Ferocious Boss: Hubby, Let's Get Married - Chapter 896
Chapter 896: I Cannot Bear to See You Sad
Yue Tingfeng was a very persistent person. He was even more stubborn than Yan Qingsi.
He, himself had not expected that he would be so enamored with a person. It was as though a spell had been cast over him; he could not control himself when he was around her.
He would get excited when she was scheming something shady. His heart would ache when she was sad. He would get mad when she was shamed.
He had never wanted Yan Qingsi to please any of his family members, she just had to be herself.
Although Yan Qingsi had not gone out of her way to do or say anything to please Yue Tingfeng’s grandparents, she did a lot of preparation before coming to Su city.
When he was not home, she had asked his mother about the preference and unspoken ethical values of each family member of the Sus. Yan Qingsi had also accompanied his mother to buy something that the two elderly would like.
Before she arrived at Su City, she had been afraid that the elderly couple would hate young women who had heavy make up on, so she did not dare to put on any. She did not even dare to wear anything too revealing; everything that she picked out was simple.
Yue Tingfeng had never seen Yan Qingsi so careful with anyone before. She had always been free-spirited, not caring about what others thought of her.
He hugged Yan Qingsi tightly. “It’s enough to just be yourself,” he said, tone low. “It’s enough if you’re happy. I can’t bear to see you sad…”
“Ahem…” A small cough interrupted them.
The rare occasion of such a good moment between both of them ended so abruptly. Yan Qingsi quickly shoved Yue Tingfeng aside. She turned her head and saw Su Zhen. He was dressed in uniform, standing straight and tall. His attractive eyes were bright under the dim lighting. He held a hat in his hands. His uncomfortable expression was probably due to him running into the two mashing their faces together.
The corners of Yan Qingsi’s mouth twitched. This…was a little awkward.
Still, Yue Tingfeng did not feel an ounce of awkwardness. He slung his arm over Yan Qingsi’s shoulder. “I never thought that you would be able to come back,” he said, smiling at Su Zhen.
Su Zhen greeted Yan Qingsi with a small nod. “Su city is pretty near to Hai city. It just so happened that I came back to do something. It’s almost time. We should go.”
“Sure. Let’s go together.”
The three of them walked, shoulder to shoulder. “You said you would just ignore us. Why did you interrupt us?” Yue Tingfeng asked Su Zhen, “did you do it on purpose?”
“That’s right,” Su Zhen replied, expression impassive. “It was on purpose.”
“It’s already 7:40. If we don’t get there on time, there’ll be the alcohol punishment.”
“It’s rare to see you being so nice,” Yue Tingfeng said, grinning, “you used to look forward to punishing me with drinks.”
Su Zhen glanced toward Yan Qingsi. She remained silent, a small smile on her lips. When she was not talking, she looked like…there was actually an air of gentleness around her. Su Zhen shook his head. He must be wrong.
“You’re bringing your girlfriend back for the first time,” he said, “the elders have already arrived. It’s not going to make a good first impression if you two aren’t there yet.”
Yue Tingfeng shrugged his shoulders. “All right…but if you see us at it again next time, just pretend that you didn’t see anything.”
“I’ll try,” Su Zhen answered.
…
Yan Qingsi inhaled deeply when she entered the Sus’ banquet hall.
She took a step in. Everyone was there. The members of the entire house flooded the space, their heads creating a sea of black.
Panic suddenly seized Yan Qingsi’s heart. She clenched onto Yue Tingfeng’s hand with an iron grip. The corners of his mouth twitched in pain. He quickly held her hand reassuringly. “That’s my eldest uncle. Second Uncle. Third Uncle. My eldest uncle’s wife. Second Uncle’s wife. Third Uncle’s wife. They’re all back.”
“I heard that you brought your girlfriend,” Yue Tingfeng’s third uncle’s wife said, “how could we not come back? You have a more promising future than all your cousin brothers. Look at them. They’re still single. It gives me a headache to look at them every day.”
