Chapter 63: Surrender
It was broad daylight, but the surrounding temperature had dropped to freezing levels. The cold atmosphere spread and a terrible chill swept over the area.
A figure appeared in the street like a ghost.
Every step that landed on the ground brought the figure hundreds of feet closer.
The figure weaved through the crowd, but the pedestrians on the street ignored him as if they didn’t see him.
Daoist Priest Xuan Yang seemed to sense something and hurriedly looked back.
When he saw Yin Jijie closing in on him again, he turned ashen-faced. A ray of green light converged on his finger and he quickly tapped his chest.
He suppressed his injuries again and began to flee frantically.
“I want to live!”
He rushed toward the nearest government office.
Li Heng and the others had just finished eating and came out of the restaurant.
“My Lord, the Divine Sword Guards and the Spiritual Divinity Bureau have gone too far. Are we just going to let this go?” A subordinate said indignantly.
Li Heng held back his anger. “Bullsh*t! When have I ever suffered such a huge loss? I was beaten up by them twice, and I didn’t even get to earn a single crumb of reward from the stolen silver last night. How can I let it go?”
“What do you have in mind, my Lord?”
“I’ve already asked the higher-ups for help. We’ll settle the score with them when they arrive.”
Daoist Priest Xuan Yang happened to rush over. When he saw Li Heng and the others wearing the official uniform of the Sacred Martial Bureau, his aged eyes lit up and his face was filled with relief. He quickly rushed over.
Grabbing Li Heng’s hand, he gushed, “I want to turn myself in!”
“Surrender?” Li Heng was dumbfounded.
“I have the tax money. Hurry up and arrest me,” Daoist Priest Xuan Yang said anxiously.
“Really?” Li Heng’s eyes lit up with anticipation.
It was a gift from heaven indeed. He hurriedly arrested Daoist Priest Xuan Yang and tied him up with chains.
“Congratulations, my Lord! Congratulations! This is such good luck. You can’t avoid it even if you want to!”
“My lord is blessed indeed. It won’t be surprising if you get promoted and become rich.”
His group of subordinates all began groveling at his feet.
Li Heng was very happy and said in a pleased manner, “Don’t worry! As long as I have my reward, you guys will have a share too!”
Just as he was about to lead the priest away,
Yin Jijie appeared before them, standing barely ten paces away. “Aren’t you going to run?”
“Who are you?” Li Heng’s expression turned icy cold.
Daoist Priest Xuan Yang pointed at him and shouted, “He’s a demon!”
“Double happiness?” Li Heng was excited at the prospect of arresting a demon.
He swiftly gave an order,
“Take him down!”
His group of his subordinates rushed forward, swords drawn in hand.
“With these useless creatures?” Yin Jijie asked scornfully.
With a casual wave of his right hand, a beam of green light shot out and sent all the men from the Sacred Martial Bureau flying.
One by one, they dropped down nearby, smashing through the ground. It was unknown whether they survived.
When the onlookers around them saw this, they turned tail and ran for their lives.
In an instant,
the busy street became deserted.
“Looks like I’ll have to do it myself,” Li Heng said in a menacing voice.
The aura of a Level 3 Grand Master erupted like a majestic arc, sweeping towards the demon.
“Run!” Daoist Priest Xuan Yang apparently did not think highly of Li Heng.
The priest activated his spirit energy and a burst of green light shot out. The huge force shattered the chains and he sped away from the scene.
“Don’t run!” Li Heng was furious at losing his prize.
He wanted to go after him, but there was Yin Jijie standing in front of him.
“I’ll take you down first before I go after this old priest.”
“Netherworld Divine Claws!”
A claw-shaped shadow emerged, whistling and tearing through the air. As he rushed forward, his claws made a violent grab at Yin Jijie’s vital points.
“Scram!” Yin Jijie said with a dismissive snort.
Without even looking at his attacker, he casually struck out with his palm, shattering his claw technique and slamming it into his chest. The violent force, along with the evil demonic aura, penetrated Li Heng’s body.
“Ah!” With a blood-curdling scream, Li Heng was thrown backwards and crashed into a house. As he landed, the falling debris buried him.
