I Can't Escape The Baby's Father After Returning Novel - Chapter 27
Chapter 27: A Difficult Client, Leo Saves the Damsel In Distress
Melanda’s POV
“You’re FB’s chief designer?” In FB’s bright client reception room, a client looked at Melanda somewhat provocatively.
“Hello, Mr. Jeffery. I’m Melanda. I’m honored to have the opportunity to provide service for your company,” Melanda said politely.
“Melanda, um, I’m very familiar with Atlanta’s design industry. Why haven’t I heard of your name before?” He was telling the truth.
“Mr. Jeffery, Ms. Melanda just returned from Manhattan. She was working over there before. FB poached her with high compensation.” Leo hurried out to relieve him.
Melanda gave Leo a grateful look. As Melanda opened the collection of personal works on her computer and handed it over, Melanda said, “Mr. Jeffery, this is my personal collection. You can take a look at it. FB thinks my personal style is more compatible with your company’s requirements, so they let me handle this case. If you’re not satisfied with me, you can change the designer.”
Jeffery looked down at Melanda’s work and was very impressed, but he still said, “Then I’ll give you a try. If it’s not done well, I can change the designer at any time.”
“I’ll definitely do my best.” This wasn’t just empty talk. This was the first project Melanda led. She was determined to do a good job.
“Then sit closer so we can communicate our needs.”
Melanda glanced at her client and wondered, could this big-bellied guy have some ulterior motive? But then she decided to put up with it because work was the priority. Originally, she and Leo were sitting across the table from their client. Now, she had to stand up and go over to her client, then sit down.
Jeffrey leaned over, pointed at the computer, and started to talk to Melanda about the project’s needs. Melanda felt his body get closer and closer, and his breath sprayed on her face. She couldn’t help but feel disgusted, but he was talking about very specific project needs. There was nothing inappropriate about his words, so she had to record them quickly. She had no opportunity to say anything.
She didn’t know when Leo had disappeared. “This guy isn’t reliable,” Melanda thought to herself angrily.
Just as Jeffrey’s body was about to lean on Melanda, Melanda heard Leo’s voice. “Mr. Jeffrey, your coffee got cold, so I got you a new cup.”
“Okay, leave it over there.”
“But this coffee is freshly made. It’s better to drink it now. If it gets cold, the coffee will be astringent.” Leo insisted and handed the coffee to Jeffrey.
Jeffrey had to sit up straight and reach for it. Leo sat down in Melanda’s seat and started to jot down notes, so the meeting went back to normal.
Soon, the meeting ended. Before he left, Jeffrey refused to let go of Melanda’s hand. Leo had to reach out to Jeffrey and ask to shake his hand. Only then did Jeffrey let go of Melanda’s hand.
They sent Jeffrey to the elevator and when the door closed, Melanda breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to Leo. “Thank you, Leo.”
“In my opinion, there is no need to work with such a person. His character is too terrible!” Leo said angrily.
“Forget it, we can’t choose clients.” Although Melanda was uncomfortable, she was helpless.
“This project has just started. Who knows what he will do next?”
“It’s okay. I’ll be careful. This is my first client, after all. I don’t want anything to go wrong.” Melanda looked like she wanted to let it slide.
“Then you must remember not to see him alone. He has ulterior motives towards you.” Leo was still worried.
“Okay, thank you for what you did today!” Melanda was genuinely grateful to Leo.
“Why are you being so formal with me? If he wasn’t a client, I would have punched him long ago.” Leo was still a little unhappy that she had let this scum go..
