Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 173
Chapter 173 A private kitchen
Chu Yunshen did the unexpected!
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt a headache coming on and wanted to pull Chu Yunshen’s robe in protest. Sadly, she was in Wan Xia’s arms and was some distance away from him.
Chu Yunshen was completely unmoved. His thin lips parted as he spoke.
Stop! Stop talking!
When did Chu Yunshen become such a talker? Why couldn’t he just shut up already!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was worried Chu Yunshen would end up not giving her a single bite of osmanthus cake if he went on talking. He might just confiscate the two pieces of cake hidden in Wan Xia’s sleeve altogether.
Fine!
It was a deal!
“Meow!”
The lion cat raised her paw to her face and moved it slightly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was mimicking a fortune cat. She felt she ought to have done a good job. Even if she did not look as innocent as the fortune cat, she should at least look cute.
The lion cat was doing better than she thought. In reality, she was absolutely adorable.
Chu Yunshen noticed how adorable she was and his deep cool eyes suddenly looked a little warmer.
Wan Xia also noticed Chu Yunshen looking at the lion cat intently. A mocking smile automatically swept across her face as she quietly clenched her fists.
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept watching earnestly as Chu Yunshen took the osmanthus cake Wan Xia had hidden in her sleeve and broke off a small piece for her.
The osmanthus cake was hers!
The lion cat had her eyes glued on the cake as it slowly came towards her. She stared so hard that she nearly turned cockeyed.
Here it came!
Cheng Xiaoxiao shook her head in satisfaction when she finally got to eat the osmanthus cake.
This was absolutely beneath her.
The entire plate of osmanthus cake was intended for her, but here she was bubbling in bliss from eating just a small bite.
Judging from the amount of brain juice Chu Yunshen used on Cheng Xiaoxiao, it was such a sheer waste of talent.
After eating the osmanthus cake, the lion cat held Chu Yunshen’s hand and kept licking at it. He did nothing to stop her as though it were an everyday affair.
Wan Xia quietly carried the lion cat. She smiled gently as she watched their interaction.
If Cheng Xiaoxiao paid any attention to Wan Xia, she would have undoubtedly noticed the increasingly vicious look on Wan Xia’s face.
The lion cat finally let go of Chu Yunshen’s hand after licking it clean of cake crumbs. Chu Yunshen placed the remaining osmanthus cake on the plate with the handkerchief on it.
“Oh yes. I heard you sprained your ankle yesterday.”
Chu Yunshen reverted to his usual cool self. It seemed as though the man interacting with the lion cat tenderly was a completely different man.
Cheng Xiaoxiao stopped thinking of the osmanthus cake. He was right. Didn’t Wan Xia sprain her foot yesterday?
Why did she seem completely fine today? Why was she able to walk without trouble?
Could a sprain recover so quickly?
Cheng Xiaoxiao recalled the time when she fractured her ankles and could instantly sense a dull ache radiating from her paws.
“Thank you for asking, Your Highness. I am fine.”
Wan Xia bowed with a straight face as she explained gently to Chu Yunshen.
“I accidentally sat on it when I tripped. Even though I was in a lot of pain when it happened, it felt a lot better after I applied medicated wine and had some rest.”
That was great.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was completely unsuspecting. After all, she often stumbled and got bruises. It typically hurt the most when it first happened.
Sometimes, it would hurt so badly that it felt as though it wasn’t her body, but the pain would quickly go away.
Women’s bodies seemed to react a little differently.
Wan Xia’s beautiful face looked sad as she went into deep thought with some tears welling in her eyes before she muttered, “I think Xiao Qin didn’t bear to push me hard…”
Cheng Xiaoxiao could hear every word Wan Xia said loud and clear. Wan Xia’s heart skipped a beat and she suddenly had trouble breathing.
“If you need treatment, you can look for Mu Bai.”
Chu Yunshen nodded nonchalantly as he spoke with his eyes on the book the entire time.
The mocking smile on Wan Xia’s face broadened, but she replied courteously, “Thank you, Your Highness.”
Chu Yunshen didn’t continue talking, so Wan Xia stayed quiet before carrying the lion cat to the table nearby.
For some reason, Wan Xia did not bring any embroidery with her today. She simply sat on the stool with the lion cat in her arms quietly.
Wan Xia kept combing the lion cat’s glossy for every now and then while Chu Yunshen sat at the study desk reading his book as though she wasn’t in a room.
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept thinking about Wan Xia crying. There was still a faint osmanthus scent in her mouth as she reached her tiny tongue out and licked Wan Xia’s fingers.
She licked Wan Xia on the back of her hand down to the tip of her fingers making them damp.
Why did Wan Xia taste a little bitter today? Cheng Xiaoxiao tasted something bitter in her mouth, but she did not know where it had come from.
Wan Xia smelled very good today. Her fragrance smelled even better than it used to.
However, the scent was a little overpowering and was slightly different from the usual fragrance. Was it frankincense or gardenia?
Whatever it was, she was certain it must be the flower buds belonging to one of those sweet-smelling white flowers.
