Five Time Regressor Walks the King’s Path - Chapter 48
Chapter 48
They couldn’t even follow me with their eyes. They could only scream after earning a strike from me and lay sprawled on the floor.
I crouched down in front of them.
“You thought I wouldn’t have a problem when you’re talking shit to my face? Wanna die?”
“Agh! This, this crazy bastard!”
They had yet to get the right mindset, so I gave each of them another whack. I then stood up while brushing my hand off.
“Don’t fuck with me from now. If I see you around with those shitty eyes again, things won’t end as easily as this time.”
Leaving behind the ones that fell unconscious, I went to the House of Lyonnais’s mercenary application center. After completing the application form, I was sitting in my seat.
The bottom of my helmet was opened and I munched on the rice balls I’d bought earlier. The guys who’d been beaten up staggered to their feet and hobbled toward me.
On their way to me, they huddled with someone else while looking in my direction and said something.
Not a moment later, a rather large guy approached me.
He was about two meters tall and held a club in his hand. He looked down at me as he spoke.
“Did you bully our kids?”
“Piss off. You’ll only get yourself hurt.”
“Haha. I heard you were fearless, but to this extent? I’m the leader of the Extra Mercenary Group, my name is Rosua Extra—”
Tired of listening to him talk, I gave him a quick kick to the stomach with my armored leg.
Rosua couldn’t finish speaking before his body flew back, colliding with the guys who had ratted on me. He rolled around a few times on the ground.
I must have kicked him pretty hard. Rosua was on the ground, throwing up, and he broke out in a cold sweat.
“How did he beat that Rosua jerk?”
“Wow, a monster-like guy appeared. He didn’t even use any aura just now.”
“That was pure strength.”
The mercenary onlookers watched the event unfold and were actually pleased by the outcome. They were cackling and mumbling amongst each other.
Rosua’s face flushed red in embarrassment, but when I glared at him behind my helmet, he flinched and fled with his group.
He realized he was no match for me after that kick.
“It’s a war, damn it! The neighboring kingdom, Setura, is marching here with their troops! We’ve been ordered to move to the city wall right away by the lord!”
A soldier came to break the news to the mercenaries.
The mercenaries got up from their seats calmly as if this was nothing new and I followed behind them.
Soon after, as the sound of the alarm spread throughout the territory, citizens who had yet to evacuate began to abandon their homes and flee.
“Fuck, there’s a lot. Setura is a conscription country, so it’s famous for having tons of soldiers.”
“They definitely plan to break through Lyonnais today. After the battle against Sotillia, the kingdoms have begun to form alliances against our empire. That’s the signal for real war.”
“Hey, there’s news. War began in other parts of the country. The allied kingdoms are trying to undermine our empire in earnest. The awful thing is the fact that the empire has to disperse the army. At this rate, the borders of the empire will all be blown apart.”
“Fine by me! Hey, the time for us mercenaries to earn money has come!”
Word came and went between the mercenaries who traveled to protect Lyonnais.
The conversation shared on the frontlines has a lot of important information, so I listened carefully with both ears open. Soon enough, we arrived in front of the walls of Lyonnais.
“Prepare your bows! Those with a hand to spare, go bring the catapults provided from within the territory!”
“Mercenaries! All of you who can shoot arrows come up! It’s over once the wall is breached!”
Soldiers ran around, shouting. The mercenaries each moved to their respective areas while complaining that it was too noisy.
After watching the scene, I climbed up the wall leisurely. Up on the wall, people were moving perfectly in sync. I stopped a running soldier.
“Hey, where are the boulders for the catapult?”
“Yes? Oh, it’s over there, Sir Knight.”
He must have mistaken me for a knight due to my armor. He quickly answered and ran off to who-knows-where.
I looked to the direction the soldier pointed. With a jump from the wall, I arrived at the area where the boulders were piled up.
There I approached a 100-Man Commander yelling at people to quickly bring the catapult.
“Yo, Commander, can I use that boulder?”
“What? What do you mean ‘use’? And a mercenary? I don’t know what you’re thinking, but these boulders are to be used for the catapults.”
“Either way, it’s gonna be thrown and hit the enemies, right? Then, I’ll just…”
I slipped my hand under a boulder and lifted it up.
“Wha—?? Huh?!”
I easily lifted a boulder the size of ten men and turned toward the wall.
“Make it fly. That’s all there is to it, right?”
I flung the boulder into the sky like it was shot put.
The rock I’d hurled flew into the sky with furious speed, flying past the wall. A moment later, an explosive sound was heard in the distance.
Judging from the sounds of screaming, it seemed that I hit right on the mark.
“I’ll use everything.”
The 100-Man Commander stood there with his mouth agape, but I paid him no mind and lifted up the next boulder.
He must have finally come to his senses. He stuttered in disbelief at what he was seeing.
“W-Who in the world a-are you? What strength…”
“Chang-Sung. Yeah, just remember that.”
I threw out the first random name that came to my mind before flinging out the next boulder.
