Chapter 32: Limited Space in the Barrier
“Get lost!”
“All of you, get lost!”
A rough and angry voice was heard in the crowd. However, it was quickly drowned out.
Amidst the crowd, a man was pushing the people in front of him away as he squeezed towards a certain direction.
He looked anxious, as if he was searching for something important.
The man continued to squeeze through the packed street with difficulty.
In such a crowded street, it would take more than a minute to move a meter.
The anxious man squeezed through the crowd for more than five minutes before he finally stopped in front of a quilt shop that had already been pushed into a sorry state by the crowd. The anxious expression on his face only calmed down when he reached the table by the shop.
Following which, the man squatted down and looked at the little girl who was curled up on the floor under the table, holding her swollen and red hand. Her eyes were streaming with tears, and she was biting her clothes while trembling from fear. Reaching out a hand, he placed it on the little girl’s forehead as he chanted.
The moment the incantation was completed, a green light emitted from the palm on the little girl’s forehead. The light instantly enveloped the little girl’s entire body.
The little girl, who was crying, biting her hair, and shivering, was comforted by the warm green light and gradually calmed down.
The little girl’s red and swollen hands were also cured by the warm green light. The swelling gradually subsided until a pair of soft and tender hands reappeared before the little girl’s eyes.
The little girl’s hands, after being treated by the man in front of her with magic, returned to their best state. They were soft and tender, with 10 slender fingers.
The little girl looked at her hands, which were as good as new, and her original down and out heart instantly regained its cheerfulness.
The little girl looked up at the man who was kneeling on the floor outside the table while looking down at her. This man had extended his hand and used magic to treat her in her time of need, and her tears flowed uncontrollably.
However, the tears this time were not tears from the pain, but tears from someone finally noticing and coming to save her.
Moreover, this man and this little girl knew each other. More accurately, everyone present knew him.
That man was the Commander of the Knight Guards, who had been scared stiff when the werewolf leader had broken through his barrier.
He had heard the little girl’s cries and followed the sound, making his way through the crowd to rescue her.
“Alright, come out. I’ll take you to a safe place.”
The commander spoke gently to the little girl.
The little girl slowly got up and prepared to walk towards the Knight Commander.
However, the little girl seemed to have forgotten her own height. As she stood up straight under the table, her head collided with the bottom of the table.
“Ah!”
The little girl was in so much pain from the collision that she immediately squatted down and covered her head with her hands. She puffed up her cheeks and looked like she was enduring the pain without crying.
“Puchi~”
The commander almost laughed out loud, but he held it back.
“Be careful. Squat down and move out bit by bit.”
With the commander guiding her, the little girl soon moved out from the bottom of the table. The commander then carried her in his arms to prevent more injuries from happening to her.
Then, the commander squeezed into the crowd once again and walked towards the direction of safety with difficulty.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The alpha wolf was still destroying things everywhere. One moment, he would run to the roof of a house and smash the tiles, then in another he would jump and destroy a stall. The next moment, he would run into the crowd and roar.
Wherever he went, he left behind a deep crater and deep furrows from his claws.
Swish!
The werewolf leader suddenly disappeared from where he was and stabbed one of the guards at high speed.
“That wolf is coming!”
“Move aside, let me in!”
A middle-aged man who was squeezing in from outside the barrier thought that the werewolf was here to kill him. He immediately panicked and frantically pounded on the person inside the barrier with both hands. He forcefully pulled the person inside out and squeezed himself inside.
“Quickly thicken the barrier! Thicken the barrier!”
The middle-aged man who had dragged the others out of the barrier and squeezed himself in looked in the direction that the werewolf was charged, but he hollered in another direction.
The uncle was shouting to the knight guards who were supporting the barrier magic.
However, the middle-aged man was afraid that the werewolf leader would come to kill him, so he didn’t dare to take his eyes off the werewolf leader. All he did was yell to the side.
Swish!
However, it only took the blink of an eye for the werewolf leader to disappear from his sight.
“Where did it go?!”
“Where did it go?!”
The middle-aged man looked around in fear as he frantically searched for the figure of the werewolf.
Some things were more terrifying if not seen.
For example, imagine if a palm-sized spider was on the wall in front of you. The moment you blinked, the spider disappeared. You might go around to look around for the spider without realizing that the spider had already jumped onto your back.
This was exactly what happened to the middle-aged man. In the blink of an eye, the werewolf had disappeared.
However, the werewolf leader didn’t jump onto the uncle’s back like a spider. Instead, he was standing on the man’s head.
Oh, that was not correct.
More accurately, the werewolf leader was standing on the barrier itself.
The werewolf leader stood directly above the knight who had activated the barrier spell.
Afterward, the werewolf leader crouched down and lowered his head. His eyes were fierce as he looked at the terrified crowd below the barrier with drool dripping from his mouth.
Under the ferocious gaze of the werewolf leader, some people under the barrier went into shock. Some were scared to death, while others were so frightened that they foamed at the mouth and fainted.
“Hey… aren’t you a knight guard? Go attack it!”
“Yeah, why are you still standing here?”
“Why are you still standing here stupidly? Can’t you see that the wolf is above us? Why aren’t you attacking it? What kind of knight are you?”
The few girls under the barrier seemed to have been scared silly by the werewolf. They were so frightened that they lost their consciousness and became muddle-headed.
They seemed to have forgotten that the reason why the knight guards stood still was because they were holding their hands up high to protect everyone.
These girls went completely crazy. They took off their bags, their hands, and necklaces and threw them at the werewolf leader who was squatting on their heads.
As they threw their items, they kept cursing, “Get lost! Get lost!”
When the girls saw that they had thrown away all the items they could throw, they began to snatch the items from the people around them to throw at the werewolf leader.
“F*ck!”
“That was a spherical magic artifact that I just bought!”
“I’ll throw your mother [1. The pronunciation for “throw” sounds like “f**k” in Cantonese, hence the slang]! Give it back to me!”
However, the ladies didn’t listen to him at all. They just kept throwing things at the werewolf leader, of which his spherical magic equipment was included.
There was a loud “Bang!” as the ball-shaped magic artifact that was thrown out fell back to the ground due to gravity and then… shattered.
The man’s heart skipped a beat when he heard the crisp sound of something breaking. Then, he passed out from grief..
