Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 135
Chapter 135 A tough interrogation
Wang Er opened his eyes wide when Xiaowu admitted who he was. He wanted to go over and rip Xiaowu apart this instant. If looks could kill, Wang Er would have executed Xiaowu with his penetrating stare.
Since Tingzhu had pressed Wang Er’s dumbness acupoint, he was unable to speak and could only struggle. However, Tingzhu was so strong that it was impossible for Wang Er to go against him.
Wang Er’s face was already red from trying, but he was incapable of moving his upper body and only his legs remained mobile.
Wang Er kept walking towards Xiaowu and kicking in the air.
He failed to kick Xiaowu and ended up wearing himself out quickly.
“Undo his acupoint,” Xiaowu stood away from Wang Er as he told Tingzhu.
Tingzhu didn’t know why Xiaowu wanted to do that, but he followed Xiaowu’s orders.
He thought Wang Er would curse at Xiaowu the moment Wang Er could speak.
Instead, he looked at Xiaowu’s youthful round face in a daze and suddenly looked depressed.
After some time, Tingzhu started to suspect if he made a mistake and didn’t press the right acupoint. However, Wang Er finally spoke, “How could you be Xiaowu? Who the hell are you?”
Wang Er’s hoarse voice sounded even huskier. Xiaowu didn’t care for his opinion and simply stood before him expressionlessly and told him, “I am Xiaowu. I was sent by His Highness on behalf of the justice department to apprehend you.”
Wang Er seemed genuinely defeated and was so agitated by Xiaowu that he was unable to react for a long time.
Tingzhu didn’t press his dumbness acupoint and simply brought him out of the unmarked burial gravesite.
Wang Er numbly went out with them. As he walked, he kept muttering quietly to himself repeatedly, “How could he be Xiaowu? He can’t possibly be Xiaowu! Everything was a lie…”
No one knew what use it was for him to lie to himself. Since he was able to obediently follow Xiaowu and the others, it went to show how effective Xiaowu’s undercover mission went.
Li Erfa was having an equally hard time as Wang Er since he was knocked out.
By the time Li Erfa regained consciousness, Wang Er and the others had already spent the night at the justice department jail cell.
It was an unusually sunny day and warm sunlight penetrated through the skylight and fell on Wang Er and the others.
The sunlight was warm, but it wasn’t enough to warm up Wang Er and the others.
“Are you awake?”
Xiaowu walked in quickly with the justice department guards. The guards split into two rows and stood on both sides with a path down the center.
A man in black walked in slowly. His sleeves were embroidered with layers of gold auspicious clouds. The dragon jade pendant hanging from his neck was proof of his important status.
His long dark hair was tied in a high knot with a flawless jade hairpin holding it in place right through the center. He was so cool and elegant that it radiated from his very core.
He had exquisite features, thick brows, and slightly upturned eyes. It felt as though his eyes could see right through them. They seemed like a deep pool that was capable of drowning them.
He had a tall nose and his thin lips seemed a little pale.
Chu Yunshen’s gorgeous looks seemed completely out of place with the dirty jail cell. However, he casually lifted his robe and sat down in one fluid motion and seemed particularly elegant.
Since Li Erfa and the others were common citizens, they had never seen anyone as good-looking as him. For a moment, they were awestruck.
Xiaowu cleared his throat and interrupted their thoughts as they stared at Chu Yunshen blatantly.
“Why don’t you confess? Who shall we start with?”
After spending the night in the jail cell, Wang Er had calmed down. He seemed completely normal to Xiaowu now.
He sat in the jail nonchalantly with his head lowered as he stared at the hay on the ground and refused to look away. It seemed as though none of this had anything to do with him as he placed all attention on the spot.
Li Erfa came to learn Xiaowu was none other than their newfound friend. The moment he saw Xiaowu, he was particularly agitated and wanted to curse Xiaowu with every swear word in his dictionary.
“You traitor! We have been nothing but kind to you. How could you betray us and stab us in the back…”?
All the noise Li Erfa made caught Chu Yunshen’s attention.
He glanced at Xiaowu mildly and gestured for him to take care of it.
Xiaowu immediately pressed Li Erfa’s dumbness acupoint and said cruelly, “We had nothing in common to begin with.”
Li Erfa refused to stop even after Xiaowu pressed his dumbness acupoint and kept screaming soundlessly in the jail.
Xiaowu looked at his fury and could tell he was probably cursing him still. He disregarded Li Erfa and told the guards to bring Wang Er over.
Before long, Wang Er was brought up before Chu Yunshen and Xiaowu stood behind Chu Yunshen.
Chu Yunshen sat on an oily wooden table in the jail cell with only one tiny oil lamp on it. His face flickered under the light.
