Lose My Heart to the Lovely Kitten Princess - Chapter 103
Chapter 103 The Fairy Dress
“Is that so?” Imperial consort Su spoke intentionally. She had closed her eyes as she thoroughly enjoyed this rare occasion when her son massaged her, but swiftly opened them when she heard what he wanted.
She studied Chu Hongyi without sparing any details. “Why did you charge in here to ask for the dress?”
Chu Hongyi turned awkwardly and refused to make eye contact with imperial consort Su. “I was curious and wanted to look at it.”
“Do you know that this dress was made using mystical plants from the Divine Penglai Island? According to the envoy who sent the tribute, this dress has celestial qualities. I am reluctant to wear it normally. Your father only gave me the dress when I gave birth to you since he knew how much I adored it.”
“Of course I know this. You are a natural beauty, so you don’t need it to complement your good looks.”
Chu Hongyi stood by the side as he pushed imperial consort Su’s arms and implored her innocently.
Imperial consort Su didn’t get fooled by Chu Hongyi’s flattery. She turned her head to tease Chu Hongyi, “Have you fallen for some girl?”
Chu Hongyi’s face instantly flushed red as he retorted softly, “Not at all! Stop making fun of me! It’s not like I want the dress that badly.”
“I was just kidding. Did you have to get angry?” Imperial consort Su could tell Chu Hongyi was about to sulkily leave out of embarrassment.
From the looks of it, she could only continue to sound him out in the future.
Imperial consort Su found it sad that she couldn’t even ask when her son had found a girl he fancied.
However, now was the time to accede to Chu Hongyi’s request. “Fine. I believe you if that’s what you say! If you want the dress, I can give it to you. I will give you anything you want.”
“Thanks, Mother! You’re the most understanding person on earth. It’s no wonder that Father adores you.”
Now that Chu Hongyi had gotten what he came for, he didn’t linger. He hurriedly bowed to his mother before he left.
His mind was in such chaos after his mother asked whether he fancied a girl that he clean forgot about taking the outfit from his mother.
“Hey, you…” Imperial consort Su wanted to say more, but Chu Hongyi disappeared in a split second.
Imperial consort Su felt speechless about this son of hers. She indulgently shook her head as she sent a maid to retrieve the Fairy Dress and go after Chu Hongyi. If she didn’t send the dress right away, she was worried that he might end up angry and not talk to her
The palace maid went after Chu Hongyi without any delay, so he was finally appeased and went back to his quarters with the fairy dress exhilaratingly.
“Xiaoxiao, I’m back!” Chu Hongyi pushed Jinxiu Palace’s door hard and ran up in front of Cheng Xiaoxiao excitedly. “I have sent for food, so it will get here in a minute. Also, I brought you a special gift.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao had dozed off while waiting for him, but the commotion Chu Hongyi caused woke her up. She pushed his handsome face away angrily.
She reached her paw out and gestured to ask Chu Hongyi what he had for her.
Chu Hongyi kept up the suspense and only urged her to go inside and get dressed. “Go put on this dress. I will tell you more while we eat.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao wanted to refuse, but Chu Hongyi had already pushed her into the inner quarters along with the dress.
Cheng Xiaoxiao transformed into human form and got changed before she saw herself in the full-length mirror.
Since it was a bronze mirror, it wasn’t very clear. Instead, a soft glow radiated from it.
Cheng Xiaoxiao looked the same through the reflection in the mirror.
She had an oval-shaped face and big bright dark-colored eyes.
Her cheeks were slightly pink, and her lips were delicate and she was dressed in the ethereal Fairy Dress.
Elaborate flowers were woven into the sky blue broad-sleeved robe. The layers of collars were embellished by white pearls in the shape of clouds and looked heavenly. It gave off a dignified aura.
She was covered with an airy sky blue shawl that was made with silver thread. The skirt was cool blue in color. Even though there was no wind, it undulated slightly as it gave off a faint floral scent.
The dress swung gently when she turned. The embroidery at her chest was done in gold and silver and adorned by countless pearls that set each other off brilliantly.
She was curious how it was dyed. It was vibrantly colored and had an airy texture.
It was dazzling under the sun and gave off a celestial aura.
It certainly made her beautiful and complemented her flawless complexion.
Hang on. The clothes on Cheng Xiaoxiao seemed loose in the reflection.
It was certainly too large!
Just as Cheng Xiaoxiao was about to gripe about Chu Hongyi getting her size wrong, she realized that it wasn’t her imagination when she felt it had celestial qualities.
Some smoke billowed in the air as a light radiated from it with the floral scent intensifying.
Were there even special effects?
Cheng Xiaoxiao was a little startled and wanted to take off the dress when she noticed that she was even prettier now in the mirror.
More importantly, this outfit fit her perfectly now and seemed as though it was custom-made for her.
Even though the dress was form-fitting, it didn’t feel tight at all. Despite all the pearls embellished on it, it didn’t feel heavy.
Cheng Xiaoxiao felt as though the dress had become one with her.
Was it magic?
Was she capable of transforming into a beautiful young woman?
However, this dress seemed a little familiar.
“Xiaoxiao, are you done?” chased Chu Hongyi from the outside. Cheng Xiaoxiao was trying to figure out where she had seen the dress before in her head when he interrupted her. “Xiaoxiao, the food is ready. You can come out and eat once you’re ready.”
The moment Cheng Xiaoxiao heard that the food was ready, she snapped out of her thoughts and darted outside.
