Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 93
Chapter 93: Episode 25. Achievement Store (4)
In the meantime…
Krathra, who was riding Griffin, was flying across the sky with several Shades.
“This is an order from the master. I must complete it.”
Krathra grew up as Krithli’s guardian. He was trained to protect the hope of the tribe, which was Krithli. Krathra was pretending that he was Krithli’s older brother, but Krithli was worth more than his life.
However, Krithli was sick. Krathra tried his best to cure her, as her health deteriorated every day. He searched for and brought back valuable medicinal herbs for Krithli. Unfortunately, none of them worked. Krathra desperately wanted to cure Krithli’s sickness; if it was necessary, he was even willing to sacrifice his soul. Then came the Spirits of Darkness.
The spirits promised elixirs, and Krathra signed a deal. As a result, the entire tribe was sent out for auction… There, he met an unusual demon named Randalph Bruciel.
“The master is different from other demons.”
Krathra was nervous at first. Demons were known to be selfish and exclusive. Randalph did not seem like he would easily hand over the elixirs.
Krathra thought that if Randalph found out about Krithli’s sickness, he would get mad. Therefore, he planned to keep the sickness secret and prove himself in front of the master instead. Once Randalph took him as his monster, he would swear allegiance for his master. Krathra would then try to request for the elixirs as a reward for his allegiance.
However, Randalph exposed their secrets immediately. He knew that the tribe was hiding important information. Randalph punished his tribe and threatened to bring “death” to them. Back then, Krathra could not help but despair.
However, Krathra was wrong again. Randalph ordered the Dark Elves to suppress their instincts and behave like dogs… There was no reason not to follow the order. Krathra doubted if the demon would keep his promise, but becoming a dog was better than Krithli’s death.
At that time, Krathra was grateful if the demon could just let the tribe live.
When the tribe followed the order, Randalph really gave them the elixirs. On top of that, he held the ritual with Krithli. He could not have imagined that a demon would hold a ritual with a Dark Elf. The chief of the tribe, Julium, was awed at such an unprecedented incident.
Of course, had Krithli refused to hold the ritual with Randalph, Krathra would have done everything he could do to stop the ritual. However, Krithli was wise enough to accept the offer. As a result, Krithli was cured, and she became one of the highest monsters that a Dark Elf could be in the dungeon. Randalph, the Dungeon Master, started to trust her, and the Dwarves, who were hostile to the Elves, could not take them lightly.
Furthermore, the demon was generous in complimenting his monsters’ work. He also guaranteed freedom. Randalph gained even more favor by naming the newborn twins, “Roy” and “Rose.” The Elves were touched and believed that Randalph did not treat his subordinates as mere “slaves.” They were ready to follow the demon to death… Now, the master had even added the Tree of Origin.
“Although we are of different races, I, Krathra, will follow my master to death.”
Krathra had traits similar to those of a knight. Such qualities enabled him to protect Krithli so far.
Furthermore, Krathra knew that protecting his master was the same as protecting his tribe. If another demon invaded the dungeon and killed Randalph, the Dark Elves would be the first to be executed.
“Everyone, spread out. Saman’s dungeon must be somewhere near. We must find it, and we must find it as soon as possible!”
When Krathra, riding Griffin, stretched his hands out, several Shades appeared, and dispersed in different directions.
“I don’t know if they had found it.”
I was working on changing the landscape of the dungeon when this thought popped up in my mind.
I moved Krathra, Griffin, and a few Shades to the dungeon in Japan and sent them on a surveillance mission in China. I ordered them to scrutinize China because I could not remember the exact location of Count Saman’s dungeon.
“It must be somewhere in China…”
I knew where the dukes and archdukes lived, but I did not care much about the counts. On top of that, Count Saman was also one of the many unknown counts out there. No wonder I could not remember the location of his dungeon.
The dungeon must be located somewhere in China. If I thought about my previous life, Saman always showed up somewhere near China.
