Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 155
Chapter 155 The jade box resurfaces
Cheng Xiaoxiao eventually fell asleep. Perhaps she was unworried or genuinely exhausted, so she was able to nod off while she was thinking. By the time she woke up, it was already the next morning.
Xiaowu spoke to Chu Yunshen in an irritating tone. “Master, I will send it over.”
Before Chu Yunshen said a word, Cheng Xiaoxiao snapped out of her daze and felt annoyed.
She swiftly darted in front of Xiaowu and climbed up Xiaowu’s pant leg and pummeled him.
The moment Chu Yunshen saw the furry white silhouette on Xiaowu, he seemed a little annoyed.
Xiaowu was badly scratched and incapable of retaliating, so he reached his hand out and grabbed her body.
He and Cheng Xiaoxiao could never wrap their minds around it. Why was Chu Yunshen always able to figure out exactly where they were going and get there before they did?
Naturally, it was no different this time.
Chu Yunshen nimbly took the lion cat from Xiaowu and placed her in his arms and stroked the infuriated cat deftly.
Chu Yunshen turned and spoke to Xiaowu a little angrily with his back facing him. “I will go with you.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao was furious when she learned Chu Yunshen had no intention of going against Xiaowu’s suggestion. She did her utmost to escape Chu Yunshen’s embrace.
If they took the jade box, she would have no chance of recovering her jade pendant.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was anxious and furious and her eyes were teary.
Why couldn’t she do what she wanted? It was her life, but why didn’t anyone care about how she felt?
Chu Yunshen held the lion cat tightly. He could sense the lion cat fighting back, but there was nothing else he could do about it.
Before long, Chu Yunshen felt a warm fluid on his hand. Chu Yunshen lowered his head and looked at the lion cat who had suddenly gone quiet. He finally noticed the miserable look in her bright contrasting eyes. The fluid dripping on the back of his hand was none other than the lion cat’s tears.
A wave of anxiety swept through Chu Yunshen’s eyes as he loosened his grip on the lion cat.
He was unsure if cats were capable of crying, but did the lion cat like the jade box so much that she would cry?
The moment Chu Yunshen loosened his grip, Cheng Xiaoxiao ran under the bed.
She knew it was impossible for her to ever see the jade box again. In that case, she did not want to stay with Chu Yunshen and Xiaowu.
After Cheng Xiaoxiao escaped under the bed, she sensed something amiss. Why was there a weight on her neck?
Cheng Xiaoxiao reached her paw out and felt something familiar.
It was the jade pendant!
Cheng Xiaoxiao was so excited that she nearly screamed in joy!
She examined the jade pendant closely and found that all the spirit energy was used.
It was just slightly darker after the spirit energy had completely depleted. Other than that, there was nothing wrong with it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was finally relieved and kissed the jade pendant several times.
Cheng Xiaoxiao swore as she kissed the jade pendant, “My dear, I will be very careful from now on. I swear never to lose you again.”
Now that Cheng Xiaoxiao had recovered the jade pendant, she lost interest in the jade box.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was not the sort to make excessive demands. Since the jade box did not belong to her, she did not want it.
As for the jade pendant, she knew it was impossible for her to figure out how it ended up coming back to her.
Perhaps the jade pendant expended the last of its spirit energy to challenge the jade box and won.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had a unique thought pattern, so things were always fantastical to her.
However, things were not as fantastical as she imagined. A green light flickered from the jade box last night before the jade pendant suddenly appeared.
After the glow died out, the jade pendant flew back to Cheng Xiaoxiao’s neck.
Cheng Xiaoxiao happened to be sleeping, so she naturally did not see this.
In any case, her precious jade pendant finally came back to her. That was all that mattered. Why should she be bothered thinking about the minor details?
Cheng Xiaoxiao happily admired the jade pendant several times and completely forgot about Chu Yunshen and Xiaowu outside the bed.
Xiaowu didn’t see the lion cat crying. However, complicated emotions flooded through Chu Yunshen’s heart as he thought about how hurt the lion cat was…
Wan Xia came over at the agreed time.
Chu Yunshen checked the time before heading to the justice department with Xiaowu.
As for the lion cat under the bed…
Chu Yunshen kept turning back to check under the bed hesitantly. When he was about to leave, he acted calm as he told Wan Xia, “Erm… Try to spend more time with her.”
Chu Yunshen pointed under the bed as he spoke in a voice so soft that even he felt it was monotonous.
Xiaowu and Wan Xia looked at Chu Yunshen perplexedly. However, Chu Yunshen didn’t look at them and turned to leave altogether as though he was fleeing.
Meanwhile, at the justice department.
“Your Highness, we have examined Uncle Gen’s corpse a few times and confirmed there was nothing unusual about it. However, he has a…”
Di Yangze pulled out a sheet of paper from his chest. The pattern on it certainly wasn’t new to Chu Yunshen and the others.
Di Yangze straightened the piece of paper before he handed it to Chu Yunshen. “Your Highness, we found this pattern tattooed on the inside of his upper arm. Do you know anything about it?”
