I Might Be A Fake Cultivator - Chapter 1057
Chapter 1057: Rules Are Made to Be Broken
An Lin didn’t look at the infuriated Xi Haizi.
He ushered Lan Xiaoni toward him, and they turned to walk back in the direction from which they had come.
After hurling some abuse at Xi Haizi and making it apologize, he had actually already fulfilled his objective.
Xi Haizi had almost killed him, but he wasn’t crazy enough to relentlessly attack Xi Haizi for that.
Xi Haizi seemed reluctant to attack An Lin due to some unknown reason, but from the barrier the statue had unleashed, An Lin could tell that the statue actually possessed a lot of residual power.
There was no need for An Lin to battle a statue to the death over something like this.
The two of them continued on their way back and finally reached the crossroads they had come to before.
There were two doors and one key.
An Lin had used the key to open the Tomb Treasure Vault door, thereby foregoing the opportunity to open the Tribal Secret door, leaving those secrets to be buried forever at the bottom of the ocean.
Lan Xiaoni turned to look at the other door with a sense of loss before wagging her tail from side to side and making her way back through the main corridor.
“Hold on,” An Lin suddenly said.
Lan Xiaoni’s tail faltered, and she turned with a confused expression. “What is it, Big Boss An Lin?”
An Lin pointed to the other door with a smile. “Underling Lan, there are secrets that will decide the fate of your tribe there. Don’t you want to go inside?”
Lan Xiaoni didn’t think that An Lin would mention this, and she faltered slightly before subconsciously nodding her head. “Of course I do. But we’ve already chosen the Tomb Treasure Vault door and no longer have a key. How are we supposed to get in?”
“Who told you we need to have a key to access that door? The tomb owner told us to choose one, so we have to listen to them?” An Lin pulled out his Evil-Slaying Sword as his aura soared explosively. “With enough power, any rules can be broken!”
Lan Xiaoni’s pupils contracted in shock. “Could it be that you’re…”
“That’s right! Only little kids do multiple-choice questions…
“The treasures and the secrets… I want them both!”
An Lin let loose a clear cry as a terrifying black sword projection crashed into the door.
Fearsome sword intent exploded forth, and the entire corridor began to tremor and fracture.
A hint of indescribable excitement welled up in her heart upon hearing An Lin’s domineering statement.
She stared intently at the tightly shut door to find that there was a faint blue barrier that had blocked An Lin’s sword strike, and the door itself was completely unscathed.
“It’s impossible, Big Boss An Lin. This is a protective spell technique left behind by the High Priest and the High Priestess. How could we possibly break through it…” A hint of disappointment appeared on Lan Xiaoni’s face.
“As your big boss, I’ll teach you another lesson.” An Lin gripped his sword, and his aura surged to the Return to Void Stage aura again as a black cape extended behind him, spreading boundless darkness to engulf their surroundings. “Never say anything is impossible unless you’ve tried your absolute best!”
The Evil-Slaying Sword descended upon the door again.
In that instant, heaven and earth fell into darkness.
The most powerful Endless Night sword strike erupted forth.
A terrifying black sword projection imbued with peerless sword intent instantly engulfed the space in its wake before crashing into the blue barrier with the power to annihilate all things!
This was a silent sword strike, but it was followed by a crisp cracking sound.
Crack…
Boom!
The barrier was shattered, and the door behind it also exploded!
Never would the High Priest and the High Priestess have predicted that such a freakish Soul Formation Stage cultivator would come here after all these years and shatter the rules of the tomb with brute force!
Lan Xiaoni fell into a daze as she stared at the door that had been blown open by An Lin.
It was supposed to be a door that could only be opened with a key. They were only supposed to be able to choose one of the two paths… These were unshakeable concepts that had taken root deep in her mind. But now, An Lin had uprooted those concepts in the most brutal way possible!
That’s right… The tomb had told them that they could only choose one of the two paths, so they had to obey?
An Lin gave her a different answer. If you had enough strength, you could walk both of those paths!
An Lin had never liked to follow the rules. He was always thinking outside of the box. As such, this course of action occurred quite naturally to him.
Just as Lan Xiaoni was staring at An Lin with admiration and reverence, a huge boom followed by a thunderous roar erupted from the Tomb Treasure Vault corridor.
“What are you waiting for? Run!” An Lin latched onto her hand and led her in a sprint down the Tribal Secret corridor.
Lan Xiaoni came to her senses and was a little fearful when she heard the commotion erupting from the other corridor. “Is Senior Xi Haizi chasing after us?”
An Lin chuckled dismissively. “Xi Haizi is too big to fit into such a narrow corridor. However, we do have to be careful of the other retaliation methods that he might use. It’s better if we make haste!”
Lan Xiaoni nodded, and a peculiar sense of excitement from doing something taboo and breaking the rules welled up in her heart, causing a flush to appear on her cheeks and her breathing to accelerate.
The two of them ran quickly down the corridor, but the commotion behind them did not subside.
“He’s here!” Lan Xiaoni let loose a cry of surprise.
An Lin’s expression darkened slightly. He could sense Xi Haizi’s aura quickly approaching them.
It was quite clear that he had completely enraged Xi Haizi with his actions.
This was something that didn’t make sense to An Lin. They had left all of these things for their successor, but for some reason, they were angry when their successors tried to take both the treasures and the tribal secrets.
“Who would have thought that such a huge statue could shrink to this size. That must be a fake statue!” An Lin spoke with a hint of fury in his voice.
“Is this really the time to be talking about this, Big Boss An Lin? Furthermore, it’s quite understandable that the power left behind by a Dao Integration Stage mighty figure has some special properties.” Lan Xiaoni couldn’t help but interject, “Shouldn’t we be thinking about how we’re going to deal with the approaching Xi Haizi?”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got this!” A confident expression appeared on An Lin’s face. “Come on out! Gundam Three, Yao Ji, hold off that idiot for me!”
Gundam Three and Yao Ji immediately heeded his instructions and flew toward Xi Haizi.
A thunderous battle instantly erupted behind them.
Meanwhile, An Lin and Lan Xiaoni dove directly into the secret chamber.
This was an extremely cavernous chamber, which was a lot like the treasure vault.
A massive statue stood at the center of the chamber.
This was a huge turtle over a kilometer wide. From its eyes and its soft facial features, one could tell that this was most likely a female turtle.
“Even though I already knew that High Priestess Tian Chenji was a turtle, I still find it difficult to accept the fact that this was the love interest Xi Haizi pursued for several hundred years! Don’t the Spirit Fish Clan have similar beauty standards to the human race?” An Lin was astonished.
Xi Haizi pursuing Tian Chenji for several hundred years was like a human mighty figure pursuing a turtle for several centuries. It was simply inconceivable!
“That’s why Senior Xi Haizi and Senior Tian Chenji’s relationship was a true interspecies love story!” Lan Xiaoni looked at An Lin before looking up at Tian Chenji as she spoke with a serious expression.
Right at this moment, the huge turtle statue turned to face An Lin. “Foolish human, I’m very pissed off by the fact that you’re commenting on my relationship with Xi Haizi in my presence!”
An Lin: “…”
