Chapter 1922: Doesn’t Matter, I Can Entrust My Whole Life to You
She recalled the last time at Song Ruixue’s house when she listened to their conversation. It seemed like Xu Baohan’s had a pretty decent family background, and he also had a family fortune to inherit.
Nevertheless, the wealth mainly belonged to his parents, so it was not necessary for her. She was content as long as she had enough money to live off.
Xu Baohan’s house was spotless; even the kitchen was well-organized. Although he rarely cooked, he still had all of the necessary kitchen equipment.
After preparing a bowl of pigeon soup and stir-fried some cauliflower, An Lan packed some clean clothes for Xu Baohan to change before heading to the hospital.
When she arrived at the ward, the old lady whose husband had occupied the other bed came earlier. The room was filled with the aroma of food, and Xu Baohan was lying alone on the bed, causing An Lan to feel incredibly guilty. The hunger look on the young man’s face makes her thought that she should have prepared a quick meal.
“Young man, your girlfriend has brought you food,” the old lady reminded him with a smile.
Xu Baohan immediately opened his eyes and quickly put down the things in his hands. After repositioning his bed to an upright position, he placed a soft pillow behind him.
Xu Baohan apologized, “An Lan, thank you for your hard work. You’ll have me as your cook for the rest of your life.”
“However, I don’t think I have told you I will give you the rest of my life,” An Lan smiled slyly.
Xu Baohan’s expression froze, and he replied softly, “It’s alright. I can give you the rest of my life.”
His eloquence was becoming increasingly impressive to An Lan. The corners of her lips curled up as she handed him the chopsticks, “I’ve stewed half a chicken for you.”
“Have you eaten?”
“Yes.”
When Xu Baohan removed the lid of the thermos, a strong odour of chicken soup wafted over. The chicken soup was also golden in colour. His gaze softened as he finished the chicken soup and vegetables, leaving not a single piece of garlic behind.
“Did I prepared too little…?” An Lan asked hesitantly, “I should have stewed the entire chicken.”
“This is enough,” Xu Baohan nodded, his cold face showing some warmth, “My stomach is already very full. As this is the first time you have cooked for me, I don’t want to waste any of it. Furthermore, it’s been a while since anyone made me soup.”
She was slightly heartbroken when she observed that although his house was so big and spacious, it was cold and quiet inside. Had she not been the same? Occasionally, she would cook soup for herself in order to supplement her health. Looking at her colleagues at the law firm, their parents were the ones who prepared the soup for them instead.
“What a coincidence. Me neither.”
“I’ll cook for you when I’m cured,” Xu Baohan held her hand, “by the way, did you get me a phone?”
“Yes, I did,” An Lan pulled out a phone with a green posterior, “this is the latest model. It was just released last month and was endorsed by Chi Shengxu. What do you think of it?”
“Why is the colour so vivid?” Xu Baohan frowned. Never before had he own something with such a bright colour.
“Does it seem bright? I think it looks pretty good and it’s extremely trendy. That’s what I like about it.”
Xu Baohan did not say anything. The only thing that mattered was that she liked it.
“How about taking a nap?” Xu Baohan suddenly changed the topic, “you had a restless night.”
Not only did she not sleep well, she only managed to fell asleep at two in the morning. Her morning had been busy since she awoke. While walking to the ward, An Lan almost dozes off.
Yet, at the sight of this bed, she hesitated once again.
The lights were off last night, but it was broad daylight now. The young woman would feel humiliated if anyone else saw her squeezing in the patient’s bed.