Never mind. No matter what dress it was, feasting was a top priority now!
Chu Hongyi’s eyes lit up. He stared at Cheng Xiaoxiao fixedly. “Xiaoxiao, you look great in the dress. You look just like a fairy!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao couldn’t be bothered talking to him. She wolfed down the delicacies before her and didn’t have the time to answer Chu Hongyi.
Chu Hongyi didn’t feel dismissed. Instead, he automatically introduced the dress to Cheng Xiaoxiao. “This is the Fairy Dress. I heard it was made of mystical plants from Divine Penglai Island. The island is very far away and surrounded by celestial energy, so the dress has the same qualities. If you wear this dress, you won’t have to worry about clothing when you take human form.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao swallowed the food in her mouth so hard that tears nearly trickled from her eyes.
Sure enough, she was incapable of eating as much after not doing so in human form for so long.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was caught by surprise. “The Fairy Dress? Isn’t that Long Kui’s dress?” (Long Kui is a female character in the Chinese fantasy drama The Legend of Sword and Fairy, who owned the same Fairy Dress )
Chu Hongyi didn’t understand what Cheng Xiaoxiao meant, so he scratched his head awkwardly. “Who’s Long Kui?”
“Erm… It’s nobody. Just a friend that you don’t know.”
“I see. You should introduce us when you have the chance. It’s always good to have more friends.” Chu Hongyi waved his hand. He randomly picked up a fried spring roll, place it into his mouth, and muttered to Cheng Xiaoxiao about it, “This fried spring roll is yummy. Try some! Just give it a taste!”
“Okay. I’m eating. Have some too…” The moment Chu Hongyi recommended the fried spring roll, Cheng Xiaoxiao was instantly drawn to the table full of delicacies.
Just as she was about to continue feasting, it suddenly dawned on her that she promised Wan Xia to come home early today. “Oh no! is it that late already? I have to head back!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao stuffed three more prawn dumplings into her mouth before she patted Chu Hongyi on the shoulder. “I have to go! If Chu Yunshen finds out I have snuck out, he’s going to blow his top again.”
Despite Chu Hongyi’s reluctance, he couldn’t force Cheng Xiaoxiao to stay, so they got onto his carriage and hurried back to Prince Jing’s residence.
“That will do. I will go in using the dog hole.” Cheng Xiaoxiao was concerned about the situation back home, so she didn’t waste time talking to Chu Hongyi.
“But you are still in human form.” The moment Chu Hongyi finished his sentence, Cheng Xiaoxiao ran out of spiritual energy and gradually became transparent before she finally transformed into a white lion cat in front of him.
Chu Hongyi went speechless, “…”
She simply transformed without warning at perfect timing.
“Xiaoxiao, the dress didn’t fall off this time!” Chu Hongyi was even more excited than Cheng Xiaoxiao. He hugged Cheng Xiaoxiao and praised her, “Sure enough, the dress looks out of this world as expected from legend. I just knew it was the perfect dress for you. It looks like it was custom-made for you!”
Cheng Xiaoxiao already knew the outfit was extraordinary when she heard Chu Hongyi say it was the legendary Fairy Dress.
Initially, she thought it could only automatically fit the wearer’s size. However, it could shockingly make itself invisible.
From the looks of it, it wasn’t an illusion when she felt that she had become one with the dress.
Then again, the previous owners of the dress, Zhao Feiyan and Long Kui were no ordinary folks.
It was a fairy dress, so it was able to stop Zhao Feiyan from becoming a deity and change color based on Long Kui’s personality. It was certainly an impressive dress.
Now that Cheng Xiaoxiao had witnessed its prowess first hand, she could not help feeling excited. Mostly, she felt proud when Chu Hongyi praised her beauty.
She would have continued feeling proud if Chu Yunshen’s face didn’t flash in her mind.
Cheng Xiaoxiao instantly got worried thinking about Chu Yunshen, so she gestured with her paw to ask Chu Hongyi to send her to the dog hole immediately.
Chu Hongyi reluctantly sent Cheng Xiaoxiao to the dog hole. He opened his mouth and wanted to ask her to stay longer but couldn’t bring himself to ask. “Take care. See you tomorrow.”
Cheng Xiaoxiao waved goodbye to Chu Hongyi perfunctorily before she darted off quickly.
However, Cheng Xiaoxiao must be having a bad streak this year.
Chu Yunshen caught her red-handed after she walked up to the corridor while he was on his way to Wan Xia’s quarters to pick her up.
The man and the cat were both standing in the corridor looking at each other.
Xiaowu looked at Chu Yunshen’s angry face. It was so cold that it felt as though he had fallen into an ice cellar.
He quietly wiped the cold sweat from his brow and prayed for Cheng Xiaoxiao. she had better hope that Chu Yunshen was in a forgiving mood today.
Now that she was caught red-handed two days in a row, Chu Yunshen was bound to punish her.
Cheng Xiaoxiao was feeling equally guilty and speechless. Why did she end up caught again?
What kind of bad luck was she having recently? She was simply too unlucky!
Before Chu Yunshen said a word, Cheng Xiaoxiao made the initiative to run towards Chu Yunshen and pull his robe with her paws and shook it a little.
Pretending to be adorable was bound to work, right?
Cheng Xiaoxiao kept acting cute to Chu Yunshen and rubbed him so hard that her head felt sore.
Stupid man! Hurry up and pick her up!
Sigh! She gave up.
