I Can't Escape The Baby's Father After Returning Novel - Chapter 77
Chapter 77: Mandy Was Shot
This room was too small, so small that all every movement would be seen clearly.
Mike was facing Jenny. He couldn’t move at all, and Mandy was having a mental breakdown. She couldn’t do anything.
Melanda, who was blocked by Mike, felt that she had to find a way to get everyone out of trouble. She secretly took out her phone and sent a message to the detective while Jenny’s attention was on Mike.
“Please come and save us! Jenny and his brother are blocking us. They have guns!!”
Melanda pressed the “send” button with trembling hands.
She heard Jenny complaining. “It’s all because of you two. I heard you guys ask him to break up with me with my own ears. Because of you, I was scolded by everyone and cyberbullied. Because of you, I was sent to a mental hospital and my parents died! You guys caused me so much trouble, but now, you two are actually living a happy life. This is unfair!”
“Wake up! You were the one who messed around and got caught by everyone. That’s why you were criticized. Don’t blame others for your mistake! What right do you have to hurt Melanda and Dave? You’ll get your retribution!” Mandy cried and shouted.
At this moment, Jeffrey’s vicious voice came from outside the door. “Sister, don’t say so much to them. As long as you say it, I’ll let the bullet pierce his head immediately! ”
Jenny shouted, “No! I’ve waited too long for this scene. I want him to have a taste of losing the person he loves!”
Jenny turned the gun and tried to point it at Melanda. Mike shielded Melanda tightly behind him. Melanda kept trembling.
Jenny sneered. “Is that how you love him? You’re letting him take a bullet for you?”
Melanda thought to herself, “Come quickly! Come quickly to save us!”
Just then, a gunshot sounded outside the door. Someone fell dovvn. It was Jeffrey! The police were here!
“Run!” Jeffrey shouted at Jenny before he fell.
Jenny’s face was filled with shock. Then, she subconsciously pulled the trigger in her hand. The gun fired. Melanda wanted to scream, but excessive fear made her lose her voice.
Mike. Her Mike. 1–1er life. Her love. Was she going to lose him?!
She tightly hugged Mike, who was about to fall, but she saw someone in Mike’s arms. She had been shot in the chest, and bright red blood gushed out.
It was Mandy! Mandy had been shot!
The police rushed forward and held Jenny down. There was a commotion at the door.
But all of this seemed to have nothing to do with Melanda. She only saw the blood on Mandy’s chest. The world seemed to have stopped, and she didn’t feel anything.
“Baby, baby, what’s wrong? Mandy, Mandy is talking to you!”
Mike shook Melanda.
She saw Mandy in Mike’s arms, her face as pale as paper. She was reaching out to her, and she held her hand in a daze.
“I’m… I’m sorry, Melanda. I can’t be with you until we grow old. Don’t be sad over me. I don’t know how to live without Dave. Now, I’m going to find him. The child and I are going to be reunited with him. You have to be happy.”
After saying that, Mandy let go of Melanda’s hand and closed her eyes.
She heard Mike shouting, “Doctor! Ambulance!” and Mandy’s parents wailing.
But Melanda didn’t seem to hear anything and fainted.
Later, she realized that Jenny’s shot was aimed at Mike, but Mandy suddenly rushed out and stood in front of Mike.
Melanda stayed in the hospital for a week before being discharged.
There was nothing wrong with her. She was just too tired. As a pregnant woman, she had experienced too many shocking ordeals. In the hospital, Mike, Melanda’s mom, and Mike’s parents took turns to accompany her. None of them mentioned Mandy again, and Melanda didn’t ask.
But there was no smile on everyone’s faces, and as long as Melanda closed her eyes, she could see Mandy: Mandy when she was young, Mandy when she was in high school, Mandy after they reunited, Mandy in her wedding dress, and Mandy after she was shot.
Such a vibrant and lively person was suddenly gone.
On the day she was discharged, the doctor specially reminded her, “Pregnant women must maintain a good mood. You can’t be depressed.”
Millie, who had never been allowed to come to the hospital, came on the day she was discharged. She hugged her mother’s arm tightly. “Mom, are you feeling better? Is my brother okay?”
Melanda was curious. “How do you know it’s a brother?”
Millie tilted her head. “I just know. I dreamed that my brother came to talk to me!”
There was laughter in the ward.
Mike placed his hand on Melanda’s stomach. “It’s fine whether it’s a brother or sister, as long as you guys are safe.”
Yes, as long as they were safe..