When the flying rock hit the enemy again, those who found it strange how the rock was flying out too fast turned to look at me one by one.
“Am I imagining things?”
“That guy… He’s a human catapult.”
“Isn’t that only possible at the Sword Master level? He’s a real monster.”
“You idiot. He’s not using aura. That means he’s using pure strength!”
“I saw him earlier. That’s the guy who knocked out Rosua with a single blow.”
Commotions arose here and there.
Regardless of whether they were mercenaries or soldiers, everybody was watching me and couldn’t look away. Only the 100-Man Commander quickly came to his senses and began shouting to people that they were at war and to snap out of it.
After flinging away all the boulders, I dusted my hands off and jumped up to the wall with a single leap.
A few who saw me jumping up the ten-meter wall were stunned, but I paid them no mind and scanned the Setura Kingdom’s side.
They put their advance on hold for now, thanks to dozens of boulders flying their way.
The damage was considerable and they seemed to be wary of more flying rocks.
‘Good. We have the upper hand.’
People’s attention was focused on me. Thinking how it was the perfect opportunity, I jumped down from the wall.
Those around me weren’t expecting that, and some even shouted in surprise. After landing on the ground, I simply moved on without a care.
What I pulled out from my back was a great sword with a pretty blunt blade. Wielding that large sword, I headed toward the Setura Kingdom’s army.
“Huh? Hey, what’s that over there? Something’s coming this way.”
“A knight?”
Setura noticed the situation and began to turn in my direction.
I walked through the dust storm, wearing my blue armor.
I certainly caught their eye and they wondered for a moment who I was. With their commander’s instructions, they prepared for battle.
A few warning arrows were shot my way, but my armor blocked those and I started swinging my sword.
The torque of the sword increased and by the time they noticed something strange happening on my side, I threw my great sword.
The great sword flew with incredible speed and sliced through all the bodies of those who were watching absent-mindedly.
Running after it, I randomly grabbed a sword amongst the cut bodies and jumped into the middle of the enemy lines.
And the chaos started from there.
After throwing the great sword and attacking the enemy’s line with the sword I’d grabbed, I moved forward, picking up the great sword and throwing it again. And again, and again.
The enemy commander shouted orders hoping to somehow stop me, but that only made me want to aim for their neck more. And that was exactly what I did.
“Monster! You monster!”
“Kill him! Why can’t we stop a single man?! Who the hell is this guy?!”
“All of our knights are dying. This makes no sense. We are an army of 50,000, but why are we being stopped by a single guy before we even reach the walls of Lyonnais?!”
Voices filled with indignation were heard.
As they said, I was defeating Setura before they even had the chance to properly stir up a war.
‘That doesn’t mean I’ll kill them all by myself.’
Rather, it’s a problem if I kill everyone.
Setura has to recover, and once they do, they have to attack the empire once in a while to keep them on their toes. That way, both the utility and value of the military would rise.
In reality, I might be breaking through the enemy like this, but the number of soldiers I killed hadn’t exceeded 1,000.
However, that was a feat astounding enough to spread fear through Setura’s forces.
A knight in blue overwhelming 50,000 people.
‘I think that’s enough of harassing the ordinary soldiers for today. What’s left is…’
I turned my gaze.
I located the high-ranking officer leading the army, likely the one with the highest rank. I jumped on the head of a guy who was about to stab me with a spear.
I flew in the air and landed right in front of the high-ranking officer. He wore dazzling and excessive armor and frantically spit out orders.
“Get out of my way! Move! Everyone stop him! That bastard’s after my neck!”
As soon as he realized that I was targeting him, he screamed and tried to run away.
Of course, the high-ranking officer had high-level knights around him, and they were ready to stop me with aura-filled attacks.
However, I easily knocked them down one by one before jumping right behind the commanding officer who was fleeing on a horse.
Soon enough, his head was cut off and the corpse tumbled down from the running horse.
That marked the end of my goal to cut down all the knights and the high-ranking officer. Those around me moved away while shrieking.
Despite being in the middle of the enemy’s army, no one came within a five-meter radius. They were all doing everything in their power to get away from me. A few were even fearfully shedding tears.
‘With this…’
Suddenly, from afar, the loud sound of cheering was heard mixed with the sound of horse hooves and people running.
Lyonnais had opened the gates and sent out their troops.
Noticing how the high-ranking officer had died thanks to me and that Setura’s morale had plummeted, Lyonnais sent out their army to seize complete victory.
Unlike the beginning when Setura had come to attack Lyonnais, this time when Lyonnais initiated the attack, the panicked Setura army hurriedly shouted for retreat.
I easily pursued those who were fleeing from me and swung my sword. That accelerated Setura’s withdrawal.
In no time at all, the battlefield began to fill up with allies wearing the Gratia Empire’s mark.
And they were all looking at me.
Yearning, envy, heroism. The greatest ally who led the war to victory, though I murdered a great number.
Leaving those gazes behind, I went back behind Lyonnais’s walls.
