I Can't Escape The Baby's Father After Returning Novel - Chapter 66
Chapter 66: Dave’s Secret
On the drive back, Mandy kept thinking about it. Her head hurt.
She had met Dave two years ago at a friend’s party. In the beginning, Mandy hadn’t noticed him. Although he was in good shape, he was really average-looking and wore a pair of glasses.
But Dave quickly pursued her passionately. He didn’t stalk her. If that was the case, he might have scared Mandy away quickly. He always showed her concern and care at just the right time every day; he sent flowers at a suitable frequency, just like automated flower delivery. The next bouquet came when the previous one needed to be replaced.
This solicitousness was not repulsive. It was like water. It seemed ordinary, but it was indispensable.
Just like that, he slowly won Mandy’s heart and became Mandy’s family.
After knowing Dave, it was hard not to like him.
Dave was an orphan and had grown up in an orphanage. Although life was hard, there was nothing gloomy about him. He was very gentle and never aggressive with anyone. He was always mild-mannered and gentle.
For the impatient Mandy, this sort of personality was especially rare. After being with Dave, Mandy’s personality became much better, because she knew that someone would tolerate her and show her patience.
So Mandy’s parents admired and pitied Dave. They already treated him as their son and family.
Mandy didn’t dare to continue thinking. She couldn’t bear that sort of outcome.
Dave was home shortly after Mandy.
They went back to their room, and Dave immediately said to Mandy, “Baby, you have to believe me. My relationship with her is purely work-related.”
Mandy stared straight at him. “But you know she’s the woman who approached Mike in the bar, don ‘t you?”
“Yes, I know, but I didn’t know it was her until I took this FB case.”
“Then what did you do after you saw her?”
“I didn’t do anything. It was just a normal work docking.”
“Shouldn’t you avoid her? Tell FB to get another person to dock.”
“Baby, this is work. Is this necessary? We can’t choose our clients. We always meet all kinds of people.”
“But she’s not an ordinary client. We all know what she did to Mike and Melanda.” “Really? The police are still investigating this, aren’t they? There’s no conclusion yet.”
Melanda was unhappy. “What do you mean? Do you not believe Mike?”
Dave threw up his hands. “I do believe in him. I was just stating the facts.”
“And why did you go to the coffee shop to talk about work? Why was she standing so close to you? Doesn’t she know you’re getting married?” Melanda’s tone was getting more urgent.
“Mandy, Dave, time to eat!” Mandy’s mother’s voice suddenly came from outside.
The conversation came to a stop. Before leaving the room, Dave took Mandy’s hand and tried to hug her, but Mandy shook him off and walked out first.
Dave shook his head and followed her out helplessly.
Mandy’s mother asked Mandy, “Baby, are you guys okay? What happened?”
Mandy smiled. “Mom, we’re fine. We were discussing the seating arrangements for the wedding. ”
She glanced at Dave, who nodded. “I think she can decide for herself, but she insisted on discussing it with me. I’m sorry, Mom. We were a little loud and made you worry.”
The two of them lied tacitly.
The family ate happily as usual.
However, Mandy still had questions inside. She knew that men and women dealt with problems differently, but since Dave knew who Selina was, Dave should avoid her, shouldn’t he? It wasn’t just because of Melanda. That woman was a dangerous person to any wife, right? A sly woman like her made people uncomfortable.
As a woman, Mandy intuitively felt that things weren’t as simple as Dave had said..
