“Of course, Mom. When you said that my father was a prince and that he lived in a distant castle, I begged God to bring him back every night. That way, you wouldn’t be sad anymore and you wouldn’t cry anymore. He’s my father, right?” Millie asked innocently. The adults were all stunned by her question. For a five-year-old, she was indeed very smart. She wasn’t as considerate as the adults, so it was easier for her to see the essence of the matter.

“Oh, baby, how did you know? We never told you,” Melanda asked with tears in her eyes.

“Because you were always happy to see Dad. You would always smile when you saw him. And I look like Dad,” she replied. Melanda and Mike blushed.

Mike picked up Millie and kept kissing her little face. Then, he couldn’t help but cry.

Melanda leaned against Mike and wiped her tearful eyes. Fortunately, all the nightmares were over. Everyone in the room had tears in their eyes. Everyone was touched by this hard-won reunion. The two mothers, Annie and Mary, were the ones who cried the loudest in particular.

“Thank God you guys are finally together. Everything will be okay,” Mary sobbed.

“Miss Melanda, you still need to be observed in the hospital for a few days. If there’s no problem, you can be discharged in a few days. Welcome back to this world,” the doctor said and left the ward.

“Melanda, honey, I’m glad you’re awake. If you hadn’t woken up soon, Dave would have cursed you forever,” Mandy told Melanda with a smile just as the doctor left.

We postponed the wedding date indefinitely, and that depended on when you woke up.” Melanda’s eyes widened in surprise. Everyone else smiled and nodded at her to tell her that it was true.

“You crazy woman! What if I didn’t wake up?! Were you going to make Dave wait forever?” she scolded Mandy and looked at Dave apologetically.

Dave shrugged helplessly. “If that was the case, I could only wait. I wouldn’t let her go.”

Everyone laughed. The two of them were really a match made in heaven. Only Dave could accept Mandy’s fiery temper and endure it.

“Oh, you’re showing off again. I’m really sorry for delaying your wedding,” Melanda said to Dave sincerely.

Mandy shouted, “Idiot, why are you apologizing? You’re lying in the hospital bed, so how can I put on the wedding dress happily? Besides, how can I get married without you?”

Mike’s father, Steve, said to everyone, “Okay, let’s go out first and let Melanda rest. She just woke up and is very weak. However, Melanda, you have to promise us to wake up this time.”

Everyone laughed.

Before leaving, Mandy hugged Melanda tightly. “Darling, it’s great that you woke up. I have to hurry and arrange the wedding date. I have to reschedule and arrange everything else.”

Annie said to her daughter, “Melanda, Millie is asleep. I want to go home during this time and change my clothes while I bring your dirty clothes home.”

Melanda hugged her mother. “Mom, don’t worry. You can rest at home before coming back.

Mike is here. He’ll take good care of Millie and me. It’s been hard on you, Mom.”

Annie kissed her daughter’s forehead. “Baby, as long as you can wake up, as long as you and Millie are okay, I can do anything,” she said with tears in her eyes.
