I Dislike the Male Lead’s Child - Chapter 71
Chapter 71
“…Then I’ll pick you up afterwards.” -Asellus.
“As you wish.” -Avrill.
It was just a simple tea party, but Asellus was not relieved on the other hand.
I stretched out my arms towards him, who was tense.
“If you’re really worried, why don’t you put on that magic bracelet that you gave last time?”
The magic bracelet of Asellus had excellent protection.
I knew it well because of Islet’s prank.
It could respond immediately to any danger, be it poison or an attempt to murder.
As Asellus had to take off the bracelet when he returned from work, it wouldn’t be too much of a strain on the body.
Asellus looked at my wrist for a while, then exhaled slowly.
I felt like Asellus was torn between my health and protection.
As if he had finally come to a conclusion, he grabbed my wrist and gently stroked it.
I thought Asellus would put the bracelet on, but he put my hand down.
A sigh escaped his mouth.
“Tomorrow morning, I’ll only let you in when we arrive at the royal castle.”
I just nodded because I was speechless.
The stillness subsided. Asellus got up from his seat with a bitter expression, whether he had accepted my silence as a confirmation.
“Good night, Brill.”
He went back to his room without hearing my answer.
I stood up after looking at his seat for a long time.
I opened the window out of frustration. A cool breeze blew in from outside.
The cool breeze was filled with the scent of flowers. It was something I couldn’t feel in Austell.
I rested my chin on my hand, glancing at the ivy vine surrounding the tower.
‘Asellus is a good boy.’
No matter how hard I tried to deny it, he was a good person.
The problem is, though, that I don’t suit him.
Nevertheless, my heart kept weakening to the extent of thinking in vain that there might be a way to stay by his side.
‘It’s pathetic.’
Am I even mistaken for the real Avril just because I’ve been by his side for a long time?
I sighed and spat out the words as if vowing.
“I’m going to leave.”
Austell’s curse was a problem, but now even the tower is a mess.
Let alone a happy ending. The kingdom might lose the war at this rate.
But no matter how much I promised myself, I was not happy.
As if I said something I didn’t want to say.
‘Well, nine years is a long time.’
After discarding all emotions, I close the window and turn around.
I was about to put off the candlelight room and get onto the bed.
The sound of something breaking rang in my ears.
“What is it?”
But after that, the silence that followed was so tranquil that I immediately forgot the noise and went to bed.
************
Asellus quietly wiped the blood flowing from his mouth.
He almost woke Avril up from the sound without realizing it.
Inhaling and exhaling deeply, the rib cage rose and fell.
However, no matter how often Asellus took a deep breath, his heart did not calm down.
He had pressed down on the words he wanted to say.
Finally, the words that could not be suppressed came out.
“…Avril.”
She used to be annoying and bratty when he was young, but Asellus couldn’t even imagine a day without her from a certain moment.
The problem is that he is now completely different from when he was younger.
There were neither his parents who raised him nor Islet who could control his power to stop it from running wild.
Asellus had to endure it when he was alone, like a tightrope walking.
The thing he was most wary of was himself.
Asellus is afraid if he loses his temper at some point and does something he shouldn’t do to Avril.
He was desperate to hide the monster inside him with a sultry smile.
He couldn’t reveal to Avril that his ugly nature was hiding.
“How about this?”
Asellus bit his lip for a moment.
He tried to do everything Avril wanted.
But Avril is only thinking about leaving.
“..You shouldn’t try to leave me.”
Asellus doesn’t know why he keeps wanting to hold onto Avril more and more.
Asellus was deep in thought.
Contrary to his neat posture, his hand was knocked on the window, which could not hide his impatience.
When the tap on the window stopped, a smile as if a beautiful painting fell on Asellus’s lips
Avril couldn’t leave him easily anyway.
The two were married, so if there were even a single objection, the divorce would not happen.
So Avril will find another way, like using the princess.
‘You got caught up in a scandal, and now you’re going to meet her personally?’
That was nonsense.
The Aristocat society has been quiet because of monsters, but Avril’s method was precise, which he has seen since childhood.
“If I had thought it was my rival, I would have twisted their neck right away.”
The illegitimacy of the princess would have caused the scandalous rumours without even attending the party, even though she is from the royal family.
But why is everything going in the princess’s favour? Obviously, there was another reason.
It’s probably to give power to the scandal that the king has made up.
Asellus was buried in his thought.
“Why did you want to leave me, Avril?”
Is it because of magic resistance, or is there some other reason?
He couldn’t guess.
‘There’s no way I’m letting you go.’
Avril seemed to naively believe that another woman could get his attention.
