I Might Be A Fake Cultivator - Chapter 386
Chapter 386: The Power of The Mooncakes
Just as An Lin was basking in the delight of eating the mooncake, a strange sensation appeared in his sea of vital energy.
An Lin turned his attention upon his sea of vital energy and was given quite a fright by the sight that greeted him.
As he surveyed his sea of vital energy, he could see the golden baby opening his mouth before swallowing all the power of the moon from the mooncake into his stomach.
“Burp…” The golden baby burped with satisfaction before lying back down onto the sea of vital energy with an expression of contentment.
An Lin’s eyes immediately lit up. Could it be that the baby could increase his body weight by consuming the power of the moon!?
He immediately brought out another mooncake, sliced it in half and placed one half into his mouth.
An intense sensation of happiness instantly swept through his body, causing him to collapse onto his own bed.
The delightful power of the moon spread through his entire body, and the portion of the power which flowed into his sea of vital energy once again imparted a golden hue.
The golden baby jumped up excitedly and began to swallow up all the incoming power of the moon.
Finally, after a short while, a rumble suddenly sounded in An Lin’s sea of vital energy and a crescent insignia appeared on the golden baby’s head. At the same time, a number suddenly appeared on his chest which quickly changed from 0.655 to 0.745. Following this, three Tai Chu characters also appeared beside the number: Moon is full.
The numbers and text soon began to vanish.
The golden baby’s stomach appeared to be extremely full as he lay down on the sea of vital energy and began to sleep.
There was still quite a bit of the power of the moon left in the sea of vital energy, but it appeared the golden baby had had his fill.
An Lin came to a sudden realization. If he wanted to raise the bodyweight of the golden baby to one kilogram, he had to make the number that appeared on his chest reach 1. As for how he was going to feed An Kirin, it looked like one of the ways through which he could do so was by eating food for himself and directing the energy into his sea of vital energy.
The crescent insignia on the golden baby’s head meant that he no longer required the power of the moon. Hence, it was time to think of some other sources of sustenance for the golden baby…
An Lin turned his gaze onto the remaining half of the mooncake to find that all four of his beast pets were staring at it with longing expressions. Da Bai was close to losing control as he sidled up closer and closer to the mooncake.
An Lin smiled and distributed the remaining half of the mooncake to his beast pets.
All the beast pets whooped with delight and chomped down on the remaining half of the mooncake with relish.
Thus, they ate two of the six mooncakes from Chang’e in one night.
An Lin was in quite a good mood. The mooncakes were all consumed by himself and his beast pets so none of it had gone to waste. Furthermore, he also managed to figure out a method to feed the golden baby, that was the biggest reward to him!
He stroked his storage ring as he looked out into the night sky. There were still four mooncakes remaining from the original six. He decided that such a good thing had to be shared with his friends.
The night grew darker, and a galaxy of stars appeared in the sky overhead.
However, the student living quarters were still brightly-lit.
No one really had the habit of sleeping too early. Many people were experimenting with spell techniques, or meditating, or engaging in expiration[1]. Of course, there were some who were cultivating through the night as well.
An Lin changed into a white robe which accentuated his handsome features nicely. His looks still couldn’t match up to Big Brother Cheng, but he had the disposition of a powerful Sword Immortal, which was at least much better than Big Brother Cheng’s obsession with weapons.
He looked into the mirror with satisfaction before turning to his beast pets. “Da Bai, do you think I have a better disposition or does Big Brother Cheng have a better disposition?”
He wasn’t a match for Big Brother Cheng in the looks department, so he had to compete through other aspects.
“Of course Big Brother An has the better disposition!” Da Bai replied without hesitation.
“That’s right, Master’s disposition is the best!” Xiao Hong chimed in with her sweet voice.
An Lin was overjoyed by their praise. “Why do you feel I have a better disposition?”
“Because you gave us mooncake today!” Da Bai replied without hesitation.
“That’s right! Your superior disposition will last until tomorrow!” Xiao Hong confirmed with a serious expression.
An Lin’s chest constricted, and he almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
Yue Tu roared with laughter at An Lin’s pained expression and almost dropped her carrot.
