Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Episode 2. Easter Egg (4)
I don’t know how much time passed by.
“Ha…” I woke up and sighed deeply.
The blood pool around me was gone, along with the pain that had accompanied it. I felt like I was dreaming.
Lyhee was looking at me with a worried expression that made me realize this wasn’t a dream.
“Master! Are you ok?”
“How long was I out?”
“Three days now. Lyhee thought master was dead. You stupid… idiot…” Lyhee was crying her eyes out, and she hit me with her fist.
I had no time to take care of her. Although I felt dizzy, I tried to think of what happened before I passed out.
‘Level 3 Easter Egg. The Heart of Hell Lord.’ While I was looking at the reward list, the Heart of Hell Lord was planted in me. It had appeared out of nowhere and planted without my consent. I’d almost lost my body to it. But for an unknown reason, the soul of Hell Lord disappeared, and the heart synced with my body with excruciating pain!
‘What just happened to my body?’ I wondered. My physical condition was great…better than it had ever been. I moved around to feel my body.
‘Is it?…’
If something had changed, the status window would show me. I stopped and called it up right away.
First Name: Randalf Last Name: Bruciel
Occupation: Count of Devildom (Dungeon Master)
Title:
*Unbreakable Warrior (Exceptional Unique, all abilities +2)
Abilities:
Power 77(+2), Intelligence 63(+2), Speed 73(+2), Strength 80(+2), Mana 82(+2)
Potential(375+10/500)
Others: The Heart of Hell Lord has implanted. (Full power has not open yet)
Skill: Skill Combination(R), Mind’s Eye(U)
[Comparison]
Power 78 Intelligence 50 Speed 74 Strength 82 Mana 64 Potential(338+10/500) 2
Power 79 Intelligence 65 Speed 75 Strength 82 Mana 84 Potential(375+10/500)
“…Crazy,” I said in awe. I was surprised by my status.
My biggest problem had been Mana and Intelligence, but now they’d improved significantly. Intelligence 15, Mana 20… I couldn’t believe my own eyes. There was still more potential to improve.
With high Intelligence, I could learn everything much quicker, so I could improve my skills faster. I would be able to react better to a situation or a skill that brought a status error.
With high Mana, my skills would have stronger destruction power. Even if you have a great skill, if your Mana is low, your skills could be useless. It also gave you some charisma. I was born with low Intelligence and low Mana, so even though I’d tried to improve my abilities, it had been a struggle for me. Now, with the Heart of Hell Lord, I would be able to solve my fundamental problems. I could do even better with higher intelligence, but I was quite happy with it for now.
‘It was an unexpected present,’ I reflected
If I’d lost my body, that would have been a different story, but now my body was synced with the heart. People used to tell me that you couldn’t know what would happen next, and they were right.
I laughed idiotically.
‘The condition to open it was clearing a few achievements during the beginner protection period…’ The status window had scored my achievement out of the blue, so I had to assume that that was the condition.
Even the demon god who hid Easter eggs didn’t expect the Heart of Hell Lord to come out, and I had my reasons to believe that as well.
‘Apart from the Heart of Hell Lord, everything else on the list looked crappy. Is it really a level three reward?’
Well, it’d been a chance to get the Sword of Atasha, Horn of Magic Dragon King or a whole army of monsters, but the Heart of Hell Lord was a next-level reward. I couldn’t believe it was a level three reward, really.
‘Maybe it was a mistake in the system, or maybe the Hell Lord created a breach in the system…’ Sudden anxiety made me frown. ‘I doubt that they would take back what they gave me, right?’ The heart was already planted; if they took it away, it was clear that they would take my life with it.
I thought maybe the soul of Hell Lord was also attacked by the system of the demon god. Since the system had neutralized the side effect, the system wanted me to use it, right?
‘Anyways, I feel good.’
There were some doubts, but I became stronger and got the potential to become even stronger. It was a great yet very unexpected reward.
“Master?” When I smiled, Lyhee blinked her eyes and looked at me curiously.
After the Heart of Hell Lord incident, three days passed. I kept working on improving my dungeon and planning what to do next. Since I’d become much stronger, I had to reorganize my plans.
[Remaining points: 324,579]
‘I need more points.’ Looking at my remaining points, I wasn’t very happy. Last time I checked, I had 240,722pt. I spent 20,000pt to purchase my sword, then earned 100,000pt. So in total, I earned only 3,857pt during 20 days.