Saman appeared not so long after the event started. And from such a short time, I could infer that he must have lived somewhere close. I hoped that Krathra could find his dungeon before the other demons did. Once the other demons find out that Saman was dead, they would start searching for Saman’s dungeon.
“Let me focus on transforming the landscape. I will change the twenty-sixth floor to a general area.”
I set and changed the landscape of the 20th floor into a sea, the 21st into a thunder area, the 22nd a hurricane area, the 23rd a snowstorm area, the 24th a death area, and the 25th a holy area. Finally, I changed the 26th floor into a combination of thunder, hurricane, and snowstorm areas. Then, a message window popped up.
[Great achievement! You have changed the landscapes of more than ten floors for the first time.]
[800,000 points will be given as a reward.]
[1,545 achievement points is rewarded.]
I had spent about two million points so far.
“I can set an area as a death area or a holy area.”
There were many options when it came to choosing a landscape. I found it interesting that I could set an area as either a death area or a holy area. Undead creatures would flourish in death areas while angels would grow normally in holy areas. Setting an area as a death or holy area required more than just changing the physical landscapes. One had to change the type of mana that was present in that particular area.
Above all, “holiness” was a type of force that one could not simply exchange with mana. I released a small amount of holiness onto the 25th floor. Perhaps the natures of holiness and mana were the same, and that was why it was possible to create holiness in the four altars.
Anyway… the amount of holiness was not much at the moment, but the angels would fill this space with more holiness as they grew.
“1,545 points.”
The amount of achievement points that I earned as a reward was not too bad.
Achievements were important. They were the only ways that one could earn a large amount of points or gain a title. When I found out about the Achievement Store, achievements became even more important.
“Since I added more landscapes, I might as well add more breeding species.”
It was a waste of time and effort to leave landscapes as they were. To make the best use of the landscapes, I decided to put species to different landscapes according to their traits, where they could easily reproduce or flourish. The faster the number of breeding species increased, the more economical it was. It would also be helpful to add breeding species when I had the points.
“I do not know when the Celestial World will decide to invade…”
I knew that when the Dimensional Gate was opened, I could not use any stores. Just like the last time, I could have lost my dungeon, had the number of monsters was small. Doom was at the doorstep.
“There is nothing like a Siren on the 20th floor, which is a sea. I want to add Krakens. However, if I want to add enough Krakens to reproduce, I have to spend all my points.”
Sirens were intermediate monsters of level three. The price of a single Siren was 5,800 points, and thirty Sirens were needed to reproduce. On the other hand, Krakens were high monsters of level four. Each of them cost 400,000 points. With my current budget, I could afford a few of them. However, if I wanted to have a herd of Kraken so that they could reproduce, I would need at least 12 million points.
“Thunder Bats will do for the 21st floor, which is the thunder area.”
Thunder Bats were intermediate monsters of level four. They were one level above the Sirens. The bats fed on thunders and emitted powerful “Lightning Breath” once in a while.
The 22nd floor was a hurricane area. There was nothing better than Wind Rides. They were intermediate monsters of level four, but the size of their bodies were small. They were about as big as an adult’s head. Despite their small size, Wind Rides were invincible in storms; they could adapt very quickly and easily to the fast winds.
Then I thought about the 23rd floor. Yetis were the right choice for this floor. In snow, they were as fast as Shabel Tigers.
The 24th floor was a death area. I added “Mother of Death” on that floor. They were very large and about two meters in length. They also continuously emitted poison from all parts of their bodies. Furthermore, Mothers of Death were queen ants. They could continuously produce larvae, which were about 50 cm in length and contained poison.
There was no need to add any monsters on the 50th floor. Angels and Tashumal would dwell on that floor.
I also did not put any monsters on the 26th floor, which was a general area.
When I added monsters to all the floors, an achievement window popped up.