“Your Highness, we have seen this pattern a few times when we investigated our previous case is. This emblem belongs to Wu.”
Chu Yunshen gestured for Xiaowu to take the piece of paper. Xiaowu scrutinized the pattern briefly before passing it to Chu Yunshen as he said, “From the looks of it, Uncle Gen’s case has something to do with Wu, but he is dead…”
“I know what to do. We will stop investigating the case for now.”
Chu Yunshen’s aura turned cold as usual with a proud dignified look on his face.
“Sir Di, is there anything unusual with the jade box?”
Di Yangze was holding the jade box which the lion cat coveted so much.
“Your Highness, there was nothing unusual about the jade box.”
Di Yangze studied the box a few times before he finally placed it in front of Chu Yunshen and lowered his head to ponder before he said, “The only unusual thing about it was the fact that there was no opening.”
The moment Di Yangze finished his sentence, Xiaowu looked at him in disdain.
Di Yangze felt his words were redundant. After all, the jade box was sitting right here and everyone could see what it looked like physically.
Di Yangze smiled sheepishly and did not take Xiaowu’s reaction to heart. “Since there is nothing wrong with it, I will place it in storage.”
“One moment.”
Di Yangze heard Chu Yunshen’s cold dignified voice from behind and instantly halted in his steps before he turned to await Chu Yunshen’s orders.
“Yes, Your Highness?”
It was the first time Chu Yunshen felt embarrassed. He tried a few times before he finally managed to find his voice and said, “Sir Di, do you mind letting me have it?”
Di Yangze was clearly surprised by Chu Yunshen’s request. He didn’t know Chu Yunshen was interested in jade.
Di Yangze thought about the trouble his unfilial son had caused previously and decided to do Chu Yunshen the favor. He smiled and bowed as he held the jade box high and handed it to Xiaowu.
“I work for Your Highness, so you naturally can have the jade box.”
Before Xiaowu knew it, Chu Yunshen had already reached his hand out to put the jade box away in his chest. It was the first time Chu Yunshen ever used his status to obtain something. Chu Yunshen didn’t know what else to say to Di Yangze, so he put on a stiff face as he left the justice department with Xiaowu.
By the time he got home, Wan Xia was playing with the lion cat and baby bird. The lion cat and baby bird were having such fun that no one noticed Chu Yunshen when he walked up in front of them.
Chu Yunshen had already stood there for some time before Wan Xia realized he was back.
Wan Xia saw Chu Yunshen when she happened to turn around. The moment Wan Xia got a shock and knelt to greet him, Cheng Xiaoxiao knew he was back.
So be it if he was home.
Cheng Xiaoxiao yawned lazily before she walked to the side and turned to face Chu Yunshen with her butt.
Even though she was very happy about finding the jade pendant, she felt Chu Yunshen belong to her alone.
Even though Cheng Xiaoxiao considered him a close friend, he did not help to let her keep the jade box or a little longer.
Instead of throwing a temper, Chu Yunshen laughed when the lion cat ignored him.
He pulled the jade box from his chest and placed it on the table. It clanged so loudly that the lion cat was startled as she secretly scolded him.
The lion cat raised her eyes and glanced at Chu Yunshen angrily. Chu Yunshen stopped looking at the cat and turned to leave the room altogether.
Cheng Xiaoxiao finally realized the object Chu Yunshen had left on the table.
It was none other than a jade box.
Didn’t he send the jade box to the justice department? Why did Chu Yunshen bring it back?
Moreover, why did he place it in front of her?
Cheng Xiaoxiao was so clueless that she forgot about how she cried because of the jade box earlier and Chu Yunshen had seen her weeping.
Chu Yunshen had lowered himself and asked Di Yangze for the jade box to make the lion cat happy.
He didn’t expect the lion cat to give him such a poor attitude.
If Cheng Xiaoxiao was placed in the same position as Chu Yunshen, she would get furious with herself as well.
Chu Yunshen always abided by the book, but she kept asking for things.
However, Chu Yunshen did not take it to heart. He let her keep the handwritten note and delayed submitting the evidence for as long as possible. Now, he even gave the jade box which was intended as evidence altogether.
What about Cheng Xiaoxiao? She was a pure ingrate for throwing a temper at Chu Yunshen.
Sadly, Cheng Xiaoxiao was oblivious about the things Chu Yunshen had done for her. She simply felt he was having another mood swing and throwing his temper at her again.
So what if he was angry? She was just as upset.
Cheng Xiaoxiao hugged the jade box angrily before she tilted her head and watched Wan Xia embroider.
For some reason, she felt flustered and was incapable of focusing, so she decided to stop looking at Wan Xia embroidering. Instead, she lay prone and forced herself to sleep.
Wan Xia saw the lion cat lying on the table motionlessly with annoyance on her face, so she poked the needle through the fabric before putting the embroidery frame in the thread basket.
“Why? Are you tired?”
Wan Xia held the lion cat’s face with her hands and rubbed it.
