Fatal Shot - Chapter 312
After traveling about 50 meters at an extremely precise angle, an armor-piercing bullet with a faint red color hit a Desert Tarantula, twisting its eight long legs as the bullet sped through the creature’s side and out the center of its back!
“-4566!”
A red lethal damage!
The power of the armor-piercing bullet opened a fist-sized hole in the Desert Tarantula’s back, immediately depleting the Level 50 Normal Desert Tarantula’s approximately 5000 HP!
At the same time, the entry wound had erupted into a ball of flames, burning along its dense hair!
[Deflagration Armor-Piercing Bullet Model II (C-Grade Ammunition)]
Raises attack power by 25%, creates an explosion upon hitting target, causing continuous burning effect for a certain period of time. If target is lighted successfully, it will cause a spread burn damage.
Feng Luo put down the Eye of the Thunder, very satisfied with the effect of this C-Grade bullet he had won from the auction.
In contrast to the D-Grade Deflagration Armor-Piercing Bullet, a C-Grade Deflagration Armor-Piercing Bullet did not have the limitation of only lighting flammable targets, as the high-energy liquid fuel in the bullet head could be lit after its explosion, and the attack power increase could be raised too!
The only flaw was that, similar to the Energy armor-piercing bullet, it would trace an obvious trajectory in the sky when being shot at night, which would undoubtedly expose its position!
But anyway, at a price of only 200 credits, it was still a lot cheaper than some C-Grade Energy armor-piercing bullets that were now a little downgraded, and it could even be luxuriously used for training!
“Big Brother Feng, your shooting is so accurate!” said the young Sniper beside Feng Luo.
He was also holding a sniper rifle, but he couldn’t find any targets. Although he had already seen Feng Luo at work in the earlier fight, his mundane eyes still shone with surprise and envy!
One fatal shot, every bullet causing a red damage!
To a Sniper, that was the ultimate goal.
In contrast, it seemed as if the sniper rifle in his hands was disobedient; if it was not for the enhancement of skills, there would be at least five times more chance of missing such a fast-moving and agility-type target as the Desert Tarantula!
“Big Brother Feng, how is it that you’re always able to hit critical points so effortlessly, causing fatal damages?” Watermelon Skin could not help but ask.
He knew that Feng Luo’s equipment was extremely good, which was why his shots were powerful enough to finish off a Level 50 Normal Desert Tarantula in one strike. The rifle Feng Luo used was the Rare weapon that had recently become incredibly popular and sought after by most Snipers—the Eye of the Thunder!
But the Rare equipment couldn’t account for Feng Luo’s 70% rate of causing lethal damage, which would be almost 100% with the weak damage added! That string of red damage coefficients was more important to a Sniper than any equipment!
“To cause critical damage, you first have to find the precise critical point. Actually, for a Sniper, killing organism-type monsters and mechanic-type monsters are similar processes; the key to both lies in destroying the Control Core and the Energy Core!” Feng Luo turned, putting down the Eye of the Thunder.
“But there are too many types of monsters in War, and the critical point is very hard to determine. The information from the scope doesn’t include indications of the critical point!” Watermelon Skin said with a troubled expression.
“There are two ways to deal with that problem. First, you can look up the information on the forum before missions, and second, you can determine based on experience!”
“Take the Desert Tarantula, for instance. Although its mutant body is very large, its overall structure is still the same as a normal spider’s. So its main critical point is the brain in its head, same as most monsters, but the defense at the head area is high, so it can be very difficult for a single shot to cause lethal damage. Another spot is not the heart but the aortic blood vessel in the spider’s back, so to pull off a critical attack, you want to hit its back, not the abdomen!”
Feng Luo thought for a moment.
“As for hitting the critical point or weakness with every shot… I suggest you try not engaging all your skills, or even deleting some of your passive accuracy skills, then completely depending on your own judgment to shoot. Practice for three months, then start learning skills from scratch!”
“Practicing completely without skills?” Watermelon Skin muttered, as if in thought.
…
“Come here, little thing, would you like something nice to eat?”
Behind Feng Luo and Watermelon Skin, the two female Manipulators were holding out a white crystal, attempting to lure 24K away from Feng Luo’s shoulder. Feng Luo had told them that 24K needed to eat Crystals, so they had taken out a Crystal in the hopes of getting 24K to crawl into their hands where they could pet him.
Since pets were so rare, although 24K was a beetle and Feng Luo was perfectly happy if it remained so, it was still well-liked by many female players!
However, 24K did not pay any attention to them at all. It shook its little head scornfully, then crawled a few steps, took out an Energy Crystal out of Feng Luo’s tactical vest, and began chomping on it delightedly and noisily!
“Ah, a silver crystal worth 1000 credits, how extravagant!”
Seeing that 24K was used to taking things out of Feng Luo’s pockets, the two female Manipulators could not help but exclaim in surprise.
Since Feng Luo had recently become rich, he was naturally getting better items of all types, and so 24K’s taste had also become more… refined. Now, if it was not super hungry, 24K would not even eat white crystals, let alone lower grade grey crystals!
“Oh god, Big Brother Feng, is this pet of yours getting too used to doing whatever it wants? I’ve heard before that many pets eat crystals, but it’s just crystal shards, grey crystals, stuff like that…”
“This beetle is actually eating silver crystals! It’s too extravagant, plus it seems like its combat power is not high…”
The two female Manipulators were embarrassed as they put away their own crystals, but they were even more curious looking at 24K. Earlier, they had privately concluded that 24K must belong to the viewing and assisting category of pets; after all, with this build, it was not possible for it to participate in combat at all!
