Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Episode 14. Where the Gods Fell (5)
“This is just terrible,” I couldn’t help but comment while going up through the levels of the dungeon.
Had this dungeon been this terribly organized in my former life as well?
This was so easy that it almost made me doubt whether this was the same dungeon of Adol that I had struggled with in my former life. This was a clear example of a poorly organized dungeon where the master had done nothing after summoning monsters. Random monsters were coming out from everywhere.
I didn’t have floor masters, so I understood that there were no floor masters here, but there seemed to be no leader monster at all. It really looked like Adol had just put monsters inside without any plan and let them wander around.
Had I lost my arm in such a poorly managed dungeon?
This really was such a poor excuse for a dungeon…
I started to grind my teeth in anger.
It had been a year and a half. This was the time for dungeon masters to manage their monsters in an organized dungeon, but his dungeon showed that Adol had no idea what to do or no will to do anything.
‘I’m sure other devils are starting to manage their dungeons to grow stronger.’
Adol. This dirty pervert must have forgotten about his task as soon as he had his dungeon.
If Adol was planning to neglect his dungeon, I would be doing him a favor by taking it over. He would be able to survive for ten years if he was lucky. In my former life, Adol was killed by awakened heroes.
Japanese awakened heroes weren’t growing as fast as those from other countries, because Adol didn’t take care of his dungeon or the country.
But now… I was there to change the game.
I would change everything and set things up properly.
“My Master. There are many Great Orc Warriors at the front.” Griffin flew low around me as Krithli told me about the front lines.
‘So stronger monsters instinctively took the higher floors? The monsters are becoming stronger as I go up.’
If a dungeon master was managing the dungeon, this couldn’t have happened.
Monsters were deserting their designated positions.
Stronger monsters wanted to be on the higher floors because of the Dungeon Core. Around the Dungeon Core, the Mana waves were stable, so it was normal to place strong monsters on the higher floors.
I nodded and told her, “Kill them all.”
On the 25th floor, I couldn’t see any high-level monsters, like Orc Lords. There were only mid-level monsters such as Orc Shamans, Great Orc Warriors, and Arc Goblins.
But I had nine high-level monsters and a top-notch monster, plus I was as strong as the top-notch monster, so the mid-level monsters standing in front of us were a joke.
Moreover, there were many monsters running away just after seeing us, which made me laugh because it was so silly.
This would have been an impossible scene if the dungeon master held real authority. Monsters were supposed to protect the dungeon from the intruders with their lives.
‘I really shouldn’t let him live.’
The first time was always the most difficult, while the second time was easy. If my monsters ran away from an enemy only because they looked strong, I would be deeply disappointed.
‘They’re not going to give me a lot of points though…’
The number of points that could be earned by killing monsters in other dungeons was very small, maybe a twentieth of the original price of the killed monster, but it was better than nothing.
“Shhhhhh!”
“Help…!”
More than a dozen of the Great Orc Warriors looked like paper puppets. The Dark Elves were able to handle them without any help from Griffin and the “great warriors” started to beg for their lives.
But I had already ordered them to be slain. Dark Elves who had already tasted blood wouldn’t let Orcs live.
I laughed in silence.
Adol was a pathetic and stupid creature for sure, but looking at my monsters smashing his dungeon wasn’t an unpleasant scene to watch.
‘By the way…’
I was curious for a second.
‘Adol, you didn’t even know that I was here until now?’
Even if Adol hadn’t noticed, the fairy of the Dungeon Core would have reported it to him without a doubt. It was impossible not to know, but he wasn’t showing any reaction, which made me wonder if he really had no idea.
‘Okay then.’
Approaching the Dungeon Core would let Adol know even if he was deaf and blind.
Anyway, I wasn’t far from the top floor, so time wouldn’t change how many monsters Adol could call in to fight against me.
“Krithli.”
Krithli answered my quiet call in the midst of a monster fight and climbed off of Griffin to approach me right away.
“Give me your order, Master.”
“Give me the ring to augment my voice.”
“Here it is, Master.”
She took the ring off of her finger and knelt down to hand me the ring with respect.
‘This is a bit much.’
While wearing the ring, I thought about how it always made me cringe when she called me “master” for some unknown reason.
When my monsters cleared up the monsters around us, I ordered them, “Everyone cover up their ears.”
My Dark Elves, Krathra, Krithli, Pyrok, Lychi, and the Golems covered up their ears. I think some of them didn’t even have to do that, but my Mana had such high authority that they had to follow my order. I started to breathe in.
And shouted out loud, “A-DOL!!”
Krrrrrung!
I used a full 90 Mana to shout out, my voice making the dungeon shake as if there had been an earthquake.
Claaaaang!
The dungeon was shaking. Although Adol had been having sex with over ten Orcs, he had to have felt something strange to stop his acts.
“What is this Mana?”
Guyo was shivering when he explained, “An intru-intruder…”
The intruder passed the 25th floor and reached the 26th floor now. There were less than ten floors between them, and the intruder seemed to know his way around. He was never hesitating to find the path to travel farther up.
The intruder would reach the top floor in less than half a day, so there wasn’t enough time to prepare.
“In my dungeon? But who?”
“He looks like a devil. He came with monsters.”
“So your mumbling about Griffin and the other things was true?”
“Yes, Master…”
Adol’s face showed rage.
“You useless piece of sh*t! Why didn’t you tell me earlier?!”
“I… I tried to tell you…”
Adol was doing this to torture Guyo.
