Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 142
Chapter 142 An abandoned house
Cheng Xiaoxiao quietly uttered what Zhong Ming had just said and felt it had a nice beat to it.
After Zhong Ming chanted to himself, Xiaowu attempted to open the door.
Since the deserted village looked like no one had lived here in ages, everyone thought it wouldn’t be easy to open the door.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was expecting to see Xiaowu kicking the door, but Xiaowu effortlessly pushed open the door with a loud creak.
It felt as though someone was waiting for them to open the door and come into the house.
Xiaowu glanced at Chu Yunshen for his order. After Chu Yunshen nodded and agreed, he finally went into the house with Zhong Ming first.
They went in using the same formation as before while Songtao and Yinyue stood guard outside the door.
After the last person entered through the door, it’s suddenly closed behind him with a loud bam as dust floated in the air.
Everyone was startled by the loud bang.
Songtao’s voice came from outside, “Master, is everything okay?”
Although Chu Yunshen frowned when he heard the sound, he replied without hesitation, “We are fine. Just keep standing guard outside.”
He quickly stroked the lion cat in his arms to smooth her erect fur as he spoke and did his best to calm her down.
“I certainly hope we don’t lose our senses and end up fighting each other again…” muttered Xiaowu as he scrutinized the house quickly.
The moment Xiaowu brought this up, Cheng Xiaoxiao recalled how Chu Yunshen was trapped in the formation previously and couldn’t help feeling apprehensive.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt annoyed when she heard what Xiaowu said.
Since he was an idiot, the gods probably didn’t hear what he said. She certainly hoped this would never happen!
Zhong Ming shrank his neck the moment he entered the house. He closed his eyes altogether when he heard the loud bang.
After calming himself, he secretly opened his eyes a little and looked around the house just like Xiaowu.
“This house looks completely normal. Just look at that. Sunlight can come in through the window.”
The moment Zhong Ming pointed this out, Xiaowu and the others raised their heads to check out the place. The light was genuinely coming in through the window making the house a lot less cold.
Most of the time, houses felt slightly colder inside in comparison to the outdoors when the sun was up.
Moreover, it was just a simple earthen house even though it looked a lot better than the other houses in the village.
There was nothing covering the earthen ground, so it was no surprise that it felt a little cold inside.
Zhong Ming was afraid they did not understand what he was trying to say earlier, so he explained further, “These details don’t matter if you are in a normal house, but this is a double prime Yin location, so it is very unusual for any light to exist in this residence.”
“Is this house very unusual?” Chu Yunshen frowned slightly. His cold voice sounded surprised.
“Yes, it is. However, this is a good sign. After all, it is rare to see light in a prime Yin location.”
Since the house was different from the ones mentioned in the handwritten letter, Zhong Ming felt slightly more relieved.
Xiaowu felt a little more relaxed when he heard Zhong Ming speaking with confidence. Since there were seven of them in the party, there was nothing for them to be afraid of.
However, Cheng Xiaoxiao remained absolutely anxious. After her jade pendant led her here, it kept flashing non-stop.
Didn’t Zhong Ming say that the house was perfectly fine? Also, she was unable to see anything unusual in here.
There must be a demon in here since it was flashing!
Cheng Xiaoxiao raised her head and saw Chu Yunshen still frowning. Was he suspicious about the house just like how Cheng Xiaoxiao felt?
“Xiaowu, search the place.”
Sure enough, Chu Yunshen ordered Xiaowu to check the place with a complicated expression in his eyes.
“Yes, Master.”
Xiaowu and the others, including Zhong Ming, searched the residence carefully to check for anything unusual.
Xiaowu and the others continued sensing a draft in the room.
Cheng Xiaoxiao could also sense Chu Yunshen’s temperature dropping as she lay in his arms.
Everyone felt it was completely normal for the temperature to drop a little when they went indoors.
There was nothing strange about it and simply a natural occurrence.
After all, it wasn’t like there was a lot of sun in the house. Only a little bit of sunlight could get through the small window, so it wasn’t enough to keep the cold out.
Then again, after climbing down the cliff, digging for Zhong Ming’s handwritten note, traveling to the deserted village, almost tying Zhong Ming up at the village entrance, and their conversation outside the house, they were honestly getting a little warm.
The cool air in the house came as a welcome change. Also, it was able to gradually calm them down before they continued to search the place properly.
After some time, it felt as though the cold air in the room was gradually seeping through their skin and seemed as though it could reach their very soul.
It was only a slight chill as it unknowingly entered from the feet before it gradually spread throughout their bodies.
Initially, they didn’t notice anything amiss. However, it gradually felt a little spine-tingling!
All of them could sense goosebumps on their arms for some reason and even their scalps felt numb every now and then.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt puzzled when she heard Nongying complaining about the cold to Xiaowu.