[Unbelievable achievement! For the first time, you have released ‘reproducible numbers of’ ‘ten different species’ of monsters in changed landscapes.]
[1,000,000pt will be rewarded.]
[You have earned achievement points of 1,833.]
At first glance, I had spent a large amount of points on changing the landscapes and purchasing breeding species. However, the achievement points that I earned compensated for the loss. In the end, the net total that I had spent was slightly higher than two million points.
I still had about ten million points in my pocket.
“I guess this is good enough for the dungeon in Korea.”
I looked away.
Now it was time to leave for the dungeon in Japan.
**
[Significant achievement! For the first time, the number of Goblin anomalies has exceeded 100.]
[200,000pt will be rewarded.]
[You may receive 400 achievement points.]
As soon as I visited the dungeon in Japan, I received a notification that I had just accomplished an achievement.
“It seems that I have to physically visit a dungeon to complete achievements related to that dungeon.”
I nodded softly.
I had been expecting achievement messages related to the Japan dungeon to pop up, but I had not received any.
The long-awaited message window showed up.
Goblins were known for having a large chance of anomalies.
Perhaps such a high chance was the reason that the reward was mediocre. Getting rewarded was better than nothing…
“Master is here!”
Guyo welcomed me, flapping her wings.
“Is everything okay?”
I delegated most of my authorities, even the power to use points, to Guyo, so that she could maintain the dungeon in Japan during my absence. However, she did not spend much.
Guyo’s face turned dark.
“I wanted to do so many things, and it’s hard to choose…”
“Why don’t you turn most of the floors into mazes?”
“That is a good idea. However, changing the landscapes will cost a fortune.”
Guyo turned the first floor into a maze by herself. Now it was easier to hide treasures or install traps on the first floor than it was before.
I thought that changing the rest of the dungeon into a giant maze was a good idea. It seemed that awakened heroes in Japan found such exotic structures interesting.
Given the recently increased points earned in the Japan dungeon, it would be not bad to expand the maze on the first floor to the entire dungeon.
“There are no additional landscapes in mazes. One has to make his or her own. There might be some achievements related to transforming a dungeon into a maze.”
I was trying to kill two birds with one stone.
“Never mind. How far have the awakened heroes reached here?”
“They have come to the third floor.”
“They are pretty slow.”
All the floors in this dungeon were arranged in similar ways compared to those in the Korea dungeon. However, the progress of the awakened heroes here was a lot slower than that in Korea. The difference of progress meant that the awakened heroes in Korea were growing much faster than those in Japan.
“I want to expand the maze up to the fifth floor. You can design the maze.”
“Guyo can do whatever she wants to do?”
“Yes.”
“Wow…!”
Clapping her hands, Guyo looked delighted. Unlike Lyhee, whose hobby was rearing honey bees, Guyo had rather constructive hobbies. At least the honey water tasted good.
“I will try to add different landscapes or monsters.”
I started to develop the dungeon to accomplish more achievements.
**
[Welcome to the Achievement Store.]
[Your current achievement point is – 6,440.]
[You can use your achievement points to purchase items from the store.]
[You can only purchase one unit of items that have + marks in front of the label.]
I had spent a large amount of points.
In just two weeks, I had earned about 6,000 achievement points.
I lost half of my points, but I did not care.
“The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It makes sense.”
Anyway, I realized that the more points I used, the easier it was to increase my achievements. Achievements done in the Japan dungeon were counted separately. Such achievements were not the “first” achievements and did not offer many points as rewards. However, the fact that points for the different dungeons were counted separately was good news.
It meant that the more dungeons I had, the more achievement points I could earn.
Of course, accomplishing many achievements in different dungeons would cost a lot of points. However, such investments would pay off in the end. I could dare dream of earning 50,000 achievement points.
However, I did not plan on earning achievement points right now.
After looking through the list of items, I chose one item from the list.
At the same time, a window popped up.
[Would you like to purchase ‘Army of Malicious Commander?’]