He was cold and didn’t bother looking at anyone and his aura felt imposing.
The guard pressed Wang Er down and made him kneel. In his heart, he suddenly had the urge to come clean about his crimes.
Xiaowu detected Wang Er’s emotions and he glanced at Chu Yunshen feeling impressed.
Chu Yunshen was incredible. The moment Chu Yunshen showed up, he used his imposing aura to scare the hell out of them.
Xiaowu cleared his throat and raised his voice to said Wang Er, “Wang Er, hurry up and confess to your crimes.”
Wang Er was at a loss when he heard Xiaowu’s voice. He smiled sadly before he said angrily, “You have already participated in our crimes. What more do we have to say?”
Xiaowu went speechless when he heard what Wang Er said. Fortunately, he reacted quickly and warned him, “Wang Er, don’t try to get smart! Tell us how you killed and buried those burial workers this instant!”
Xiaowu’s words seemed to strike Wang Er like he had just thrown a stone into a lake. Wang Er raised his head to look at Xiaowu in shock. He didn’t expect Xiaowu to already know this.
Before long, he lowered his head once more. It was clear Xiaowu’s words had little use and the lake quickly became calm.
“Since you already know everything, why should I have to say it?”
Wang Er’s lousy attitude annoyed Xiaowu. He could only get the guards to bring a man in.
“Have you seen this man before?”
It was none other than the owner of Yongxin Pawnshop, Liu Quan.
Liu Quan knelt before Chu Yunshen reverently and looked at Wang Er carefully before bowing to reply, “Sir Xiaowu, he is Wang Er. He is a regular at my pawn shop.”
“Good.” Xiaowu was in no hurry and slowly encouraged him to say more. “Do you remember what Wang Er pawns at your shop?”
“I have records of every transaction in the pawnshop. Since Wang Er always sells his stuff entirely, I only have records of payment to him.”
Liu Quan didn’t know what was going on, but he attempted to recall what happened when Wang Er came to pawn stuff.
Judging from this situation, Wang Er must have committed a crime. He was an honest businessman, so he did not want to get connected to it.
Xiaowu could keenly sense Liu Quan not wanting to get into trouble. He glanced at Chu Yunshen and noted that Chu Yunshen didn’t have any instruction for him.
“What else do you remember?”
Xiaowu decided to throw the question at Liu Quan. If Liu Quan wanted to prove his innocence, he had to do his best to convince them.
Sure enough, Liu Quan went quiet for some time as he sweated profusely before he finally told them some crucial information, “Wang Er always came to pawn stuff on the same day every month, but he has been coming more often recently.”
“Anything else?”
Xiaowu lowered his voice and gave Liu Quan pressure. Sure enough, Liu Quan got anxious and felt worried he would be tried as a suspect if he forgot any detail.
“Uh huh. Wang Er always comes with very expensive items. Some of them were so rare that I was unable to sell them, so they are still in my pawn shop.”
Since Liu Quan was unable to provide any more helpful information, Xiaowu continued, “Enough. You may leave. You will bring those things to the justice department later.”
Xiaowu noticed Liu Quan looking a little sad about turning those precious objects in as evidence before he made up his mind and bowed to Xiaowu. “Yes, Sir.”
After Liu Quan left, the jail cell became quiet. Wang Er continued kneeling unmoved. He seemed to have something against a gap on the ground as he kept staring fixedly at it with his eyes glued.
“Enough. Stop playing dumb. You have heard what Liu Quan said for yourself. Stop hiding the truth from us.”
Xiaowu gestured for the guard to raise Wang Er’s head Wang Er. “We have witnesses and evidence of your crimes. Now that we know about you selling things belonging to the dead, how long do you think you can go on hiding the truth?”
“Since you have the evidence, then just kill us.”
Wang Er looked desperate and hopeless like he wanted to die.
“You!”
Xiaowu thought about those missing burial workers and felt certain they were murdered.
The citizens who came to report the matter came from all age groups. Among them, he seemed to recall a married woman with an infant in her arms who was barely a month old.
They looked so worried when they came to report missing family members that Xiaowu couldn’t help feeling sad for them.
Xiaowu remembered the lady he encountered near Uncle Gen’s residence. She was relatively well dressed, but she lost her mind after her family member went missing. She was young and deserved to have a blissful family.
Xiaowu felt overwhelmed by sadness as a sour taste rose in his mouth.
Mu Bai often mentioned how bitter goldthread root was. This must be how it tasted.
Xiaowu slapped Wang Er at full force leaving Wang Er’s face instantly swollen.
His head tilted sideways and the skin on the corner of his lips got slightly torn.
“Ptooey!”
Wang Er coughed blood from his mouth and spat it out along with a tooth.
“Hahahaha!”
