Legend of Dragon Son-in-law - Chapter 413:
Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Call Your Manager Here_1
“Boss? We don’t know your boss!”
Knox Ridge looked at the waiter who had walked in, thinking there had been a mistake.
In a place like this, a good bottle of red wine costs tens of thousands, and if it were mistakenly served and they drank it, it would be quite uncomfortable when the bill came.
“Aren’t you friends with Burl Radcliffe?”
Bryson Ridge glanced at Burl Radcliffe; hadn’t he called a friend to cut in line earlier?
Could there be someone else?
“It’s not me…”
Burl Radcliffe looked at Julius Reed, noticed that Julius Reed hadn’t said anything, but simply took the red wine with a smile and said, “Thank you for your boss’s kindness.”
The waiter nodded, handed over the red wine, and then turned and left.
“This wine isn’t bad…”
Just as Julius Reed had taken a look at the bottle in his hand, Lewis Leocadia snatched it away.
“Pauper! What do you know! This is red wine, not the beer you drink! This bottle is worth tens of thousands, don’t you accidentally break it!”
He held the bottle carefully in his hand, examining it closely and nodding, “This wine is a good item, worth at least a hundred thousand a bottle!”
Lewis Leocadia wasn’t lying about this point; although he lived off a woman, his overseas wife came from a petit bourgeoisie family that had a fondness for red wine.
So, he had done a bit of research.
“My friend is really generous!”
Lewis Leocadia put the bottle back and said very proudly.
“Your friend, what do you mean?”
Knox Ridge asked.
Why would sending a bottle of wine come with such a remark?
“I forgot to tell you all, but the reason we were able to come to this Vaughn Danvers Hall is all thanks to my friend’s arrangements, the owner of the restaurant.”
Lewis Leocadia boasted with a smug expression.
Since Burl Radcliffe didn’t know the owner, it was a good opportunity to take the credit and show off.
“Wasn’t it Burl from our family?”
Knox Ridge asked with a frown.
It was clearly Burl Radcliffe who had found a friend to skip the line, and that’s how they got to Vaughn Danvers Hall.
How did the credit fall onto Lewis Leocadia?
“Auntie, think about it, can just anyone come to Vaughn Danvers Hall?” Lewis Leocadia pointed to the spacious private room: “This is the highest standard private room in the restaurant. In Burl’s circle, could he know someone like that?”
With that said, Bryson Ridge also slapped her thigh: “Oh! Is it that friend you met overseas? I’ve heard you mention him before.”
With an opportunity to show off like this, how could Bryson Ridge let it go? She immediately went along with Lewis Leocadia, making it sound like the truth.
“Right! We had a bit of business together before, and when he heard I was coming to Gonzalez City, he specifically said he wanted to arrange a meal for me, reserving such a large private room just for me. Otherwise, do you think with all those wealthy people lining up downstairs, by virtue of Burl’s friends, we could have gotten such a good spot?”
Lewis Leocadia spoke with a shake of his head, utterly self-satisfied.
“If he hadn’t been busy, today’s meal would have been on the house. But I don’t want to owe favors, and besides, Auntie, you wouldn’t mind the expense, right?”
He shook the bottle of red wine: “One hundred thousand yuan, it’s on me!”
After hearing this explanation, Knox Ridge’s complexion began to sour again.
She had thought it was Burl Radcliffe’s friend, but now, upon reflection, how could Burl have that kind of clout?
Knox Ridge had heard of Roosevelt Western Restaurant, supposedly owned by Gonzalez City’s richest man, Ovidiu Cook.
But now it seems there might be someone else involved; if it’s as Lewis Leocadia said, it’s very likely the case.
Otherwise, how could one explain why they were given Vaughn Danvers Hall when dozens of people, including many wealthy patrons, were queuing up that evening?
And, on top of it all, they were served a bottle of expensive red wine before dinner.
Moreover, as soon as Lewis Leocadia came in, he immediately didn’t have to wait in line anymore. Quella Radcliffe had waited a long time before she said she knew a friend.
“So, you see, one still needs to be excellent! If it weren’t for Lewis being so outstanding and knowing even more excellent friends, we would probably still be queuing down there. Quella’s friend could at most allow us to sit in the main hall.”
Bryson Ridge’s interest perked up again; she thought Lewis Leocadia was telling the truth.
Being able to show off in front of Knox Ridge, especially seeing her sister looking unhappy, made her exceptionally joyful.
“Let’s eat! Let’s start eating; we’re all hungry.”
The waiter had just come in with the steak when Burl Radcliffe started to smooth things over.
He didn’t possess such a strong utilitarian mindset, but he had ended up with a wife who loved comparisons and there wasn’t much he could do about it.
“Alright, I’ll start pouring the wine for everyone. Waiter, do you have a decanter?”
Lewis Leocadia immediately showed off his wide range of knowledge, eating with particular care and even his knife and fork posture was very standard.
On the other hand, Julius Reed directly asked for a pair of chopsticks, grabbing the steak and wolfing it down.
“Hey! Be mindful! This is Western dining, not eating at your home!”
Lewis Leocadia looked at Julius Reed with disdain, “First time eating Western food, huh? Don’t choke; eat slowly!”
Seeing Julius’s manner, he couldn’t help but laugh.
Although he was also very hungry, he still endured the growling of his stomach, eating bit by bit.
“Hungry! We’re poor; haven’t had steak before!”
Julius Reed continued eating while chuckling naively, looking just like someone entering the city for the first time.
“Quella, really! Even if you look down on your husband, you should still take him out for Western food! What will he do without any exposure?”
While pouring the wine, Lewis Leocadia mocked Julius Reed.
“Lewis, don’t say that! Not every person can be as outstanding as you, how many people in a group of ten thousand are as exceptional as you? Julius here is just genuine!”
She pursed her lips, smiling, almost infuriating Knox Ridge who was beside her.
“Julius Reed! Pay attention and stop embarrassing me!”
She scolded irritably, looking at how gentlemanly Lewis Leocadia ate, while her son-in-law, on the contrary, was simply like a glutton!
Lewis Leocadia, however, spoke up to convince her, “Aunt, it’s his first time after all, don’t stop him. Who knows when he’ll eat this again.”
Although he said so, his words were full of mockery.
“It’s just a meal of Western food; our house isn’t that poor!”
Quella Radcliffe said coldly, “We’re all family here, why can’t we eat in a way that’s comfortable for us? Why must we put on a front?”
She couldn’t stand seeing her husband being ridiculed by others.
“It’s fine! Brother Lewis is often abroad, has seen much of the world, how can I, a country bumpkin, compare.”
Julius Reed waved his hand and downed the wine glass in one gulp.
“Some more, sweet!”
He extended his glass, but Lewis Leocadia pushed it away, “This is red wine, not water! The sip you just took is worth thousands! Scram! Is this something for someone of your status to drink?”
Seeing Julius Reed finish the drink in one gulp, he got angry.
Wasn’t this a waste of good things?
“Attention, everyone!”
Just then, a group of security guards suddenly flooded into the Vaughn Danvers Room.
“What’s going on? What’s the matter?”
Lewis Leocadia, who was closest to the door, saw the people rushing in and stood up, slamming the table, “Don’t you see we are having a meal? Call your manager!”
“I am the manager!”
A middle-aged man in a suit walked in from outside.
