I Can't Escape The Baby's Father After Returning Novel - Chapter 48
Chapter 48: Proposal (1)
Mike looked at the panicked Melanda and felt his heart ache.
“Baby, let’s go back to sleep. You need to rest.”
Melanda nodded and they went back to the room. Annie went back too. Melanda laid her head on Mike’s arm and hugged him tightly. She only felt safe in Mike’s arms.
After a while, she fell asleep.
The next day, when Melanda woke up, the sun was already high in the sky. Nothing seemed to have happened. What greeted her was Millie’s innocent smile. She seemed to have been waiting for her mother to wake up. When she saw her mother open her eyes, she immediately shouted happily,
“Mom, you’re finally awake! I was afraid you would continue sleeping, but Dad didn’t let me disturb you.”
“Good morning, my sweetheart.” Melanda pulled Millie over and kissed her.
“Mom, get up quickly. I finished breakfast. I’ll tell Dad you’re awake!” Millie ran out.

“Mom, get up quickly. I finished breakfast. I’ll tell Dad you’re awake!” Millie ran out.
The child really brought her immense joy. All her worries seemed to have been dispelled. Only the lingering fatigue and headache reminded Melanda of everything that had happened last night. The more blissful life was and the more beautiful love was, the more she was afraid. She was afraid that all of this goodness would be broken like a soap bubble.
In the past few years, she had been taking care of the child attentively. Nothing major happened at work. Who was it that wanted to harm her? In the beginning, she thought that person might have just called to scare her, but after the car accident, she realized that he wanted her dead. She had just been discharged, but he was here again! He wouldn’t let her go!
Mike came in with a breakfast tray and coffee. “Good morning, baby. You can enjoy the princess treatment today and have breakfast in bed,” he said mischievously with a wink.
Melanda laughed. She didn’t want to think about those unhappy things anymore, and she didn’t want to say them out loud to affect Mike’s mood.
“Thank you, Mike. Let’s eat together.”
“Your Highness, we’ve already eaten. Please enjoy breakfast.”
“Honey, you’ll spoil me like this,” Melanda said with a smile.
“Baby, you’d better get used to it quickly, because I plan to provide this service every day starting from today. You’d better think of how to pay the tip.” Mike’s eyes were shining with mischief.
Melanda beckoned and Mike lowered his head. Melanda kissed Mike on the face.
Mike laughed. “I’m happy with this tip.”
“Mom, I helped Dad prepare breakfast too. I’ve been waiting here until you woke up so that I could report to Dad.” Millie pouted unhappily when she saw her mother only kiss her father. Melanda smiled and kissed Millie’s little face. “Okay, baby. Thank you. You contributed too.”
Millie giggled happily.
After breakfast, Mike went to work. He had also been taking leave for the past three weeks since Melanda was in an accident. Now, he had to go to the office. The work was probably piling up.
“Baby, remember your date tonight. Be ready before eight. I’ll pick you up then,” Mike told Melanda before he left.
This date… was the date that was supposed to happen the day Melanda got into an accident. She didn’t expect so many things to happen in between. Now that she thought about it, it was so surreal.
Melanda was looking forward to it. She had been getting ready since the afternoon. She took a shower first, then started rummaging through her clothes. After everything that had happened, she cherished every date and every moment between them. She would open up to Mike completely tonight.
Annie promised to help Melanda take care of Millie. “Go enjoy your date, baby. Don’t worry about Millie.”
In the afternoon, Mandy took the time out of her busy schedule to come over. When she heard about the evening date, she helped Melanda choose her clothes and curled her hair with a
curling iron. Then Mandy looked at Melanda, who was looking in the mirror, and said,
“Honey, I’m really happy for you.” Her eyes watered again at the thought of the pain Melanda had suffered.
Melanda comforted her instead. “When did you become so sentimental? You’re the one who’s going to be a bride. Be happy. Everything’s in the past. Can’t you see that I’m fine?”
Mandy hugged Melanda. “You have to be safe and sound, forever. I can’t live without you either.” When she heard these emotional words, Melanda’s nose tingled.
When Mike appeared at 8 p.m. sharp, what appeared in front of him was the gorgeous Melanda. The well-tailored tight dress accentuated Melanda’s beautiful figure. Any man would lust after her. Her long curly hair was draped over her shoulders, making her look laid-back and sexy. Her gorgeous eyes were looking at him with mirth.
“Baby, you’re so beautiful. You’re as dazzling as a gem. If it were possible, I would hide you in the house and not let any other man see you. You’re too much of a femme fatale. “.
