I, The Dragon Overlord - Chapter 429
Chapter 429 – Detonating the Nuclear Bomb
Whether it was a satellite, Ghroth, or a Prince of Hell, the people of Earth could only be sure of one thing, and that was that the satellite carried supernatural powers on the level of myths.
When faced with supernatural forces that were completely incomprehensible to mankind, the only thing they could do was rely on the destructive power of technological weapons.
The people on Earth who knew this secret sincerely hoped that the most powerful weapon mankind had ever created would be successful and that this monster would be eliminated at its core.
……
On Jupiter LXVI, the ‘Avengers’ team was running as hard as they could. Compared to the experts and government officials who were arguing on Earth, the team on the frontline was the one facing the most dangerous situation.
“Everybody run! Our ship can still take off! Come on, hurry up, discard all useless load. Your life is more important and we don’t have much time left!”
The temporary captain shouted into this headset, but his words became broken as the signal became unstable.
‘FUCK!!! The environment on the asteroid has changed and the signal has become unstable.” 6444
The captain looked anxiously at the unstable signal. He did not know when the signal would suddenly fail. After another glance at the time, he issued one last order, “Attention all personnel, in seventeen minutes, which is also 8:00 PM London time, the craft will immediately take off and not wait for the rest of the personnel!”
“This is an order, an order given by all humans on Earth. After the ship takes off to a safe enough distance, immediately detonate the nuclear bomb. We absolutely cannot let such a monster fall on Earth!”
“I repeat, in seventeen minutes…”
Giving the final order, the captain glanced at the distance from where the spaceship was located.
He did not continue to run forward but sat down on his butt on the shaking ground. He was not exhausted, but a gaping hole had appeared on his spacesuit.
On the asteroid that had no atmosphere, a broken spacesuit was tantamount to exposing his body to the vacuum of the universe. It was absolutely impossible for him to survive as an ordinary human being.
That’s why he gave such an inhumane order because he was afraid that people would try to save him or wait for him and lose their chance to escape.
“Seventeen minutes should be enough….. From the place where we all fled, seventeen minutes should be enough to reach the ship. If a person does not arrive within that time frame, then they can only be left behind.”
The captain did not give the order at random. He did so after putting in as much thought and reflection as he could. Anyone who couldn’t be saved within 17 minutes probably couldn’t be saved at all.
“This damned Jupiter LXVI!”
The captain gritted his teeth and looked at the satellite that was deforming and rumbling as he slapped the ground under his feet with all his might.
Countless rocks had turned into tentacles that surged up in all directions. The ground cracked and spread all over the place. He knew that the current Jupiter LXVI had turned into an ugly form that was far different from its previous appearance.
Jupiter LXVI was not big and there were no mountains above, so the people running on the surface did not have to worry about falling rocks, but the abrupt tentacles that protruded from its surface could easily slap a fragile human body to pieces.
Gradually, the captain found his consciousness began to blur, and his body fluids were boiling. He knew that he was now almost out of air and was close to death.
He struggled to his knees and as a devout Christian, he put his will into a prayer before he died.
It was the most devout prayer of his life. With the fear of death and the longing of heaven, he thanked God as he prayed. In the moment before death, he became a true dedicated believer with all his heart and soul.
“Is this… heaven?”
In a trance, the temporary captain seemed to be seeing visions.
It was an endlessly beautiful land with clear lakes and verdant grasslands. The world of eternal night and eternal day seemed to converge all. Unknown birds flew in the skies, and the ground ran with beasts he had never seen before. At the center of all this was a tall pillar made of crystal, onyx, diamond, and other beautiful stones that seemed to be piled up beyond the skies like the legendary Tower of Babel.
At the top of this pillar, he saw a sacred and magnificent temple that was so miraculous and natural with angels singing, dancing, and playing music around it.
Finally, before losing his life completely, he saw the true God – the dream-like figure sitting on top of the throne of the great hall looking down on everything and smiling gently at the arrival of his believer.
……
Seventeen minutes had passed and in Noah’s Ark—
“Wait a little longer, just wait a little longer! There must be someone who can still run, let’s wait for a little more!”
Those who came to this mission were not all soldiers. Although these experts had a wealth of knowledge in their fields, it did not mean they had strong wills.
In this apocalyptic scene, some people cried, some people shouted, and some had their spirits collapse.
The ground outside the ship was still trembling, and the terrifying evil had completely awakened.
The pilot of Noah’s Ark, an astronaut who was also a highly trained soldier, but bit his lip to keep the tears from flowing as he watched and counted that at least a quarter of the squad had not made it back to the ship.
The pilot gritted his teeth and resolutely said, “The captain has instructed that if no one comes back after seventeen minutes, we have to take off!”
The people’s mouths could only gape without being able to say a word. Finally, no one said the words of continuing to wait.
They also knew in their hearts that the chances of more people arriving were low and that if they waited any longer, they could also die there.
“Everyone, sit in your chairs and fasten your seatbelts. We can not wait any longer. For the sake of all human beings on Earth, Noah’s Ark is ready to take off!”
The people hurriedly wiped the tears and moved their hands and feet to take a seat and fasten their seatbelts. Everyone was on tenterhooks. In their nervousness, some people drew the sign of the cross, and some people placed their hands together and prayed to their gods.
Just like airplanes, the most dangerous times for spaceships were also the moments of taking off and landing especially in environments that were not suitable to do so.
Perhaps their prayers were useful, or perhaps the gods were not prepared to take their lives, Noah’s Ark, a collection of the best technology mankind has to offer, successfully lifted off from Jupiter LXVI.
Noah’s Ark quickly moved forward completely far away from Jupiter LXVI, and then the crowd was able to see the current appearance of the asteroid.
The hideous, horrific, evil-looking twisted appearance was that of a fleshy tumor that seemed to contain all the filth, depravity, and madness of the world.
“Hisss— we were actually standing on such a disgusting monster. What a terrifying thought.”
Someone muttered. Everyone was relieved that they had survived after all.
“The ship has reached a safe distance. Detonate the nuke!”

As the pilot shouted, everyone came to their senses. The weapons expert whose eyes were red walked up to the device and shouted, “Go to hell, son of a bitch, go to hell!”
The weapons expert viciously slapped the button.
Under the impassioned roar of the people, the Big Ivan buried at the core of Jupiter LXVI finally detonated.
A beautiful and brilliant firework bloomed in the empty space, blowing up the satellite—
Or at least that’s what should have happened.
But things developed in a manner outside of everyone’s expectations. The raised arms of the ‘Avengers Alliance’ team members gradually dropped down, and the smiles on their faces gradually disappeared. Someone turned pale and fell to the ground, “How could this be?! How could this happen!!! Big Ivan was obviously detonated, but why is this…”
