Chapter 206: Lawsuit
Jin Yang clenched his fists and stared at Song Yan silently. He then issued a direct warning. “Don’t go near them again!”
“If you insist on causing trouble, I will definitely use my status to chase you out of this city. I won’t have any mercy even on account of our past ties.”
Song Yan gently patted off his sleeves, a mocking and dark expression flashing across his eyes.
He straightened his collar and raised an eyebrow at Jin Yang. “You dare to let Jin Tao know of Qiu Tong’s existence?”
“My dear President, you should understand the situation. The love between the president and a civilian may sound very romantic and touching, but Qiu Tong and the children will be the ones hurt in the end! On the other hand, I’m different. I’m their best choice. Qiu Tong will understand sooner or later!”
“I will continue to use legal means to fight for my rights. Just wait and see!”
Song Yan left with his hands in his pockets.
Jin Yang stood under the streetlamp outside the villa district. The light elongated his figure, but he looked extremely lonely.
…
In the bedroom, Qiu Tong searched for hundreds of photos of Jin Yang and Song Yan. She projected them onto the wall and carefully analyzed them.
Qiu Tong narrowed her eyes and stared quietly at the two identical faces until she discovered the red mole!
She closed her eyes and recalled the injured man she had picked up by the roadside. It was Jin Yang!
Mixed emotions surged in Qiu Tong’s heart. She opened the drawer and looked at some financial records. She felt a headache coming along and jabbed her own forehead with her finger.
The next morning, there was a knock on the door.
Qiu Tong, who had not slept the entire night, struggled to open her eyes. She pushed open the door in her sleeping robe and saw a mailman standing outside. “Are you Madam Qiu?”
“This is a court summons. Please sign here to acknowledge receipt.”
The mailman held out a pen. His words were like a basin of cold water splashing all over Qiu Tong, waking her up completely.
She recalled Song Yan’s harsh words before he left yesterday and her heart gradually sank.
Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao came out of the room. They heard the mailman’s words. They looked at each other nervously and stood rooted to the ground in silence.
Qiu Tong opened the envelope and saw the notice written in black and white. She did not expect Song Yan to be so ruthless!
From the full-length mirror, she saw Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao’s worried expressions. She deliberately put on a relaxed and natural expression, before casually stashing away the documents in the shoe drawer. She then summoned the children to the dining room for breakfast.
Qiu Xingyuan was the first to walk to her side. He took the initiative to help her carry the dishes.
Little Yu ran out of the bedroom barefooted. She held a crumpled drawing paper behind her back and said in a soft voice, “Mommy! This is a gift Little Yu and my brothers prepared for you. Do you like it?”
Qiu Tong wiped her wet hands on her apron and bent over to take it.
The drawing was a two-story villa drawn with a colorful crayon. Qiu Tong could vaguely make out the figures of herself and the three children surrounding her.
Qiu Tong rubbed the top of Little Yu’s head and kissed her face tenderly. She felt a trace of calmness and stability return to her heart.
The four of them sat around the dining table. Qiu Xingyuan took the initiative to pick up two slices of vegetables and placed them in Qiu Tong’s bowl.
Qiu Tong looked at him in surprise. Qiu Xingyuan shifted his gaze awkwardly and cleared his throat before muttering, “Eat more food. You haven’t been looking good recently. If your body fails, how are you going to protect us?”
Qiu Tong could not help chuckling. It had been a long time since the villa had such a friendly and harmonious atmosphere. But even so, there was an undercurrent of graveness and uneasiness.
Ding dong—
The doorbell broke the silence. Ke Le opened the door and saw Jin Yang standing outside.
Qiu Tong frowned and wanted to chase him away, but Jin Yang cut her off. “He’s a lawyer. You can consult him if you have any questions.”
The man holding the briefcase nodded at Qiu Tong. Qiu Tong glanced at the summons peeking out of the drawer and had no choice but to step aside to let the two of them in.
In the living room, the lawyer gained an understanding of the situation. He shook his head with a grave expression.
“Miss Qiu, unfortunately, this lawsuit is very unfavorable for you.”
“As the children’s biological father, Mr. Song Yan has the right to fight for custody of the children.”
“Besides, you don’t have any fixed income source at the moment. You can’t provide stable living conditions for the children. Mr. Song Yan has an advantage over you in this aspect. Besides, his status…”
The lawyer smiled awkwardly. Qiu Tong nodded and said bitterly, “I understand.”
“I will try my best to help you fight this lawsuit, but the chances of winning are not high. I advise you to think of other ways.”
Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao were sitting on a high stool in the dining room, eavesdropping. When they saw Qiu Tong’s gloomy expression, they hurriedly ran to the lawyer and said in a clear voice, “The court has to consider our opinion. We will never follow him!”
“He didn’t fulfill his responsibility of raising us, but now he wants to take us away? On what basis?!”
Qiu Xingyuan pursed his thin lips, his eyes filled with hatred as he gritted his teeth.
Qiu Tong suppressed her heartache. She gently pressed Qiu Xingyuan’s shoulder and said in a low voice, “Qiu Xingyuan, don’t scare your sister.”
Qiu Xingyuan turned and saw Little Yu biting her lips tightly. She looked like she was about to cry. Helpless, he could only let his arms droop down in silence.
