Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 153
Chapter 153 Was the chicken soup good?
Cheng Xiaoxiao forgot how she and Xiaowu were comrades who had fought together. The slight guilt in her heart also instantly dissipated without a trace.
Come on! She swore to defend her jade pendant!
The lion cat gurgled threateningly as her fur stood erect.
“You can do it in a few days.”
Chu Yunshen interrupted their imperceptible war.
Xiaowu looked at the smug cat who had gotten her way and couldn’t help feeling annoyed. “It’s not like you can read, right? What’s the point of taking it?”
Cheng Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes at Xiaowu. She flipped through the book and started looking for the word “stupid”. Since there was no such word inside, she resorted to pointing at the words “Xiao” and “Wu” to prove her point.
Xiaowu gaped in astonishment. After some time, he finally muttered, “This is incredible. Could this cat be a demon or something?”
The moment Chu Yunshen heard what Xiaowu said, his hands froze as he was about to stroke the cat before he pulled his hands back subtly.
“Enough. Don’t bother submitting the handwritten letter. As for the jade box, we can talk about it in a few days.”
Xiaowu knew that his master was saying this for the sake of the lion cat. Chu Yunshen probably wanted to send the things to the justice department after the lion cat got sick of them.
“Yes, Master,” acknowledged Xiaowu obediently as he glared at the lion cat.
The lion cat glared straight back at Xiaowu and even swayed her claws domineeringly.
She knew exactly what Xiaowu was thinking. He couldn’t stand the sight of Chu Yunshen indulging her.
He was absolutely petty and making him an open target for her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t understand what everyone was thinking. Mu Bai got jealous when Chu Yunshen treated her well. Xiaowu also got upset when Chu Yunshen let her get away with things all the time.
She simply wanted to be the only cat that enjoyed Chu Yunshen’s affection. No, correction. She wanted to be his lover. Instead of helping her, these people were incapable of grasping it and failed to offer her well-wishes and help. They even ostracized her out of jealousy.
Cheng Xiaoxiao thought about Wan Xia and felt she was impressive for being above it all. She was simply like an angel.
Oh yes. Where was Wan Xia?
Cheng Xiaoxiao realized she had yet to see Wan Xia ever since she came back and couldn’t help missing her.
They were truly best friends, so she missed her a lot.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt she would definitely fall in love with Wan Xia if she was a man.
After Xiaowu accepted his orders, he left the room. Cheng Xiaoxiao could finally stop fighting with him. Also, Cheng Xiaoxiao missed Wan Xia a lot, so she put down the jade box end book.
Should she stay to study the jade box, or visit Wan Xia? Cheng Xiaoxiao was in such a dilemma.
Even though the jade pendant was important, she couldn’t forget about her friend.
Also, Wan Xia had a weak constitution and occasionally took leave, so Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help wondering if Wan Xia was sick today.
For some reason, Cheng Xiaoxiao seemed to have some kind of superpower. Every time she thought about someone, the person would appear before her.
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was thinking about seeing her, a sweet-smelling fragrance could be smelled in the air. It was none other than Wan Xia who was late.
Wan Xia seemed like a pink cloud floating towards Chu Yunshen. She was dressed in a floor-length light red pearl dress which was cinched at the waist with white jasmines embroidered all over her sleeves.
Her long hair was held up loosely in a bun casually held together by a hairpin.
“My apologies, Your Highness. I wasn’t expecting you today, so I was late.”
“It’s okay.”
Chu Yunshen surprisingly raised his head to glance at Wan Xia. It was so brief that Cheng Xiaoxiao almost thought that her eyes were playing tricks on her.
After all, Chu Yunshen never batted an eye at women.
Chu Yunshen quickly lowered his eyes and continued reading the book in his hand. Cheng Xiaoxiao felt those books of his was simply boring.
Similarly, Chu Yunshen probably couldn’t understand Cheng Xiaoxiao’s penchant for the jade box either.
Now that Cheng Xiaoxiao had seen Wan Xia with her own eyes and confirmed she was in good health, Cheng Xiaoxiao stopped trying to decide on where to go and pulled the jade box into her arms and attempted to figure it out.
Wan Xia stood in front of the table with Chu Yunshen’s permission and placed a food container on the study desk.
The moment Wan Xia opened it slightly, Cheng Xiaoxiao could smell the delicious scent of food.
It was fish soup!
The cool sensation from the jade box beneath Cheng Xiaoxiao was a constant reminder that she shouldn’t pounce on the food. Otherwise, she would have jumped beside Wan Xia right away.
She did not know Wan Xia’s fish soup recipe, but it was particularly yummy.
No one else could cook like Wan Xia.
Wan Xia was probably an excellent cook. Perhaps her soup was filled with love.
Cheng Xiaoxiao contemplated as she stared straight at Wan Xia who was taking out the food.
As expected, Wan Xia took out a bowl of milky, white-colored fish soup. It was piping hot and it was clearly freshly made.
However, Wan Xia didn’t give Cheng Xiaoxiao the soup. Instead, she cautiously placed it on the side of the study table before she deftly opened the second layer of the food container.
