Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 134
Chapter 134 Move in
Chu Yunshen did his utmost to hold his breath and spoke more coldly than usual.
Cheng Xiaoxiao quietly watched as Chu Yunshen spoke feebly and couldn’t help laughing.
She didn’t see such retribution coming.
Despite Chu Yunshen’s gorgeous appearance, his reaction was hilarious when he ended up suffering from this stink bomb attack.
Uh huh. Cheng Xiaoxiao felt Xiaowu was a huge stink bomb now.
Cheng Xiaoxiao found it so smelly that she felt the case stank as well. She was incapable of focusing with the smell in the air.
If Xiaowu knew what Cheng Xiaoxiao was thinking, he would feel furious. Sadly, he continued updating Chu Yunshen about the case solemnly, “Also, after I started working for them, I learned there was some conflict within them previously.”
Xiaowu felt absolutely smug about his excellent performance. “I think those missing burial workers could have gotten killed by them.”
“What about those previous cases of missing people?”
Chu Yunshen had already read all the cases Xiaowu sent. In his heart, he knew this was no coincidence.
Cheng Xiaoxiao had read the files occasionally when Chu Yunshen was studying them. Xiaowu said they were in the business of selling precious objects stolen from the dead. A bold thought rose in Cheng Xiaoxiao’s mind.
Was it possible that conflict always existed among the burial workers so they kept killing each other all these years?
Just the thought sent goosebumps down Cheng Xiaoxiao’s back.
That was a scary thought!
If they were willing to kill so many people for wealth, they were absolutely ruthless!
The moment Chu Yunshen asked about the past cases, Xiaowu lost his cockiness and looked sheepish.
“Master, I don’t know why those people have gone missing yet.”
“However…”
Xiaowu must be trying to come up with something. Cheng Xiaoxiao could tell from the way Xiaowu’s eyes lighted up with his head lowered.
She was right.
“I think after we arrest them and interrogate them, we will definitely uncover the truth,” said Xiaowu confidently to Chu Yunshen. However, Chu Yunshen didn’t have any reaction.
Since Xiaowu was having such a hard time working on the case, Cheng Xiaoxiao felt Xiaowu’s previously round face was starting to look sharper.
He had put in a lot of effort on the case. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have made a breakthrough so quickly.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked at Xiaowu and suddenly didn’t find him as smelly as before. Also, she found him slightly more pleasant.
“Also, I found out they would sell the plunder on the same day every month. I suggest taking them down in a few days so that we can catch them red-handed!”
Xiaowu instantly looked smug again. After he reported the last of his updates, he lowered his head and patiently awaited Chu Yunshen’s orders.
“Handle it. I want to see what kind of ghosts and demons are behind this case.”
Chu Yunshen was still trying to hold his breath and Cheng Xiaoxiao’s ears turned slightly red from watching.
Tsk. Poor thing! He could no longer suppress himself.
Since Cheng Xiaoxiao clearly seemed pitiful and kept looking at Chu Yunshen very intently, he quickly caught her looking.
However, he merely looked at Cheng Xiaoxiao briefly before veering his eyes.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was at a loss when she saw Chu Yunshen doing it deliberately.
Why did she have a feeling Chu Yunshen was a lot colder to her and kept avoiding her?
Cheng Xiaoxiao found this inconceivable. She walked towards Chu Yunshen just as Xiaowu finished his report and turned to leave.
Cheng Xiaoxiao almost bumped into Xiaowu. She almost flipped over and died from Xiaowu’s stench when he suddenly came close to her.
Chu Yunshen didn’t try to be polite anymore. Xiaowu sensed a shadow sweeping past him and the lion cat on the ground disappeared.
He was bending over to pick up the lion cat and was now awkwardly standing frozen.
“You are dismissed.” Chu Yunshen held the lion cat in his arms as he walked inside the room without turning back leaving Xiaowu standing there quietly.
Just as Xiaowu was about to turn and leave, he heard Chu Yunshen saying airily, “Go take a bath now.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao could almost hear something shattering into a million pieces outside. It was probably Xiaowu’s fragile heart.
Even if Chu Yunshen had hurt his feelings, Xiaowu had to accept his orders immediately.
Xiaowu especially took a bath and put on an even more worn-out outfit before heading to Uncle Gen’s place with the promissory note.
After showing Wang Er and the others the promissory note, they stopped asking about his debt.
For the next few days, Xiaowu proceeded to bury the dead at the unmarked burial gravesite and scatter medicinal powder without staying to steal anything.
After mid-month, it would be time for them to resell those stolen goods.
Uncle Gen especially followed them to the unmarked burial gravesite that day. After all the new burial workers had left, Xiaowu asked Wang Er for permission to be excused.
“Er, I have a tummyache…”
Xiaowu squatted down as beads of sweat trickled down his forehead.
“Why did you suddenly get a tummyache?” Wang Er was not suspicious this time. Instead, he looked at Xiaowu worriedly. “Are you okay? Do you want to go back first?”
“I-I’m okay. I just need to use the bathroom…” Xiaowu shook his head sheepishly.
