Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 49
Chapter 49: Episode 14. Where the Gods Fell (2)
Where were the nearest dungeons to Korea?
They were placed in China and Japan. There were five dungeons in China.
But since China was a massive country, those dungeons were not very close to mine.
I needed to go at least a few thousand kilometers, which helped me to conclude that it would be better to go to Japan, although that meant I had to cross the ocean.
‘The devil who is under Archduke Ufa is running the Japanese dungeon. What was his name…was it Adol…?’
I started to think thoroughly.
I had to be careful with which dungeon I would raid for the first time.
A dungeon that was under Archduke Ufa…that was already not too bad.
Archduke Ufa had the most followers, but he didn’t really care about his devils. He was just a selfish one who started to kill his own devils to take points and dungeons when the war became intense.
It was because when a devil kills a devil, the killer could take over the dungeon of the victim and took the victim’s remaining points as well.
Moreover, the killer could take the points from the victims’ dungeons as well.
Well, this was information that would be revealed after five years, but when it was revealed, Archduke Ariel was disgusted by the act of Archduke Ufa, and she destroyed him with a frontal attack. No need to mention that it was a fierce battle.
It was possible for Archduke Ariel to win only because the two other Archdukes, Pandemonium and Oculus, were being careful and reluctant to intervene. If one of them decided to intervene to destroy both, Ufa and Ariel should have been completely destroyed.
Anyhow…
The most important thing in this situation was that it was very possible that Archduke Ufa didn’t even know the existence of Count Adol in Japan.
Archduke Ufa really didn’t care about small people like a count, not to mention that he wouldn’t take care of anyone lower than duke.
‘I should kill Count Adol.’
My objective was clear.
‘If I expand now, I will be able to collect all the jades from the Auction of Devildom for at least two years. I didn’t have a plan for this, but this should be fine.’
I couldn’t guarantee to take the upper hand only with a handful of high-level monsters and other monsters that I’d got from the altar. Other devils were not able to collect enough points for the auction, but they used their points to fortify their dungeons.
On the other hand, I was all-in for the auction while neglecting my dungeon.
Even if I defeat Adol, the damage would be quite huge.
By defeating Adol, I would be able to get a new Dungeon, but if I lost my high-level monsters, Chrisrah and Krithli, I would have to spend a few years recovering from that damage.
Now, since I’d gotten the top-notch monster Griffin, I didn’t have to worry about it too much.
Griffin was specialized in personal attacks; it would be very useful when taking over Adol’s dungeon.
‘I’ve explored his dungeon once in my former life.’
When I lost my own dungeon, I headed to the nearest dungeon, which was in Japan.
I still remember all the layout of the dungeon.
‘It is clear…he was a disgusting devil for sure.’
There were not many same devils under Archduke Ufa anyways, and Adol was one of those insane devils.
His hobby was to have sexual intercourse with low-level monsters such as Orcs or Kobolds. He was a pervert enough to enjoy making Orcs wearing strange lingerie, and when monsters gave birth to mutants, he enjoyed bringing up these mutants. He was clearly not normal.
It was not out of some maternal love or anything like that; he just wanted to have sex with some distorted monsters. His lust was rather disgusting.
Just thinking about him made me frown.
Although he was a devil like me, I just didn’t want to have anything to do with him.
That was Count Adol in a nutshell.
‘There will be a lot of monsters of the Orc species. Griffin must be the nemesis for them.’
I tried to recall memories from my former life.
If I got the rest of high-level monsters from the altar and then spent my points to summon a few more high-level monsters, it wouldn’t be too difficult to take over Count Adol’s dungeon.
It would take a bit of time to cross the ocean and go to Japan, but I had a plan.
‘Anyway, I was planning to do this in the near future.’
The schedule had been changed, but my goal was clear and unchanged.
I started to prepare my attack to take over Count Adol’s dungeon with excitement.
***
Fire, ice, earth, and wind Golems.
It took a little more than two months to search the altar to get a set of every kind of Golem.
During that time, I collected 250,000 more points to have 410,000 points in total to buy a high-level monster, an ‘Island Turtle’.
Island Turtle was a peculiar monster that was smaller than a Golem on the ground, but when it was in the water, it became a size of a small island.
It had nothing more than its size and defensive power, so I didn’t have to pay more than 110,000 points for it.
I was planning to use it as transportation for my monsters.
I was browsing to find the best way to spend my remaining 30,000 points and finally decided to buy Lychi.
Lychi was a high-level monster, and it was as useful as Griffin when it came to a mass killing.
‘Lychi…its skill to use dead bodies is quite outstanding.’
With more dead bodies, Lychi became stronger.
It could explode dead bodies or move the dead bodies for a short amount of time. It had many other minor yet useful skills.
That was the end of my preparation.
I started to list up the monsters I was planning to use to attack Count Adol’s dungeon.
Chrisrah and Krithli.
40 Dark Elves.
4 Pyroks.
A set of Golems of 4 different types. 8 in total.
1 Lychi.
1 Griffin!
I excluded Dwarves because they were busy making a town on the seventh floor and the Island Turtle because it was just transportation. Anyway, those wouldn’t be very useful during the attack.