“You can’t escape from me once I’ve earmarked you as my prey.” Yin Jijie licked his lips in a sinister grin.
He went in hot pursuit of the demon again.
At the entrance of the Divine Sword Guards headquarters,
Little Zhou sat on the doorstep with his chin in his palm and a troubled expression. “Brother Xiao, it’s been three days. Why is there still no news?”
Xiao Ran shrugged. “They’re not stupid. After such a big commotion, they won’t appear for the time being, no matter what happens.”
“Wouldn’t it be nice if we simply sat at home and the credit fell from the sky?”
“Looks like you may be right this time.” Xiao Ran said as he looked to the left.
An old Daoist Priest was running frantically in their direction.
As he ran, he looked back from time to time, as if a great terrifying presence was chasing him.
Looking at the gate of the Divine Sword Guards headquarters, Daoist Priest Xuan Yang shouted agitatedly, “The tax money is with me. I want to turn myself in!”
Little Zhou came to life instantly and jumped up. “Brother Xiao, we really picked up a great credit.”
“Yes.” Xiao Ran nodded in agreement.
They rushed over and arrested Daoist Priest Xuan Yang.
At this moment, Yin Jijie had also caught up. As he looked at the gates of the Divine Sword Guards headquarters, his expression became uncertain. He hesitated, not knowing if he should attack this place.
“Demon! I’ve been looking for you for three days. I didn’t expect to find you here. Let’s see where you can escape to today.” Old Gu’s roar came out from nowhere.
“Stubborn old fart!” Yin Jijie grumbled gloomily.
Three days ago, he had used a secret technique to shake this old fellow off his tail. He did not expect to bump into him again.
He clenched his fists in humiliation. If not for his fear of the opponent’s Immense Righteous Energy, he would have deep-fried him and enjoyed him slowly.
“Wolf demon, don’t you want to eat me? I’m right in front of you. Come and eat!” Daoist Priest Xuan Yang laughed at him in provocation.
“You have no right to speak here.” Little Zhou punched him and knocked him to the ground.
“You must be tired of living!” Yin Jijie roared back, incensed by the taunting.
Just as he was about to step forward, Old Gu attacked him out of nowhere. The Immense Righteous Energy gushed forward and transformed into a huge sword that locked onto him. In the next instant, it slashed towards him in an overpowering fashion.
“Ah…” Yin Jijie howled indignantly.
He gave up the ‘feast’ that was so close at hand and fled in a whirl of demonic wind.
“A wolf demon at Level 2 of the Profound Realm?” Xiao Ran thought to himself.
A stream of purifying spiritual force shot out from Old Gu’s fingertips and caught up to Yin Jijie at lightning speed, penetrating into his body.
Pow!
In the next instant, the sword-shaped Immense Righteous Energy landed, leaving a terrifying sword gash on the ground.
“Where are you going!” Old Gu bellowed out.
He went in hot pursuit of the demon again.
After so much commotion at the entrance, Shen Yiming and the others came rushing out of the building.
“What happened?” Qin Fangzhen asked.
“Old Gu went chasing after the wolf demon,” Xiao Ran reported.
Qin Fangzhen became very excited. He instructed, “Shen Yiming, you and the other two, take the old Daoist priest to the Celestial Dungeon. The rest of you, follow me to go after the wolf demon.”
“Seal his shoulder bones!” Shen Yiming quickly recovered himself and issued an order.
“Yes,” Xiao Ran replied.
With a lightning-like tap on Daoist Priest Xuan Yang’s chest, twelve consecutive shots of Heavenly Slave Finger were injected into his body and sealed his shoulder bones.
During the whole process,
Daoist Priest Xuan Yang did not resist, and appeared very docile.
At this point,
Shen Yiming could finally relax and let his guard down. He looked at Xiao Ran and Little Zhou. “What happened?”
“I was sitting at the door, lamenting how wonderful it would be if I could only sit at home and pick up credit without any effort. Then, Brother Xiao said the credit had arrived. And then, we saw that priest presenting himself to us on a silver platter.” Little Zhou gave a simple introduction.
“You guys have made a great contribution again. I can get a small share of credit as well.” Shen Yiming was elated.
