Falling in Love with My Contracted Husband - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 I Don’t Dare to Do It Anymore
“I’m looking for Mom, Wuwu.”
A bolt of lightning flashed through the pitch-black night sky. The muffled thunder overwhelmed the childish cries and illuminated the petite figure in the drifting rain.
However, at the age of ten, she was going to receive such a cruel punishment in this heavy rain. No one knew how she would be able to withstand such a blow.
She knocked helplessly on the tightly closed door, her small hands were already swollen and red, and it was unknown whether it was rain or tears flowing down her cheeks.
Perhaps it was because she couldn’t bear it, or perhaps it was because her conscience discovered that with a “squeak”, the door that had been knocked on for a long time suddenly opened from the inside, causing her to be caught off guard, and she staggered and almost fell to the ground.
Her weak body was so petite under the figure of the person behind the door that even if she stood on tiptoe, she probably wouldn’t be able to reach that person’s shoulder.
“Do you still dare to do so next time?” The voice was low and cold as if it came from hell.
Even though she had imagined such a loving face countless times in her heart, the weak little girl in the rain could not connect the woman in front of her with her mother.
However, she had already been soaked in this heavy rain for half an hour. Her body was already wet. Most importantly, she was afraid of the dark. Such a dark night was like a nightmare in her world.
“I, I don’t dare anymore.” The little girl lowered her head and her voice unconsciously trembled.
“Hmph!” A cold snort came from the man’s nose. Just as she felt a chill in her heart, she was suddenly pulled through the door by the man. She wanted to see the surroundings, but the moment she entered the room, she was blinded by the dazzling light.
The door slammed shut, and the girl unconsciously trembled.
The day she was brought out of the orphanage, she thought she would never be alone again. However, she was wrong. The woman in front of her, who had taken her away, was like a devil, leaving a deep mark on her young heart.
“Come here, Zixi.”
The woman leaning against the sofa not far away was lazy, but her tone was harsh. With just a single glance, that cold gaze made her feel a burst of fear in her heart.
The name Zi Xi was given to her by the woman in front of her. Her original name had long since been forbidden to be said.
This was not the first time that such a situation had occurred. If she disobeyed, she would be severely punished, beaten, locked up in a dark room, or even starved for a day.
In this kind of life, she had to compromise.
“Su … Mom, I know I was wrong. I won’t dare to do it again in the future.” Her voice trembled, revealing the fear in her heart. Zi Xi shifted his somewhat tired footsteps and timidly walked a few steps. He stopped a meter or two away from the woman and left a long water mark in the room following her footsteps.
“I didn’t bring you back to oppose me.” Su Wanyun’s icy cold voice ruthlessly pierced Zi Xi’s heart, causing her body to tremble again.
She lowered her head and saw the red and purple patch on her arm. Her heart was filled with fear. The pain was unbearable for her. She wondered what kind of punishment she would receive next.
“I will never do it again. Mom, I will listen to you.” An Zixi pleaded.
Actually, she really wanted to cry, but the tears rolled in her eyes, but she didn’t dare to fall.
“Go to your room and change your clothes.” Su Wanyun stared coldly at An Zixi. She was slightly relieved by her obedience today, so her tone naturally became much lighter.
An Zixi raised her head in surprise. Today, she actually didn’t teach herself a lesson. She was even a little flattered.
“Huh?” Su Wanyun opened her eyes and looked at An Zixi, who was still standing on the spot. She frowned. “I’m not leaving yet. Is there anything I can do for you?”
“I’m going!” An Zixi rarely had such a good chance to escape from her beating. She was also instantly woken up. She quickly reacted and calmly concealed her surprise just now.
Su Wanyun waved her hand, indicating for her to leave. She closed her eyes again, and a rare look of exhaustion appeared on her face.
When An Zixi left, Su Wanyun only half-opened her eyes and looked in the direction An Zixi had left. She seemed to say to herself, “If I hadn’t been harder on you, those people would have been harder on me.”