The best way to take over a dungeon was to use quality, not quantity. It was better to bring a selected force. My army was strong enough to burn down half of the Republic of Korea to the ground.
Griffin was taking a huge part of the force, but anyways, I finished my plan and nodded to myself.
***
Bump!
8 Golems were the first ones to leave the dungeon.
They were huge and at least 10m tall.
Burning Fire Golem and Ice Golem were made of unmelting ice.
Earth Golem looked like a chunk of clay, and Wind Golem was made of windblast.
Lychi was in a black cape, and four Pyroks that looked like a small size dragon apart from their wings of bats followed the Golems. Behind them, Chrisrah, riding Inferno, was leading 40 dark elves.
Above them, Krithli was on a gigantic bird. Griffin started to circle around the army of monsters. That scene dropped the jaws of the soldiers who were guarding around the dungeon.
It was on the next level compared to the first monster wave with some low-level monsters.
The soldiers instinctively felt that they couldn’t really touch those horrible monsters.
“…Should…should we attack?”
When snipers asked the commanders, even the commanders couldn’t dare to command the attack.
What should we do?
It was clear they would fight back if the army initiated the attack.
The damage from the first monster wave was huge, so there were a lot of soldiers guarding around the dungeon.
They were good enough to fight some minor monsters, but the monsters in front of them were beyond their imagination.
Then, suddenly someone shouted out, “That…that is Lychi. It annihilated a few hundreds of awakened heroes and a few thousands of soldiers in France! I’ve seen it on the video. That’s Lychi!”
“What? Lychi?”
“What, the…the monster from the monster wave that French people called the ‘day of nightmares’?”
“I heard the French army had to bombard it with nuclear weapons to neutralize it…”
The soldiers were shaken up.
They were terrified that one of the monsters was Lychi.
Lychi was one of the monsters that appeared in the French monster wave.
Although France was prepared for the monster wave, hundreds of awakened heroes and thousands of soldiers had died during the monster wave.
It wouldn’t be easy, yet not impossible, to fight against other monsters, but Lychi was the biggest trouble. Lychi was able to use dead bodies to activate its skills, and it was immune to all kinds of attacks.
It was a well-known story that the French army had no choice but to use countless nuclear weapons to kill it.
“…should we…attack?”
“Wait. I’m thinking!”
It was not easy to decide what to do.
Initiating the attack would be the end of his army, but if not, those grotesque and fearful monsters would attack the city.
That would create a much bigger disaster compared to the first monster wave.
That was something the commander had to avoid with any cost.
There was no choice for them.
“Shit. Load the weapons!”
“Load the weapons!”
Tanks started to aim at the massive monsters coming out from the dungeon.
“Request back up! We need to keep them as long as possible!”
Everyone looked determined.
The army force here was more than enough to stop monsters from the first monster wave, but it was far from enough to stop a wave with Lychi.
They were determined to earn enough time to wait for the backup force to arrive.
It was a state of war, and the US army force could be mobilized for the operation. They thought if they could earn enough time, the US army would come to help them.
Bam! Kaboom!
With a sign, all the firearms attacked the monsters.
“Poor humans…”
The monster commander Krithli didn’t seem to be bothered by the attack at all.
This kind of weak attack couldn’t damage the high-level monsters at all.
Krithli lightly tapped Griffin. Then Griffin suddenly turned its head around and breathed in as if it was trying to suck in everything around it.
Whing!
Whaaaaaak!
It was fire and lightning of Epic level skill!
Griffin breathed out a skill that was covering a broad area and that almost looked like a breath from a magical dragon.
As soon as it was touched by the fire and lightning, everything, including tanks, evaporated in the blink of an eye.
After Griffin finished using its skill, the scene was disastrous.
Scorched and devastated was the only way to describe the scene!
“Huaaaa…!”
The surviving soldiers plopped down on the ground.
The soldiers who were standing next to them simply evaporated. There was half of a body, a huge crate…the scene made them think that it was a natural disaster that was out of human control.
That was the power of the top-notch monster Griffin.
Griffin needed one attack to kill the fighting spirit of the army.
The city of Seoul declared a state of emergency.
The city ordered people to evacuate, and a dozen fighter aircraft were flying above the city.
There were a lot of tanks gathered in the city, but the situation was quite grim.
A few reporters were risking their lives to broadcast the situation, but they couldn’t find any other words than ‘the end’ to describe the situation.
“Monsters are attacking us. The brave Korean army is trying to stop them…but, they are too strong.”
“Is this the end of the Republic of Korea?”
“The time of arrival from the US army is not confirmed. We wish for the safety of our army.”
Everyone stopped what they were doing and started to watch the TV.
All they could do was pray.
Griffin’s fire and lightning made everything evaporate, and there was nothing that could fight against Golems. The Dark Elf on Pyrok made fighter aircraft as useless as paper airplanes.
It looked impossible for the army to fight against them.
When everyone thought it was impossible to stop the monsters,
the reporter who was broadcasting the scene on a helicopter started to shout out loud, “Ah! I can see awakened heroes. Awakened heroes are here!”
The camera crew quickly turned the camera.
There was a group of people running toward the monsters on the screen.
‘Now we are getting into this.’
I smiled.
I was on the front, and a few hundred awakened heroes were gathered behind me.