“Hmph! You should all get your eyes checked if you can’t even see my Sword Immortal disposition!” An Lin humphed in displeasure before walking out the door.
He came to a room next to his and lightly knocked on the door.
The door opened to reveal a lithe and graceful woman in a Daoist robe. She had the appearance of a beautiful Celestial Maiden under the moonlight.
The corners of her lips curled up in an exquisite smile as she saw An Lin outside her door. “Are you here for more tea, An Lin?”
An Lin chuckled a little sheepishly. Xu Xiaolan’s sect was located on a divine tree tens of thousands of meters tall and the leaves of the tree made an extremely delicious blend of tea. Hence, he would often come to Xu Xiaolan’s room to drink tea and chat.
“Well don’t just stand there, come on in.” Xu Xiaolan ushered him in with a smile.
An Lin immediately walked in and made himself comfortable. They had been neighbors for three years so it wasn’t exactly rare for him to visit Xu Xiaolan.
He walked into the room and was instantly overcome by a sense of relaxation as he caught a whiff of the faint, aromatic scent inside.
“What tea would you like to drink today? The Divine Sun Tea or the White Moon Tea?”
Xu Xiaolan turned to An Lin and asked.
“White Moon Tea.” An Lin felt like this tea suited tonight’s theme better.
“Alright.” Xu Xiaolan smiled daintily before retrieving some tea leaves from her storage ring. She then began to brew tea with a series of graceful, practiced movements in a display of refinement and elegance.
The two of them made some small talk before An Lin cut to the chase. “The reason I’ve come here tonight is that I have something to give you.”
“What is it? I don’t want it if it’s too valuable.”
Xu Xiaolan sipped her tea as her bright eyes shone with faint curiosity.
“It’s not that valuable, it’s just a piece of cake,” An Lin replied lightly.
“Oh? Could it be that it was made by you?” Xu Xiaolan’s interest was immediately piqued.
An Lin didn’t reply. Instead, he brought out a mooncake from his storage ring and placed it on the table.
The mooncake glowed exquisitely and the rich scent of flowers wafted throughout the room
Xu Xiaolan: “… Just a piece of cake, you say?”
An Lin knew he couldn’t hide the truth from Xu Xiaolan and confessed his situation. “It was actually given to me by Chang’e, but it really isn’t all that valuable. I still have a few more in my storage ring so you have to accept this one!”
Xu Xiaolan picked up the mooncake and took a whiff of it with her intricate nose.
She put down the mooncake and looked deep into An Lin’s eyes. “This mooncake is definitely no ordinary food item and to think that Chang’e voluntarily made not just one, but few of them for you… Tell me the truth, what’s your relationship with Chang’e?”
An Lin: “…”
“We’re acquaintances that can’t really even qualify as friends. To be honest, these mooncakes weren’t given to me free of charge. In return, I have to make sure Yue Tu’s body weight drops to below twenty-five kilograms in a month!” An Lin confessed.
He wasn’t irked by Xu Xiaolan’s interrogation, but instead a little bit ecstatic that she cared so much.
Xu Xiaolan blinked in confusion. “How is that difficult? Just feed Yue Tu some weight loss pills!”
Boom!
An Lin felt like a clap of thunder had exploded in his head, making him come to an instant realization.
Yue Tu found it exceedingly difficult to lose weight through a normal weight-loss plan, but he could use weight-loss pills to achieve the goal Chang’e had set!
Normal weight-loss pills would probably be ineffective, but there were some extremely potent high-rank pills which should be able to melt away some extra fat, even if that extra fat was in the body of a mythological beast. He should go and ask Yi Xi for advice on the matter tomorrow.
Genius!
An Lin chatted with Xu Xiaolan for a while longer and discovered there were some pills which had miraculous weight-loss effects that he could try. This only strengthened his determination to find Yi Xi the next day.
Xu Xiaolan stowed away the mooncake An Lin had given her. He could tell that she was very fond of his present. After all, even in the Heavenly Court, Chang’e’s mooncakes were exceedingly rare.
After leaving Xu Xiaolan’s room, An Lin set off in high spirits toward Big Brother Cheng’s living quarters.