After Cheng Xiaoxiao was done licking Wan Xia’s hand, her tongue felt a little numb and her head was giddy. She really wanted to sleep.
Cheng Xiaoxiao could sense a warm fragrance encircling her. She raised her head and saw Wan Xia’s stunning face.
It was Wan Xia.
No wonder.
No wonder it smelled nice and sweet…
Cheng Xiaoxiao dozed off while she was in Wan Xia’s arms. Before long, she automatically gurgled.
“Are you tired? Shall I take you out for a walk?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt Wan Xia’s voice was simply divine. She hurriedly nodded as she did her utmost to wake up.
Wan Xia stroked the lion cat’s chin indulgently before she stood up and walked over to Chu Yunshen and halted three steps in front of him.
“Your Highness, may I take the lion cat out for a walk?”
The last time Wan Xia and Cheng Xiaoxiao had a heart-to-heart talk at the pavilion, Cheng Xiaoxiao finally went back to normal and seemed a lot closer to Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen naturally waved his hand and answered with a single syllable.
“Uh huh.”
Wan Xia bowed elegantly before leaving the room with the lion cat.
“His Highness was around, so I couldn’t tell you. I prepared a lot of food for you and Xiao Yue is waiting for us in my room.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was in disbelief and felt happy when she heard about the unexpected surprise.
“Don’t worry. I made it in my private kitchen and even prepare the ingredients myself, so I promise no one knows about it.”
Ever since Chu Yunshen started to let Wan Xia take care of the lion cat, he had built another room in Wan Xia’s quarters for use as a kitchen so that she could cook for the lion cat.
Wan Xia always prepared milk paste and fish soup in the kitchen, so no one had to worry about Cheng Xiaoxiao stealing salted food from the main kitchen.
After all, all the food in the private kitchen was intended for the lion cat alone. Even if she came by to sneak a snack, she wouldn’t get sick from the food.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was very touched when she learned Chu Yunshen had prepared a private kitchen just for her needs.
She kept stealing from the private kitchen so as not to disappoint Chu Yunshen.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was wondering why Wan Xia did not prepare any milk paste or fish soup today. In reality, she had made extra food for her.
In that case, why should she get upset about the osmanthus cake?
Since Wan Xia was a very thoughtful girl, she must have prepared it as well.
Wan Xia touched the lion cat’s little nose as she kept her eye on the stone-paved path and quickened her pace.
“I made you fish soup, milk paste, fish cake, boiled chicken, osmanthus, and green bean cake.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was bursting with energy now and all her sleepiness had dissipated completely.
Wan Xia knew her the best. Considering all the food she had prepared, it was going to be a real feast for her today.
Wan Xia walked quickly. As they went through a long corridor, she said profoundly, “I started preparing the food yesterday to help make you feel better. I know Xiao Qin’s death must have given you quite a fright, so you should help yourself to more food later, okay?”
“Meow!”
Don’t worry! Even if Wan Xia did not encourage Cheng Xiaoxiao to eat, she would wipe out every morsel in sight!
Cheng Xiaoxiao smiled happily at Wan Xia. She wanted to get to Wan Xia’s quarters as soon as possible.
Xiao Yue paced up and down inside Wan Xia’s quarters. She smiled and laughed every now and then with her eyes glued to the door. She was completely engulfed in anxiety inside the kitchen.
KNOCK KNOCK!
Someone finally knocked on the door.
Xiao Yue hurriedly went to the door to answer it and saw Wan Xia standing outside with the lion cat in her arms.
“Miss Wan Xia, you are finally back!”
Xiao Yue quickly pulled Wan Xia into the kitchen. She reached her head out and looked left and right anxiously before she closed the door carefully.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was puzzled by Xiao Yue’s actions. Why was she behaving like a spy?
Wan Xia had secretly cooked a feast for her. Did Xiao Yue have to make it seem as though they were gangsters secretly meeting up?
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao saw the feast sitting on the table in the hall, she promptly threw the thoughts out of her mind.
She couldn’t be bothered with them now!
All she cared about was food.
If she got distracted when she was eating, she would get indigestion and it was bad for her health.
The lion cat looked at the sumptuous spread on the table with her eyes glinting. Saliva gathered in her mouth as she drooled.
Wan Xia furtively glanced at Xiao Yue. Xiao Yue promptly caught her drift and removed the food covers used to keep the food warm.
The smell of the food wafted straight towards Cheng Xiaoxiao the moment the covers were removed. Cheng Xiaoxiao inhaled the sweet scent of the food deeply.
It was absolutely delish!
The lion cat looked at Wan Xia earnestly. It seemed as though she was about to pounce on the food any moment.
Wan Xia unexpectedly suddenly turned pale and did not move as she held the lion cat in her arms.
Xiao Yue asked, “Miss Wan Xia, what’s wrong?”
“I… I left the lunchbox behind…”
After hearing what Wan Xia said, Cheng Xiaoxiao shrank into Wan Xia’s arms and continued looking at the food on the big table.