“Go on! What are you waiting for?”
Wang Er couldn’t decide if Xiaowu was plain honest or stupid. This was no time to feel embarrassed.
That was just what Xiaowu was waiting for him to say.
“Thanks, Er.”
Xiaowu looked at Wang Er thankfully. He kept looking back at Wang Er as he left.
Wang Er powerlessly waved his hand at Xiaowu and gestured him to go on as he shook his head and smiled.
After Xiaowu reached high ground, he stood behind it and took off his human skin mask. Tingzhu and the others were already waiting for him here.
The moment Tingzhu and the others saw Xiaowu, their eyes lit up as they asked, “Xiaowu, can we move in now?”
“Yes, you can. Remember to be fast and quiet. One more guy from their organization is outside.”
Xiaowu stopped acting down to earth and innocent as he calmly planned the attack.
“Xiaowu, don’t worry! This time, only our bros are involved. We are far better than those rookies at the justice department.”
Since Nongying was still young, he was not as mature. He could not help talking big when Xiaowu gave the order.
During the time Xiaowu spent with Wang Er and the others, Li Erfa kept going on nonstop about the brotherhood that he could not help feeling PTSD the moment Nongying mentioned it.
Xiaowu reached his leg out and kicked Nongying hard. “Stop fooling around and get to work! Be quick so that we can go home quickly.”
“Yes, Xiaowu!”
Nongying didn’t get angry from the kick. He stood back among the men and looked cold.
They ran down from behind high ground.
Wang Er was unusually happy and couldn’t stop laughing. “It looks like we can get a big cut this time! I will buy you a drink tonight!”
“Uh huh. We made another killing.” Li Erfa held a piece of jade jewelry excitedly with some translucent fluid flowing from the corner of his mouth. From the looks of it, he was drooling.
Ming Zi quietly smiled as he looked at them and continued covering the holes they had dug before carefully sprinkling some medicinal powder over the spots.
“Where is Xiaowu?”
Li Erfa finally realized they were one man short and anxiously looked at Wang Er as he gestured for Wang Er to look for Xiaowu.
“Don’t worry. He needed a bathroom.”
Wang Er counted off the bills in his hands nonchalantly. He had just found them on a rich merchant’s body.
“Shouldn’t he be back by now?” asked Wang Er worriedly. He had looked away briefly to look up at the sky to check the time when he was counting off the money.
“I don’t know. Maybe cowards have more shit in their system.” Li Erfa raised his head and glanced around the gravesite. “If he doesn’t come back in a moment, we will look for him. Don’t worry about it.”
He patted Wang Er on the shoulder to console him before he stood up to check the high ground without realizing there were people hiding in the darkness.
Tingzhu swooped in swiftly like a bird and appeared in front of Wang Er.
Wang Er was counting off the money when he suddenly saw a black silhouette and went stunned. By the time he caught sight of Tingzhu’s outfit, he instantly looked scared.
Initially, he wanted to shout for help, but Tingzhu had pressed his dumbness acupoint, so he was incapable of speaking.
“Er, Xiaowu is…”
Li Erfa turned back and saw Wang Er already captured before he finished his sentence.
He stopped thinking about the loot and attempted to run. Sadly, Nongying hit him and made him pass out.
Ming Zi was probably the calmest person in the lot. Initially, he was very frightened. The moment he saw what became of his peers, he closed his eyes and squatted on the ground quietly.
Xiaowu had already gone over to the unmarked burial site to apprehend Uncle Gen while Tingzhu and the others were busy capturing the rest.
Xiaowu looked around the burial site, but Uncle Gen was nowhere to be seen. He could only go back empty-handed. He frowned when he noticed that Li Erfa had passed out.
“Who hit him? If he passes out, how are we taking him back?”
Tingzhu and Songtao acted nonchalantly, so Nongying had no choice but to admit to hitting him.
Xiaowu nodded his head and gestured for Nongying to carry Li Erfa.
Tingzhu noticed Xiaowu came back empty-handed and asked, “Where is Uncle Gen?”
“He escaped.”
The moment they mentioned this, Xiaowu looked awkward. After all, he was the only person who failed to nab his target.
He was hoping he could act like nothing happened and felt no one would notice it. Instead, Tingzhu just had to ask.
Nongying noticed Xiaowu’s awkwardness, so he wasn’t as indignant about carrying Li Erfa anymore. He laughed for so long that Xiaowu was worried Li Erfa might regain consciousness.
“Enough. I will report this to Master. Let’s go back!”
Xiaowu wanted to help Tingzhu take Wang Er back when Ming Zi suddenly raised his head and looked at him.
“Are you Xiaowu?”
Ming Zi probably recognized him when the Xiaowu they knew failed to return after so long and Tingzhu just called him Xiaowu.
From the looks of it, Ming Zi was pretty smart. Now that the mission was complete, Xiaowu didn’t have to worry about getting exposed.
He nodded towards Ming Zi in silent acknowledgment.
The moment Ming Zi saw Xiaowu’s response, he was unsurprised before his eyes have quickly lost all life once more.