Xiaowu and the others had gone to the war front with Chu Yunshen, so they were used to seeing dead bodies. How could they get goosebumps from being inside this empty house?
Cheng Xiaoxiao found Chu Yunshen’s reaction even stranger.
Chu Yunshen did not move much on his way here. Also, he had very powerful internal energy which was able to keep his body warm the entire time.
Since she was lying in his arms as though she was a hand warmer, he shouldn’t be feeling cold at all in theory.
However, his temperature kept dropping and it was impossible for Cheng Xiaoxiao to keep him warm.
Chu Yunshen carried the lion cat in his arms as they searched the main hall. Now they were about to enter the room across the main hall, but it felt even colder.
Cheng Xiaoxiao finally realized that she could also smell a faint fishy smell in the air.
She kept smelling the air as she did her best to figure out what it was and find it.
What was this smell?
It smelled like the scent that Cheng Xiaoxiao could always smell when she was half-awake.
When it happened, it felt as though an insect’s antenna was touching her gently. By the time she could sense it, it had already blended in with the damp smell in the atmosphere.
She did not find this unusual. It was normal for her to pick up some strange scents every now and then.
She should stop scaring herself and just drop it if she couldn’t figure out what it was!
It was best to stop thinking about it. After all, Cheng Xiaoxiao’s heart was not made of iron. If she wanted to stay strong, she had to be positive.
However, she felt there was something strange about the inner room and the small window which was roughly the size of a dog hole.
It felt as though something almost invisible was coming in through the window.
What was it?
Why was it so faint and almost undetectable?
It kind of looked like the haze she used to see in cities before she transmigrated.
How could haze exist in this era?
Could it be the fog they encountered earlier?
When they were 200 meters from the desert village, the fog had already lifted. It felt as though the village were covered by an inverted glass bowl making it impossible for the fog to enter.
It simply did not make sense for the fog to appear in this house.
In any case, fog usually did not appear indoors!
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt absolutely puzzled by this strange phenomenon.
Xiaowu and the others finally noticed the fog gradually appearing in the house. It made them cold and frightened!
Despite Cheng Xiaoxiao’s thick fur, the fog felt even colder than her air conditioner when it was at its coldest.
The scene that followed was simply inconceivable!
The haze gradually intensified until it turned completely white and looked dense. Even though there was no wind in the house, it started to spin on its own volition.
It gradually left a penetratingly cold wind in its wake as it blew here and there.
Anyone who felt the wind turned so icy cold that they couldn’t help trembling.
However, the effects of the strange wind did not stop there. After getting blown by the wind, people could not help feeling depressed!
For some reason, their minds turned blank after getting blown by it. They promptly forgot what they were doing here or the people around them as they quietly tried to stay warm.
The people in the small room seemed to lose consciousness as they became muddled. Their faces turned pale as they started to feel suffocated. Before long, they went into a daze completely.
“I see all of you are here.”
The sudden voice made Chu Yunshen and the others regained consciousness slightly. All of them kept their guard up as they searched for the source of the voice.
Xiaowu and the others pulled out their swords as they surrounded Chu Yunshen and Zhong Ming to protect them.
“Who goes there!”
Since Zhong Ming had worked for Uncle Gen for a long time and knew Uncle Gen well, he quickly recognized his voice.
It was none other than Uncle Gen who had gone missing for days!
“That’s Uncle Gen!”
Zhong Ming really wished he could hide somewhere the moment he heard Uncle Gen’s voice.
Cheng Xiaoxiao spotted Zhong Ming attempting to pull Chu Yunshen’s robe, so she instantly glared at Zhong Ming.
Just he try!
If he dared to touch Chu Yunshen, Cheng Xiaoxiao would scratch him to death!
Zhong Ming could only keep a slight distance from Chu Yunshen when he spotted the lion cat’s threatening gaze, but he didn’t dare to go too far.
After all, Xiaowu and the others had encircled Chu Yunshen to protect him. If Zhong Ming went too far, it wouldn’t be safe.
The moment the voice finished his sentence, it went silent.
However, the haze in the atmosphere sped up a little making Xiaowu and the others so giddy that they had trouble holding up their swords.
CRACK! CRACK!
The sound of bones moving could suddenly be heard in the room along with synchronized footsteps as everyone walked in unison.
It sounded like something Cheng Xiaoxiao heard from a zombie movie in her past life.
Although Cheng Xiaoxiao did not feel dizzy from the haze, the voice sent chills down her back as well.
Xiaowu and the others shook their heads as they did their utmost to stay awake.
Chu Yunshen tightened his grip on the sword at his waist as he held the lion cat in his arms tightly with his left hand.
“Zhong Ming, I didn’t expect you to have the balls to come here.”
