Legend of Dragon Son-in-law - Chapter 375
Chapter 375: Chapter 375 Fake Piano Bullet_1
“Does Bran Cook have some unspeakable difficulties? If it’s troublesome, just pretend I didn’t say anything,” Quella Radcliffe said, noticing Bran Cook’s expression and feeling a sense of loss.
It seemed that she was destined to leave empty-handed today.
“Oh no!”
Bran Cook hastily gestured with his hands: “Miss Radcliffe must be misunderstanding me.”
He straightened his suit and said with a light smile, “Although Cook may not be talented, I still have billions at my disposal, but… why should I lend them to you?”
After saying this, Bran Cook quickly waved his hands: “Don’t get me wrong. You also know the current market situation; everyone fears the Radcliffe Group. My money doesn’t just belong to me, it also belongs to my family, and even to the employees of my company.”
Three billion—if she couldn’t get the money, Quella Radcliffe would go from a high and mighty CEO to a bankrupt debtor.
She might even never be able to turn things around for the rest of her life.
Given that Gonzalez City was becoming more and more aggressive in suppressing the big shots of the Radcliffe Group, lending out this money was almost like throwing it away.
But to win a beauty with three billion, for Bran Cook, it was only gain without loss.
It was a blood profit!
“I have to give everyone an explanation, right? If others ask, why did I lend money to a group that even the banks are unwilling to loan to, what should I answer? Can I say I was wrong?”
He spread his hands, looking somewhat helpless: “There’s a high probability that you won’t be able to pay back the money. I think Miss Radcliffe also knows that the people of Gonzalez City don’t seem to be very friendly towards your Radcliffe Group.”
As the saying goes, when the wall falls, everybody pushes it; when the drum is broken, every man will strike it.
Some companies that had no grievances with the Radcliffe Group on ordinary days also took action to suppress it at this time.
“Bankers are not fools; they all dare not lend money to me. Why should I dare? Unless…”
Bran Cook swirled the red wine in his glass.
“Unless what?”
Quella Radcliffe asked with furrowed brows.
Cook’s reasoning was sound, but if it weren’t so, why would she have sneaked in to attend this banquet, allowing Bran Cook to imply such things?
“If you were my woman, it wouldn’t just be three billion—even thirty billion I, Bran Cook, wouldn’t blink an eye! By then, quite a few people in Gonzalez City would respect Bran Cook’s face and hold back from targeting the Radcliffe Group for the time being, and you might be able to turn things around,” Bran Cook realized Quella Radcliffe was a smart person, and since playing it softly didn’t work, he had to be more forceful.
“Even if you can’t turn things around, with me around, you could still have more money than you could ever spend!”
He looked directly at Quella Radcliffe and snapped his fingers lightly.
Clack!
In an instant, the lights at the banquet all went out, and a beam of red light illuminated Bran Cook and Quella Radcliffe, making them the most eye-catching focus in the room.
And a piano, already prepared to the side, was brought up and placed before Bran Cook.
“This piece, dedicated to the love of my life.”
He put down his wine glass, walked slowly to the piano, and began to play.
“Wow! Bran Cook really is a lady killer, I can’t take it anymore!”
“Is it not the most romantic thing? Bran Cook is not only handsome but also so talented! If I had a boyfriend like that, living ten years less would be worth it!”
“Isn’t that Quella Radcliffe, the talented woman of Gonzalez City from three years ago?”
Under the light, there were only Bran Cook and Quella Radcliffe.
“Don’t deny Bran Cook this face!”
Someone cautiously reminded her from behind Quella Radcliffe.
The sound of the piano slowly started, and more than a hundred people at the banquet held their breath, intently watching the scene before them.
The melodious music came from all directions, soothing to the soul.
Many people were intoxicated by the piano sound, simply closing their eyes to savor it slowly.
Meanwhile, Bran Cook, like a prince, sat in white clothes on the chair, playing the piano at a leisurely pace.
Every movement was so elegant, the epitome of a gentleman.
“Isn’t that Quella Radcliffe?” Yasser Davenport nudged Julius Reed, who was eating, his eyes wide as they fixed on the two under the lights.
“What did you say?” Julius Reed took a sip of his drink, wiped his mouth, and walked over, only to find Bran Cook playing the piano with his wife.
Around them, waiters had filled the space with roses.
“Bro, what’s going on?” Yasser Davenport remained in shock.
In his mind, Quella Radcliffe was a decent person who would never do something so shameless.
“Divorced!”
Julius Reed said unhurriedly; half of Gonzalez City probably knew about Quella Radcliffe’s divorce through Knox Ridge’s mouth.
Knox Ridge would surely spread the news and even claim that Julius Reed was a good-for-nothing who had not touched Quella Radcliffe once in their three years of marriage.
In fact, that was exactly what Knox Ridge had done.
But what was more outrageous was that she publicized that Julius Reed was impotent, a wretch!
“Brother, take comfort. You’ll find someone better.”
Yasser Davenport cast a meaningful look at Julius Reed and turned to grab two bottles of wine. “Today, I’ll drink with you and have a good time. Don’t hold it in, it’s tough, isn’t it?”
This would be unbearable for anyone.
For a man, it was all about face!
“Have you noticed something’s off?” Julius Reed pricked up his ears, listening to the piano sound.
“What thing? How could that be okay? Your wife… oh no, your ex-wife, she’s romancing with someone right now!” Yasser Davenport pressed the wine bottle into Julius Reed’s hand and heaved a sigh.
He had always thought Julius Reed was a decent person, not as terrible as people said.
But Julius Reed didn’t drink; instead, he pointed at the piano: “His technique and pitch are entirely different! Look, the sound that comes out when he presses the keys is obviously not the same.”
Julius Reed thought carefully and immediately understood what was going on.
Bran Cook was faking it. Ostensibly playing the piano, he was actually playing a pre-recorded piece.
With such mastery, Bran Cook could not possibly have achieved it.
“Brother! What are you thinking about at a time like this?” Yasser Davenport touched Julius Reed’s forehead and mumbled to himself, “Take care of your health. There are plenty of women out there. Don’t get too worked up. Come on, have a drink!”
“I’ll drink later!”
Julius Reed set the wine bottle on the table, and taking advantage of the night, he stealthily moved to where the cord he remembered was located, then yanked it out with force!
The piano sound stopped abruptly.
But Bran Cook obviously didn’t realize it, his hands still pressing on the piano keys non-stop.
Someone immediately noticed something was wrong, and even Bran Cook’s men realized something was amiss and hurried over, whispering in Bran Cook’s ear, “Young master, stop playing, you’ll give it away!”
Only then did Bran Cook stop his hands, his face stern as he spoke softly, “What’s going on? At such a critical moment, what are you messing up?”
Although he could play the piano, it was only basic skills; he couldn’t possibly play such a good piece.
Now that the sound system was unplugged, Bran Cook had to turn around and look apologetically at the guests at the party: “I’m very sorry, there’s a problem with the piano, I can’t continue.”
“Is that so? May I sit down and give it a try?”
Just then, Julius Reed, holding a bottle of wine, called out from among the crowd.