From start to finish, none of the six people in this small team had noticed the Scout Beetle above their heads, and so naturally they did not know that 24K was a “War’s first”-titled BOSS-Grade pet!
Just then, the Heavy Armored Warrior named Steel Fortress returned and displayed the prizes he had brought up.
“Brother Feng, for you!”
Thereafter, My World once again passed three of the mission items called “Eye of the Desert Tarantula” over to Feng Luo!
But he held himself differently from Watermelon Skin; he kept his admiration hidden, and his expression seemed a little conflicted. He was thinking about what had happened one hour before.
After he had happily packed up his equipment, still a bit stunned by Feng Luo’s generosity, a huge horde of more than 30 Desert Tarantulas had appeared close by!
As My World’s team had all turned pale, Feng Luo had simply started firing instead of choosing to retreat. As he fired, he enraged the Desert Tarantula horde, which began charging directly towards them!
My World’s forehead creased involuntarily—Feng Luo was a little too self-confident.
They only had seven people, while opposite them was a huge black horde of Desert Tarantulas; although most of them were of Normal-Grade, there were also three huge Elite-Grades!
Even though they had previously finished off four Elite Desert Tarantulas, they had suffered greatly to do so, and they weren’t even half-recovered yet.
Perhaps My World’s group would still have been able to escape if the Desert Tarantulas hadn’t been enraged, but now that the Desert Tarantula horde had been infuriated, there was absolutely no chance of retreating!
Having no choice, they could only battle.
But as they began to fight, he was surprised. Feng Luo was proving that his self-confidence wasn’t just empty boasting!
The Eye of the Thunder boomed continuously, spitting out a stream of hot bullets less than one second apart. With every gunshot, one of the charging Normal-Grade Desert Tarantulas fell to the ground, and so the Desert Tarantula horde left a trail of corpses as they surged forward.
By the time the horde had crossed a third of the distance to My World’s group, Feng Luo had already killed 10 Normal-Grade Desert Tarantulas!
After My World’s team recovered from their shock, they quickly assisted in attacking at range!
In the end, when the last Desert Tarantula had stopped in its tracks 10 meters away from them, everyone was relieved and delighted.
In addition to the Experience they had obtained from eliminating more than 30 Desert Tarantulas, allowing their Manipulators to gain an entire level, they had also once again received many prizes and Crystals, including Normal and Fine-Grade Level 50 items!
This had also allowed the Manipulators in the team to replenish much of the MP they had initially depleted due to their average equipment, so they now had the power to continue killing monsters!
And continuing to kill monsters was Feng Luo’s original goal!
“Desert Tarantulas have a unique hearing organ that can receive distress signals in the air from very far away. Therefore, once we’ve killed these Desert Tarantulas, there’ll definitely be follow-up tarantulas coming, but since there are no nests nearby, it’ll be a horde of less than 40.”
“With how we’ve organized the battlefield, we’d certainly be able to take on a group like that, and the Experience from killing monsters of higher grades is a lot higher than that of normal monsters! Of course, it’s fine if you guys choose to leave, too…” Feng Luo said directly.
“Should we stay or leave?” My World asked. He found his answer in the anticipation filling his teammates’ eyes.
Following that, just as Feng Luo had said, the monsters came in small groups. By taking down a couple monsters every minute or two, they would have killed more than 200 Desert Tarantulas in an hour!
In addition, Feng Luo wasn’t remotely concerned about the items left behind by the Desert Tarantulas—he just wanted the Desert Tarantula eyeballs which were mission items. To him, this hour or so of training was equivalent to four or five days of returns!
But now, Feng Luo had all the mission items he wanted. Very clearly, this exceptionally effortless journey of killing monsters was about to end!
Seeing that Feng Luo had stood up, Tangerine, a Fire Manipulator in the team who was apparently still a student in real life, turned to Feng Luo.
“Big Brother Feng, are you still coming here to train tomorrow?” she asked.
“Brother Feng should be doing a Level 50 promotion mission, and he should reach Level 50 after submitting the mission. Then he wouldn’t have to train anymore…” My World said. He had already guessed what mission Feng Luo was doing from the mission item.
“Yeah, I should be leaving Storm City tomorrow and going back to Silvermoon City!” Feng Luo said, smiling. Unexpectedly, the players’ eyes lit up.
“Silvermoon City! You mean the Silvermoon City that is to the South, near the rebellion border?”
“Why, you all know about it?” Feng Luo was a little surprised.
“For this mission of ours, the next round would be to go to Silvermoon City. We could meet Brother Feng again!” Tangerine said with delighted eyes.
“Then you’re welcome to join me once I’ve reached Silvermoon City, if there’s time. I can be the host.” Feng Luo smiled as well.
A little embarrassed, the mundane Sniper shifted his rifle nervously in his hands and asked, “Well then, Big Brother Feng, could we exchange electronic name cards?”
“Sure!” Feng Luo nodded.
After exchanging electronic name cards with everyone, Feng Luo took out the “Land Bullet” SCV1 with a streak of white light.
“Goodbye then!”
He mounted and the Energy engine slightly rumbled to life, and with 24K lying on his shoulder, he left a track in the sand running far away into the desert!
