Melanda stayed in a coma for an entire week.

Everyone took turns arranging shifts and taking care of the two patients. Millie’s condition was getting better and better. The doctor had also changed Melanda to a normal ward. For convenience’s sake, Melanda and Millie’s wards were next to each other. Melanda was no longer in danger, but he didn’t know when she would wake up. The doctor said that it might be tomorrow or very long from now. Before leaving, the doctor smiled and said,

“Fortunately, we have a prince charming here. It’s up to you, prince charming.”

Mike felt a little relieved to see that the doctor was still in the mood to joke. As soon as the doctor removed the tubes from Millie, she clamored to see her mother. Mike had to carry her to the next room.

When they entered the intensive care unit, Mike saw that most of the bandages on Melanda were gone, and her bruises were improving. Mike took Millie in his arms and placed her beside her mother’s bed. Millie touched her mother’s face and placed her head on her mother’s chest.

“Mom, wake up. I want to go home now. Mom, don’t sleep. Wake up,” she whispered to her mother and Mike rubbed her little head.

“Melanda, Millie is here to see you. Baby, we all need you.” Mike kissed Melanda’s forehead and cheeks. He saw tears fall from her eyes. She must have heard him!

“Baby, I miss you so much, Please don’t pretend to sleep.

“Mommy, please wake up. Daddy is always crying because you’re always sleeping. Grandma is very sad. Let’s go home, Mommy. ” Millie touched her face and tried to wake her.

Because Millie hadn’t fully recovered, she couldn’t be too agitated. After a while, the nurse urged them to leave.

“Baby, let’s go. Let Mommy sleep for a while.” Millie took her mother’s hand and was unwilling to let go, but she nodded obediently.

“Mom, we’ll come to see you again. We’ll wait for you to wake up. I’ll sleep in the room next door with Dad,” she whispered to her. Mike picked her up from the bed and sent her back to her room.

Mike had just settled Millie when the police arrived.

“Sir, have you found the bastard who tampered with the car brakes?” Mike asked him through gritted teeth.

“We checked the woman named Hannah, but she has a reliable alibi. She participated in a fashion show in Paris when the incident occurred. We checked the airline and hotel where she was staying and found no problems,” the police said.

“We also checked the surveillance around the scene of the accident and found a suspect, but that guy was probably bribed to do this. He does anything for money.” Mike didn’t want to hear this. He wanted to know who made this person do this. The real culprit was still out there and the danger wasn’t resolved. This was scary.

“Please find this guy as soon as possible! My family will be in danger forever every moment he is on the run. I want them to pay the price!” Mike was very emotional. His father patted his shoulder and tried to calm him down.

“Mike, calm down. The police need time to find out the truth.’

That night, Mike stayed in Melanda’s ward. It had been more than a week since the accident. He hadn’t been able to sleep well, and now, he was facing a nervous breakdown.

He held Melanda’s hand and said almost pleadingly,

“Darling, please wake up quickly! Don’t keep sleeping by yourself. I want to have a good sleep too. I’m so tired, but I’m afraid I’ll miss the moment you open your eyes, so I don’t dare to sleep.”

“I could have taken care of you when you were pregnant. I wanted to watch your stomach slowly grow. I wanted to watch Millie be born, learn to smile, learn to turn over, climb, sit, take the first step. I wanted to hear her say her first word, to call me ” Daddy” for the first time. You took away this right and happiness from me,” Mike cried as he spoke.

“But I’m willing to forget all of this and forgive you, as long as you’re willing to open your eyes, baby. I promise I’ll take care of you, Millie, and our future children forever. Please come back to me.”

Mike missed Melanda’s voice so much. In his daze, he thought he heard Melanda’s voice and felt a hand touching his head. Mike cried harder.

“Melanda, wake up, my love. I need you. I can’t hold on anymore.”

“Baby, you’re hurting me.”

Mike heard a soft and hoarse voice. He looked up suddenly, and then he saw those beautiful eyes he had missed looking at him with mirth.