‘Humans are not strong enough to give me meaningful points,’ I decided. I had to find more ways to get points through achievements. That was the only way to get more quickly. 2
I needed to systemize my dungeon to train and have my own warriors. The golden goose was just a baby right now.
‘Oh well, the human that I saw had an okay potential.’ The human from a few days ago. Was his name Kim Yongwoo? He’d freaked out and wet his pants, but his potential was not too bad. I tried to remember his status window that I’d seen with my Mind’s Eye.
Name : Kim Yongwoo
Occupation: Hero(Warrior)
Title: N/A
Abilities:
Power 38, Intelligence 30, Speed 36, Strength 34, Mana 13
Potential(150/322)
Other: The Guild Master of ‘Guild of Heaven’s Will’.
Skill: Basic Swordsmanship(N)
That was a good level of potential among humans. If he reached his potential, he would be able to hunt most monsters by himself.
In my memories from my former life, he was not one of the famous humans. He didn’t have high potential in that regard, but other things on his status had caught my eye.
‘The Guild of Heaven’s Will. I think I’ve heard of it.’ I sat down and tried to remember. My memories weren’t horrible but also not very good. I couldn’t remember everything from my former life, but since the name ‘The Guild of Heaven’s Will’ rang a bell, I was sure I knew about it.
“Oh.” It took a bit of time to remember.
My dungeon was placed in the middle of Korea, on the peak of a mountain called Bukhan.
Size 21 kilometers, height 4733 meters…maybe. My dungeon was much bigger, but with humans’ eyes, that was approximately the size they could see.
Anyway, The Guild of Heaven’s Will was one of the top five guilds in Korea. It was only famous in Korea, and I’d had to wander around the world after losing my dungeon, so I hadn’t had a chance to encounter people from that guild. Even so, I still remembered the name because of the guild master of Heaven’s Will. The guild master, ‘the Queen of Thunder,’ was a famous Magician. She wasn’t one of the top ten human heroes, but devils and monsters had a hard time fighting her.
The Queen of Thunder was specialized in fighting against multiple enemies at once. When she hit the ground with thousands of claps of thunder, it was majestic and thrilling. She was always hiding behind her strong army to throw the thunder. When she detected danger, she would run away, riding her own thunder. I remember that one of the 12 dukes had been frustrated by her skills. She was remarkable and had outshone the guild behind her, so I couldn’t remember much about the guild itself.
‘Is he a new guild master?’ Kim Yongwoo was a guild master. I suspected there was some special event that changed the master of the guild.
‘There’s not much I can get from my dungeon now.’ The beginner protection period had come to its end. ‘It’s time for me to jump into the human world.’
I didn’t plan to stay and hide in my dungeon. Unlike my life before, I wanted to become stronger in an unimaginable way by mingling with humans.
It was an impossible method for devils because of the four archdukes. They had extremely strong pride. They believed in their power and wouldn’t do anything sly like sneaking among humans to create chaos. For more than ten thousand years, they didn’t even try anything like assassination but instead kept fighting their war.
They were almost impossible to be assassinated. Seventy-one devils, including me, were under one of four archdukes, and we couldn’t do anything against the archduke’s will.
If they decided to change things together, the earth wasn’t even a problem. It would have taken less than a decade to destroy the whole planet.
But the problem was they didn’t, and after time, human warriors became stronger and a huge challenge to the devils. Devils were divided into four tribes, but humans united well. A lot of devils ended up dead.
I started from the very bottom. I killed a count to take his place. I was an irregular; that means there was nothing that could stop me.
‘This is the perfect timing.’ During life before, I’d become famous quite quickly. I had no chance to do anything because everyone knew me. It was different in this life. I didn’t plan to let people know me as a dungeon master.
‘I will become a warrior.’ A devil warrior? It was a funny idea, but it wasn’t a joke. 1
I was planning to work as a warrior to handpick warriors with high potential while building up my reputation as well. Then, I’d make them raid the dungeons of other devils. I would control them while training myself and improving my dungeon. 1
It was a perfect tactic called ‘kill with a borrowed knife’. A lot of extraordinary warriors came out of Korea. It was a tiny country, but they had an unbelievable number of world-class warriors. I started to think of the names of those famous warriors.
After setting up a bit of a plan, I stood up. ‘Let’s go.’
It was time for me to step out into the real world.
