Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 46
Chapter 46: Episode 13. Story of a Dungeon Fight (2)
Bang! bang!
The sounds of guns echoed through the mountains.
The smell of blood and gunpowder filled the air.
“You sons of bitches!”
Rat-a-tat-tat!
A machine gunner started spraying bullets at goblins, who were feasting on meat inside of armed vehicles.
He was able to kill a few of those who were not paying attention, but that was about it.
Monsters do not fear death at all.
When a soldier walked up to the front, that was the end of him.
Goblins, who were unafraid of death, struck the soldier from all sides like a swarm of bees.
“Ahhh!”
After that, everything was over quickly.
The sharp teeth of a goblin ripped off half of the soldier’s face, and the pale brain of the soldier was spilled. The soldier died instantly. The scene was so terrible that the dead soldier was fortunate to avoid being eaten alive.
AIEEE!
At the same time, something penetrated the forehead of the goblin who was biting the fallen soldier’s neck as if it was hungry.
Hundreds of bullets that obliterated the goblins soon followed.
A group of soldiers appeared by the corpse, spraying bullets.
“Fucking monsters!”
The soldiers frowned at the disgusting sight.
Some still had leftover vomit near their mouths. They had seen many similar or more disgusting sights on the way.
They were outnumbered and terrified by monsters who did not fear death!
All of the garrisons near Bukhan Mountain were being attacked. None of the garrisons responded or could be reached. The silence hinted that all of them were in more or less the same situation.
Soldiers who had barely survived the attack fired back at goblins with the remaining grenades and bullets in the arsenal, but they were overpowered and had no spare lives.
The longer the battle went on, the more monsters appeared. In the end, only about ten out of a hundred fifty soldiers survived.
There were shadows of defeat on the men’s faces.
“Captain, is everything okay?”
“Fuck! Do you think I’m okay? Get the wounded soldiers! We will take them and start moving right now!”
Who would have known?
There still might be more monsters around in this area.
They would have no hope if they ran into orcs. After all, there were only about ten men left. They might not be able to handle many orcs, if any at all.
They were about to start moving with the wounded.
There is a saying that went, ‘whatever that can happen will happen…’
Huff. Huff.
“Fuck….”
The captain cussed out loud as he heard the breathing of the orcs, which he’d become very familiar with during his military training.
Kim Gunsam found himself at a 7-Eleven convenience store near Bukhan Mountain National Park, which is located in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu of Seoul.
Kim Gunsam, who was eating leftover triangle kebabs in the convenient store, gulped and spoke as he glanced at the woman in short pants and a silver blouse who just entered the store.
“Welcome~”
The woman coldly ignored Kim Gunsam and walked toward the sanitary pads aisle. Kim Gunsam rubbed his nose, awed.
‘Wow! Her booty is damn so fine!’
The woman’s short pants made her round buttocks stick out even more. He couldn’t help but stare at them.
‘Is she a hooker? Thanks to cheap rent around this area, I see these kinds of women a lot. Hehe…’
The rent and real estate plummeted after the dungeon was created near Bukhan Mountain.
Kim Gunsam did not want to work at a convenience store because it was located so close to the dangerous dungeon. However, the pay was very good, so he decided to work there anyway.
His thoughts changed after working at the store for a few days.
If he changed his point of view, this place could be an oasis.
There were red-light districts nearby the convenience store and the park. Women who worked in the districts rented cheap rooms and often visited the convenience store.
The woman chose a type of pad called ‘Good Feeling’ and confidently put it on the counter.
Then she looked at Kim Gunsam coldly.
‘She has got an attitude.’
She was sexy for sure, but she seemed to have a strong personality.
Kim Gunsam spoke as he coughed out loud.
“Hmm, hmm! That’s 8,000 won. Would you like a plastic bag for these items?”
“I will pay it with the stare bill.”
“What did you say?”
“My ass, you were staring at it, did you not?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Miss!”
Caught off-guard, Kim Gunsam tried to back away.
‘How did she know that I was staring at her butt without even turning her head?’ he wondered.
He denied it even though he was feeling unscrupulous.
The woman stared at Kim Gunsam. “Do you want to check the CCTV? You looked at my ass!”
Why was she making such a big deal out of glancing at her ass?
‘Is she on her period?’ he mused.
Seeing that he was in trouble, Kim Gunsam tried to make an excuse, but at that moment, he was stunned at the sight across the glass window.
“Hey!”
“M, mon…”
“What are you saying?”
Ughh. Kim Gunsam pointed at the window with his index finger, his body shaking.
The woman frowned and turned her head. She showed a similar response to Kim Gunsam’s.
“Ah….”
“Monsters!!”
Where their stares met, hundreds of monsters were passing by.
A monster wave.
It is a term that encompassed anything related to a large number of monsters escaping dungeons.
Monster waves had taken place in several countries around the world in the past, and Korea was the fifth country where the wave took place.
Thanks to the sacrifices of soldiers stationed near dungeons, people were able to defeat large numbers of monsters in advance, but they were still overpowered by monsters in the end.
Monsters came down from Bukhan Mountain and immediately attacked Gangbuk-gu and Eunpyeong-gu.
