I Might Be A Fake Cultivator - Chapter 937
Chapter 937: The Technique of Answering Questions
So if he kissed the guardian of the Sun Tree, was he going to get swallowed whole?
This was an extremely vital problem!
An Lin suddenly felt as if an immense pressure was piling up on him again.
Hei Tengge pointed to a statue and continued in his introduction, “This is the most ancient mythological beast of our tribe. It is known as the Undying Divine Sparrow, but it, unfortunately, perished to the Purple Star’s Dao Destruction Formation, sigh…”
An Lin forced an expression of loss and grief onto his face as he repressed the urge to ridicule the situation.
How the f*ck could it call itself the Undying Divine Sparrow if it died? Wasn’t this just an ironic insult…
Hei Tengge observed a moment of wistful silence before pointing to the last statue. “This is also a very powerful mythological beast of our tribe, and it inherited the bloodline of the vermilion bird before mutating to become the Mutant Blood Phoenix. Unfortunately, this senior also fell at an indeterminate location.”
An Lin looked at the last statue and drew a sharp intake of breath.
He was super familiar with this mythological beast!
Fate worked in strange ways sometimes.
An Lin felt a sense of intimacy as he looked at the Mutant Blood Phoenix, and he let loose a forlorn sigh.
Hei Tengge was very much appreciative of An Lin’s apparent grief, and he too sighed with emotion. “Sigh, even a powerful mythological beast runs the risk of being slain. I wonder who this senior was slain by and whether it received a proper burial…”
An Lin knew exactly what had happened to the Mutant Blood Phoenix, and he offered words of consolation. “Don’t worry, the Mutant Blood Phoenix was so powerful in its life that it will continue to live on.”
That’s right, he had inherited the power of the Mutant Blood Phoenix, and he was going to use it to go on to do great things!
As for a proper burial, there was even less need for Hei Tengge to worry about that. It had been cremated. As for its bones, they were chopped up and were stored in his storage ring, where it would undoubtedly serve a greater purpose someday…
“Brother An Lin, your words are simply inspiring! We will inherit its soul and power! Even though the Mutant Blood Phoenix has perished, it will continue to live on!” Hei Tengge spoke with a scorching light in his eyes.
An Lin’s lips twitched. He wondered if Hei Tengge would explode if he found out what An Lin had done with the Mutant Blood Phoenix’s remains…
“That’s all of the five mighty Mythological Beasts of the Sun Tree. You now have a chance to inherit the power they have left here. This is your right as an arena champion. Which one will you start at, Mr. Lin An?” Hei Tengge asked with a smile.
An Lin thought for a moment. He then decided to follow the sequence in which Hei Tengge had introduced them in.
The two of them arrived at the statue of the Eternal Sun God, where three vermilion birds were observing the residual power there, and all of them turned to look at An Lin with disdain.
“Hmph! A lowly being like this wants to receive the Eternal Sun God’s acknowledgment! What a joke!”
“Bastards with their lowly bloodlines trying to gain the approval of our Sun Tree Mythological Beast are simply hilarious! But there are so many of them risking their lives for this opportunity…”
“The last time someone gained the approval of a mythological beast was two years ago, right?”
“That’s right, hehe, and it was only a tiny sliver of inheritance.”
“I heard that Lin An is pretty impressive. Maybe he’ll do a bit better?”
“Heh, so what if he’s impressive? What’s he gonna do? Take away the entire inheritance left by the mythological beast?”
“Besides, inheritances aren’t dependent on power. They are much more heavily weighted toward factors like bloodlines. We’ve been observing this statue for so long and still barely received anything.”
All of these vermilion birds stood around and ran riot with their conversation, completely ignoring An Lin’s feelings.
An Lin wore a smile on his face, but he was fuming internally.
Were all the birds here so arrogant?
He really wanted to stomp these birds into the ground. There were twenty vermilion birds present, of which two were Return to Void Stage immortal beasts while the rest were all Soul Formation Stage soul beasts. He could destroy this bunch by himself.
Sigh… It was a pity that the Sun Tree was such an orderly place.
“Mr. Hei Tengge, what do I need to do?” An Lin asked.
“You need to release a drop of your blood essence onto the mythological beast statue, then answer a random question posed by the mythological beast. The rest will be decided by the mythological beast. If you’re extremely lucky and receive the approval of the mythological beast, then you might be able to receive some inheritances!” Hei Tengge explained.
He was using the word lucky to describe this process to An Lin, which proved that he felt An Lin had very slim chances of receiving the approvals of the mythological beasts.
One had to realize that he was a mighty soul beast at the Soul Formation Pinnacle Stage. He had a relatively pure bloodline of the vermilion bird, but even so, he was unable to receive any inheritance from here.
An Lin nodded upon hearing this, and he calmly walked toward a statue before releasing a drop of blood essence. The reddish-gold blood essence glowed under the light of the sun as bursts of powerful energy fluctuations erupted forth.
For some reason, all of the vermilion birds felt their hearts tremble at the sight of that drop of blood essence.
“What was that feeling?”
“I don’t know, but it looks like that human is not your average noob.”
“Hmph! He just has a little bit of power, that’s all! What’s the point of having a scary aura?”
“That’s right! So what if he’s more powerful than us? We have the vermilion bird bloodline, so we’re more regal than him!”
That’s right. These were the lies the Vermilion Bird Tribe fed themselves with on a daily basis.
Even if you’re powerful, I’m still more regal than you.
An Lin really wanted to eat some vermilion bird wings after hearing this logic.
The blood essence fell onto the statue of the Eternal Sun God and was quickly absorbed.
All of the vermilion birds’ expressions shifted drastically.
“It was absorbed!”
“The Eternal Sun God is not disdainful toward that human’s blood?”
“Unbelievable!”
Right when the spectating birds were discussing among themselves, the voice of the Eternal Sun God suddenly sounded from the statue.
“What came first, the bird or the egg?”
An Lin faltered upon hearing this.
All of the vermilion birds present were even more shocked.
“This is one of the most profound problems within our tribe!”
“It’s over. Even our most exemplary scholars are unable to answer this… How is this human going to answer it?”
An Lin thought to himself for a few seconds before deciding that this philosophical problem shouldn’t be answered directly. Instead…
A smile appeared on his face as he replied, “The mighty vermilion bird appeared before even the heavens had come into existence. Everything in this world was bestowed upon us by the revered vermilion bird, and the great vermilion bird is the origin of everything!”
Everyone instantly fell silent.
Hei Tengge’s mouth gaped open, and his expression was mirrored on the faces of all of the other vermilion birds.
This human… really knew how to f*cking sweet talk!
Boom!
The stone statue tremored violently.
“Affirmative!” a mighty, ethereal voice sounded.
Immediately afterward, two beams of dazzling golden light shot forth from the Eternal Sun God’s eyes before landing on An Lin’s glabella!
“It’s here! The light of inheritance!”
A vermilion bird screeched.
“My God! This brightness! How could it be so strong?” Another vermilion bird turned pale with fright.
One had to realize that inheritances were usually given in small wisps of light, never as a beam of light like this.
“That… That’s the core inheritance of the Eternal Sun God!” a Return to Void Stage immortal beast vermilion bird muttered.
Upon hearing this, everyone fell into stunned silence, and they all turned to stare blankly at the man with a golden light glowing at his glabella.
