she did not come over to help, how could Cheng Xiaoxiao eat?
Why hadn’t Cheng Xiaoxiao noticed Xiao Yue’s stupidity previously? Her instincts were genuinely non-existent.
Cheng Xiaoxiao could only count on herself if she wanted to eat.
Cheng Xiaoxiao jumped onto the table and went straight for the fish soup at the center and placed her front paws on the edge of the soup bowl.
She reached her tiny pink tongue and licked the warm milky white soup unhurriedly. She was in such bliss that she narrowed her eyes happily.
This was good stuff!
Drinking soup before eating was key to staying healthy!
Cheng Xiaoxiao feasted happily. She would start with some soup, followed by fish cake, chicken before she finally got to the milk paste and pastry.
After hearing what dishes Wan Xia had made on their way here, Cheng Xiaoxiao immediately thought about the order she would consume them in. Now, she was cheerfully gobbling the food.
However, it was a little troublesome for her to eat since Cheng Xiaoxiao was a cat. She could only use her paws and mouth at the same time in order to place the food into her mouth.
Xiao Yue covered her chest and exhaled softly as she watched Cheng Xiaoxiao get completely engrossed by the food.
It would be perfect if Cheng Xiaoxiao voluntarily ate the food so that she did not have to force her to stay put.
By this time, Wan Xia had probably gotten to Chu Yunshen’s room. Xiao Yue leaned against the door as she smiled happily. She watched as Cheng Xiaoxiao attacked the boiled chicken end decided to sit down at the table.
“Let me help you!”
Xiao Yue’s unexpected enthusiasm left Cheng Xiaoxiao pleasantly surprised.
What was going on?
She was a lofty queen. How could she get so easily touched? Darn it!
Cheng Xiaoxiao reflected for three seconds before she gave up altogether and let Xiao Yue help her with the food.
After all, she could not say no to food.
She would eat first and go back to normal later!
Cheng Xiaoxiao enjoyed Xiao Yue’s service while Xiao Yue smiled satisfactorily before she slowly fed Cheng Xiaoxiao.
They came to a strange sort of truce in the kitchen.
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao was busy chowing down, she failed to detect the jade pendant on her neck glowing green.
Meanwhile, Wan Xia finally showed up at Chu Yunshen’s bedroom entrance.
She walked without making any sound, but Chu Yunshen caught her entering and raised his head to look at her.
“Your Highness…”
Wan Xia called Chu Yunshen gently before she quickened her pace and walked straight up to the desk with a tray in her hands.
From the moment Wan Xia entered the room, Chu Yunshen detected something wrong, but he could not put his finger on it.
There was wind in the air and he could smell Wan Xia’s fragrance distinctly as she approached him.
Chu Yunshen was very familiar with the fragrance. It seemed to be Wan Xia’s usual perfume, but it was very unique and unforgettable.
Chu Yunshen was oblivious about women’s products, so he couldn’t tell what the scent was. He could sense there was something different about it and it was also a little more intense.
Chu Yunshen was wrapped in thought when Wan Xia walked up to Chu Yunshen and placed the tray on the study desk.
“Your Highness, please have some tea.”
Wan Xia bowed reverently as she raised the teacup high and placed it in front of Chu Yunshen. Her hand inadvertently touched the mouth of the cup and her perfume transferred onto the cup.
“Uh huh.”
Chu Yunshen took the teacup and drank the tea. He noticed Cheng Xiaoxiao wasn’t following behind Wan Xia, so he asked, “Where is she?”
Wan Xia was caught by surprise, but she swiftly raised her head and made eye contact with him naturally. After Chu Yunshen had taken a sip of tea, she smiled as she replied, “She is playing with the baby bird.”
The baby bird?
Chu Yunshen’s head was lowered as he stirred the tea leaves in the teacup with the lid. He froze when he heard what Wan Xia said before he frowned as he looked at Wan Xia.
Wan Xia kept her cool and simply smiled as she looked at Chu Yunshen.
“Are you sure?”
Chu Yunshen placed the teacup on the table hard. Since the lid was half-open, the sudden impact made it close shut with a clink.
“Your Highness, where else could she be?”
Wan Xia didn’t bother with the teacup. Instead, she walked around the study desk and came up to Chu Yunshen. She slowly leaned towards Chu Yunshen from the side until her chest was almost touching his arm.