An evacuation order was announced after the presence of monsters was known, but Ui-dong, Suyu-dong, and Galhyeon-dong received tremendous and devastating damage.
In fact, a lot of people were concerned about the monsters long before they became a problem.
It was very foreseeable that cities close to dungeons would be devastated if a monster wave took place.
However, the media and government disillusioned the public, saying that they should trust soldiers and that monsters were helpless outside of dungeons. Many people who were bound by different interests and properties firmly believed the words.
The military, which was supposed to arrive at sites immediately after monster waves started, took too long to respond.
The military could not take active measures because the location where the monster wave took place was at the center of Seoul, a hub of economy, culture, and transportation.
As a result, the reported casualties were about 1,732.
The number went above two thousand if those who were heavily wounded and missing were counted.
People were able to defeat the monsters that escaped the dungeon, but the higher-ups would have to deal with the terrible aftermath, which was causing them headaches.
‘So that’s why it was I chose to attack the dungeon.’
Relaxed, I was looking at the site from the top floor of the dungeon.
I was so relaxed as though I was watching at a hologram of a dungeon.
The proud military came in boldly without a single awakened hero. Such fools.
The mana waves spread strongly inside of dungeons.
Mana was the intrinsic shape, the fundamental power.
It was far from the modern civilization that mankind had made. No modern tools or weapons worked because they ate away the fundamentals. Even if some of them did, their powers were reduced significantly.
The awakened heroes were free from mana waves, but it was much more efficient for him or her to use weapons that fit the waves instead of modern tools or weapons.
Now they were attacking the dungeon with the military that had only normal humans?
I snickered.
‘I can’t get any points even if I kill normal humans…’
I could only get points by terminating awakened heroes. Although demons and monsters from other dungeons also gave points, if I only counted humans, the awakened heroes were the only choice.
The only thing that I could gain by massacring normal humans was contribution.
Doomsday contribution.
I can also get an achievement and title if I massacred about one hundred million people.
I chose to kill demons instead, so I was not very interested in contribution. In order to kill one hundred million people, the entire population of Korea would not be enough. It was very cumbersome.
It was a hundred times better to use as a nursery.
‘I would rather give them to Krithli as a present. The number will be large, and it will be useful to convert them to undead beings.’
Rubbing my chin, I decided the fates of those who entered the dungeon.
When they died, monsters would feed on them anyways. It seemed much better to use them to increase the undead creating proficiency.
It was recycling.
‘However…it does not feel good that my dungeon is being ignored.’
The military that did not respond to North Korea’s provoking invasion soon after a monster wave. What did that mean?
They were looking down on me.
It was understandable to an extent because they had only fought five thousand weak monsters…
‘I cannot help but to welcome them as the owner of dungeon.’
Of course, I would not greet them myself.
I did not like to show myself officially.
Is it necessary for the owner of the dungeon to confront an army of mere normal humans?
We were in different leagues.
It was completely different from when awakened heroes invaded. I’d commanded low monsters to fight in the beginning.
After a moment of thought, I mustered Krathra and Dark Elves.
I did not call Dwarves. They needed to take care of the Pyrocs.
I also moved twenty Mud Golems and thirty Puppets, whom I assigned as safeguards of the fifth floor for the reproduction of Harpies.
Thump.
Thump.
Twenty Mud Golems, who were four meters tall and weighed about two tons, were moving in a single-file line.
They had weapons that were made of hardened mud and refined with alchemy and magic.
They were not as strong as intermediate monsters, but no low monsters could equal them.
On the sides, thirty Puppets, who were made out of various metals and whose shapes were like humans but whose entire bodies were weapons, were moving towards the first floor, following the command of their master.
On each shoulder of Mud Golems stood a Dark Elf. They wielded daggers and bows.
Their arrows were faster than the eye could follow, and their daggers were bringers of death if swung in the dark.
On top of that, inside of dungeon, Dark Elves are invincible to humans.
There were forty of them.
“Stop!”
Krathra sat on top of Inferno, a horse made of fire!
Krathra was in its original form without the magic earring.
His eyes were burning with determination.
‘I received Inferno. That means to destroy the enemy with unparalleled power!’
The Dungeon Master had lent him Inferno.
He did not command it explicitly, but he implicitly commanded me to wipe out the enemy as a general.
Krathra had experienced being a human for a short period of time, and he knew their physical powers were terribly weak. He did not think that humans could beat their army even if they used tools.
Tactics? Strategies?
No need for them.
Head-to-head!
I will destroy them completely.
Krathra and his army were on the first floor. Through scouts, they confirmed that the enemies were 500 meters in front of them.
Krathra held his red spear up high.
“The enemies are in front of us. We shall crush the men making dirty footsteps! They are large in number but weak! We are destined to destroy them!”
The eyes of Dark Elves were filled with joy.
They had come to Devildom.
In this world, the strong took all.
The weak must suffer here.
Although Dark Elves were weak and arrived here after the contract, they wanted to prove themselves this one time.
How joyful it was!
Holding out his spear, Kratha kicked Inferno’s belly.
Neigh!
Inferno charged forward.
Kratha cried out loud.
“Leave none alive!”