It smelled like chicken soup.
Cheng Xiaoxiao’s cat’s nose promptly caught a familiar smell in the air.
Ever since Cheng Xiaoxiao became a cat, her sense of hearing and smell became exceptionally sensitive. Also, she was a foodie with a healthy appetite, so she never misjudged food.
Wan Xia took out the food in the second layer of the food container unhurriedly and placed it on the table.
Cheng Xiaoxiao glanced over quizzically. The chicken soup smelled delectable from a distance and instantly whetted her appetite.
Wan Xia put away the food container and picked up an exquisite blue and white porcelain bowl.
She carefully took a spoon and stirred the chicken soup inside the bowl to reveal golden-colored oil floating on top of the milky white soup.
Cheng Xiaoxiao lost all willpower. She swallowed the saliva in her mouth hard and stared straight at Wan Xia as she stirred the soup and almost wanted to snatch the soup with her claws.
Wan Xia and Chu Yunshen noticed the lion cat’s reaction and laughed out loud in unison.
The moment they inadvertently made eye contact, Wan Xia veered her eyes anxiously and pulled the soup spoon back in the process.
Wan Xia straightened her hair and pretended nothing happened as she placed the bowl in front of Chu Yunshen slowly.
After mentally preparing herself for some time, she cleared her throat, braced herself, and said, “Your Highness, I just prepared this chicken soup. Would you like to have some?”
Chu Yunshen looked at the soup without saying a word. Since he always looked cool and collected, Cheng Xiaoxiao and Wan Xia both secretly speculated what he would say.
Cheng Xiaoxiao knew this wasn’t normal, but she suddenly hoped Chu Yunshen would turn down Wan Xia.
“I added codonopsis and astragalus, so it is very good for you…” Wan Xia raised her head hurriedly and felt she was too deliberate, so she lowered her head and twisted the corner of her robe. Her voice trembled as she probed, “Your Highness, if you are concerned that the soup isn’t safe, I can drink some first.”
Chu Yunshen looked at the fine blue and white porcelain bowl for a long time.
Say no!
Come on! Say no!
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Chu Yunshen earnestly hoping he would reject Wan Xia tactfully, but she didn’t get what she wanted.
Chu Yunshen suddenly picked up the chicken soup and blew on it casually and drank a large mouthful without using a spoon.
It was clear that Wan Xia had put her heart into making this soup and it was served at the perfect temperature.
A fragrant taste spread across Chu Yunshen’s mouth and continued to linger for a long time.
Even after swallowing the soup, he could still taste it in his mouth along with the fragrance of Chinese herbs and chicken.
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t help feeling disappointed when Chu Yunshen drank the soup. Now she couldn’t stand the sight of their interaction.
She struggled to focus on the jade box and pushed it back and forth.
Wan Xia also noticed the lion cat’s sudden disappointment and low spirits, so she picked up the cat firmly with one hand and fish soup in the other before heading to a table by the side.
She turned to say to Chu Yunshen as she walked, “Your Highness, I will feed the lion here so as not to disturb you.”
Her smile was beautiful with her dimples showing.
It was the first time Cheng Xiaoxiao felt those dimples were jarring to her eyes. She even inadvertently struggled a little when Wan Xia carried her.
Wan Xia naturally sensed the lion cat’s objection and felt surprised.
What was going on?
Wan Xia simply made chicken soup for Chu Yunshen. Did she have to get jealous?
Was Wan Xia late today because she was busy preparing chicken soup? She must have made the soup for hours.
She woke before daybreak to make the soup even though Chu Yunshen might not have drunk it. It was clear that she fancied Chu Yunshen.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt she didn’t understand Wan Xia as well as she thought. Since Cheng Xiaoxiao had a candid personality and all her emotions were written on her face, she was looking at Wan Xia quizzically.
Wan Xia subtly carried the lion cat onto the table as though nothing had happened before she scooped a bowl of fish soup for her.
She deboned the fish completely and fed the lion cat as usual without offering any explanation.
The more Wan Xia refused to explain, the more anxious Cheng Xiaoxiao became. She ate her fish soup robotically and swallowed it just waiting for Wan Xia to give her a good explanation.
The lion cat was about to finish all the fish soup and meat in the bowl, so Wan Xia took out her specially scented handkerchief from her chest and wiped the lion cat’s face.
Cheng Xiaoxiao watched as Wan Xia cleared up the cutlery before she bowed to Chu Yunshen. “Your Highness, since the weather is good today, why don’t I take her out for a walk?”
Chu Yunshen glanced outside the window and saw the fine weather outside. The cat seemed to be in low spirits and was probably bored from staying in the room, so he waved his hand in agreement.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had no interest in going out.
She would rather sleep with the jade box in the room than hang out with Wan Xia with these inexplicable emotions in her heart.
Wan Xia carried the heavy lunch box with one hand and Cheng Xiaoxiao in the other. Cheng Xiaoxiao didn’t know how she managed to do it since she was so frail.
“Are you going to continue fighting with me?”