Guyo had told Adol that there was an intruder more than a hundred times, yet Adol ignored Guyo’s words and kept enjoying his activities.
With a frown, Adol ordered Guyo, “Report me the details on the monster. No, no. Bring my crystal ball that shows the whole dungeon. Bring it.”
The crystal ball that showed every corner of the dungeon had cost 100,000 points, and it was the only useful thing that Adol had ever bought.
Even a dungeon master couldn’t really see all the details on intruders without this crystal ball, as the inside affair mode would only show the number of intruders.
Other than numbers, fairy power was needed to know the details, but as soon as Adol realized that Guyo was lying to him, he bought this crystal ball.
Guyo struggled to bring him the huge crystal ball.
Soon, Adol used his Mana to check the intruders.
“…They are?”
“Do you know them?”
“They look familiar.” A man and a woman, both in skull masks, with a Dark Elf with a red spear in front of them. Soon enough, Adol remembered their faces.
“Ahah! It’s the guy from the auction!”
The Auction of Devildom!
Krathra and Krithli had been sold during the auction.
And the guy who bought them both… Randalf Bruciel.
The devil who didn’t belong to any Archdukes and made Archduke Ufa angry.
It was impossible to forget his face.
“Too bad there’s no way to reach Ufa.”
Archduke Ufa shared the location of his dungeon only with his inner circle, who were Dukes. Low-level Count Adol had no chance to be in his inner circle.
In addition, devils weren’t really friendly with each other, so they never really shared any information.
That meant that Adol had to deal with this intruder by himself…
“Huh… Is that the real top-notch monster Griffin? There are eight high-level Golems and a Lychi? He did a great job collecting all of them, impressive!”
“What are you planning to do?”
It wasn’t really the time to be impressed by the opponent’s power.
If those monsters reached the top floor, they would destroy the Dungeon Core.
When Guyo looked anxious, Adol laughed at him.
“Pfft. I have many high-level monsters. Although there’s one top-notch monster, we outnumber them. It’s a winning game.”
The top-notch monsters were extremely rare, even in the Devildom.
It was almost impossible to catch a glimpse of them, while Griffins were the lowest monsters among top-notch ones. Adol believed that with his army of high-level monsters, he had the upper hand.
Adol looked into the crystal ball.
Randalf Bruciel…
‘When I catch you, Ufa will look at me differently.’
Because of him, other Archdukes laughed at Ufa, and Ufa would never forget such a thing. If he killed Randalf Bruciel that day and handed him to Ufa as a present, Adol would be at a higher social status right away.
“Guyo, call in all the high-level monsters. And bring ‘Onish’ as well!”
“Oh, Onish? He’s not yet stable. If he goes on a rampage, it would be difficult to control him…”
“I will handle him. He wouldn’t be able to act against the Mana of his dungeon master.”
Guyo understood Adol’s plan.
The order from the dungeon master was absolute power in the dungeon. Even Onish could be controlled by it.
Adol laughed, making a strange sound.
‘Although my hidden card is not a top-notch monster, it’s still strong enough. Randalf Bruciel! I will make you regret raiding my dungeon.’
Unlike Randalf Bruciel, Adol hadn’t used any of his points during the Auction of Devildom. He used most of his points to buy high-level monsters, and with his special skills, he had created a mutant ‘Onish’ as well.
It was a strong monster that would be comparable to a high-level monster at Level 5!
It had taken more than a year to create it, so Adol was certain that Onish would be able to defeat Griffin.
‘Now he’s moving.’
When I noticed that the monsters of the dungeon were moving differently, I smiled mockingly.
Finally, Adol was acting like a master of a dungeon. I was happy to see it and sped up to finally face him.
I was looking forward to seeing Adol again.
He had disappointed me so many times on my way here, but maybe he would be different now when we were face to face, which would give me a bit of satisfaction. I couldn’t wait to see the army that he had been hiding from me.
When I reached the 30th floor, I faced Adol with a monster army.
“Oh my god! Randalf? Randalf Bruciel!”
He acted like I was his long-lost friend.
There were around ten high-level monsters around him.
Six high-level monster Level-2 Orc Lords and two high-level monster Level-3 Giant Trolls. Behind them, there were a few thousand Orcs and a few dozen Trolls.
It was quite a strong army.
I moved my shoulders up and down and answered, “So you remember.”
“I remember the pathetic devil who was wandering around alone! Why don’t you make your oath to Archduke Ufa? I can tell him to take you if you wish?”
“Don’t worry about it. I know that you can’t even reach Ufa anyways.”
I knew Archduke Ufa enough to know. He wouldn’t have told a low-level devil such as Adol where his dungeon was hidden.
Adol lost his poker face, which confirmed that I was right.
“Huh! You have a suicide wish, don’t you? Or are you so confident because you have Griffin?”
Well, it was true that I was confident because I had Griffin. Griffin was the best monster to attack people or monsters. Without it, it would be difficult to deal with all those monsters, even with my high-level monsters.
“Do you still have more to say?”
“Don’t worry! But before we start, let me introduce you to my son, Onish.”
A strange-looking monster came out among Orc Lords and Giant Trolls.
It looked like… It was impossible to explain.
It was seven feet tall with wide wings that were almost the size of a Giant Troll and the savage face of an Orc. There was a long horn on its forehead and its back, plus there was a huge gargoyle wing on its right side.
I had never seen such a strange monster before.
I had to open my Mind’s Eye to understand the strange thing in front of me.
