I Can't Escape The Baby's Father After Returning Novel - Chapter 28
Chapter 28: Spend The Weekend Together (1)
The weekend arrived quickly. Mandy asked Melanda and Millie to go hiking together. When she got there, she found out that Mandy even asked Mike to come along. Millie was so happy that she threw herself into Mike’s arms and giggled.
The weather was good. The sun was shining, and all the flowers on the mountain seemed to have bloomed overnight. On the way, Millie took Mike’s hand excitedly. She didn’t feel tired at all, and she wouldn’t let any adults hug her.
Melanda and Mandy walked behind them and talked as they walked. The good weather put everyone in a good mood.
“Why did you ask Mike to come along?” Melanda couldn’t help but ask.
“Why not? We always used to hang out together,” Mandy said very matter-of-factly. Melanda couldn’t retort.
“But he has a girlfriend now.”
“Can’t you hang out with your friends if you have a girlfriend? Besides, they already broke up,” Mandy said word for word.
Melanda was very shocked. “When was that? She even went to my house to find him a few days ago. Oh, right, it was the day I went on a date with Leo.”
“Yes, they probably broke up that day,” Mandy replied.
“What’s the reason for the breakup? It’s not because of Mike spending the night at my house, is it?” Melanda suddenly felt guilty.
“Heh, it has nothing to do with you. Don’t you think they weren’t compatible? I think they should have broken up a long time ago.”
“Even so, I don’t want to disturb his life,” Melanda said while looking down. Although the news of Mike’s breakup was a little unexpected, Melanda felt a little relieved for some reason.
“What are you guys talking about?” Mike and Millie stopped in front of them and waited for them.
“Nothing,” Mandy and Melanda said together. Mike looked at them in amusement.
Millie was especially excited and kept walking in front of them. Although her legs were the shortest, her walking speed was the fastest. As she climbed, she turned around and shouted, “I’m first! Mom, Aunt Mandy, you guys are too slow. Hurry up!”
Everyone laughed loudly. Their terrible mood had been alleviated by the beautiful weather and the adorable child.
This mountain wasn’t high. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful scenery along the way while chatting and laughing. Soon, they arrived at the top of the mountain. It was the season cherry blossoms bloomed. The small cherry blossoms looked extremely delicate. The color alone wasn’t that bright, but from the top of the mountain, each flower appeared to be a gorgeous scarlet color.
Spring had arrived. Everything seemed to be full of vitality, and flowers were in bloom. The season of romance had arrived. At the thought of this, Melanda looked at Mike in a daze. Should she give it a try again for her decade-long crush and for Millie?
“Baby, what are you thinking?” Mike’s voice suddenly sounded. Melanda felt like she had been seen through and her face flushed. Damn it, why did she blush every time she saw Mike? She didn’t know what to do about it.
“Nothing. I’m looking at those beautiful cherry blossoms. Where’s Millie?” Only then did Melanda realize that Millie and Mandy were gone.
“Mandy took her to get ice cream,” Mike replied.
“Baby, you’re dressed so beautifully today. In my heart, you’re much more beautiful than the cherry blossoms.”
“Mike, are you flirting with me? You’re so sweet.” What was this guy doing? Even though I knew these were all flattering words, I still felt touched.
“But I mean it. It’s 100% true. By the way, how are you and Leo now?” Mike suddenly mentioned Leo.
“There’s nothing between us. We’re just colleagues. I already told you.”
“You think he’s just a colleague, but he has feelings for you,” Mike said disapprovingly.
“But I didn’t agree to go out with him. Leo isn’t who you think he is. He respects me,” I said seriously.
“Baby, a man who’s interested in you can only have one thought, and that is to have you. Trust me.” Mike was serious too.
“Even if you’re right, what has it got to do with you?” I couldn’t help but say. This person’s jealousy was always so unreasonable.
“Of course it has something to do with me. I’m concerned about you, baby.” Mike kept calling her baby. It was so embarrassing.
I couldn’t help but say, “Mike, do you think of me as Millie? I’m not your daughter. I’m a 24-year-old adult now. Even if you still think of me as your sister, a 24-year-old sister has the ability to protect herself.”
“Baby, I…” Mike was anxious. He was about to say something when Mandy and Millie returned.
“Mom, Mom, look. Isn’t my cherry ice cream beautiful?”
