Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Episode 7. Dungeon Enhancement (1)
Leaders of Kobolds and Goblins.
There had been nine of them, but now there were only five left.
Four of them died during the fight, and less than half of the 1700 monsters were left.
The fight was that intense.
I was the one who took care of all the awakened heroes, but my promise was something I had to keep.
I calculated who did best and gave more female monsters to the group that killed the most heroes.
The freshly summoned female Kobolds and Goblins were confused and scared, but the monster leaders didn’t really worry about that. They counted their numbers and put them into their group.
“Krrr! Dungeon Master! Thank you!”
“We make more Kobolds! Strong Kobolds!”
“I do best. I don’t need to be alone now!”
The last one was the most stupid, but it was still alive.
I sent them off and checked the points I’d earned.
[Remaining points : 1,174,357]
Looking at the status window, I touched my chin with satisfaction. I wanted to have around a million points before the Auction of Devildom started, and I was able to make it thanks to this little event.
‘So this is the power of advertisement…’
Honestly, I didn’t expect awakened heroes from other countries to come in. I put treasures in my dungeon and let people know because I just wanted to farm Korean heroes and give them the chance and motivation to improve themselves.
It seemed like my treasure was more popular in other countries.
Unexpected surprises were always the best present.
I massaged my temple to think.
‘Should I make a little more investment?’
It was not a bad idea, I thought.
At this point, a million points was an enormous amount of points to have. Well, no, actually, even in my former life, it was an astounding amount of points to have.
It was an amount that could summon the monster of the highest level, Griffin. Although Griffin was the lowest-level monster in his league, the flame and thunder that it breathed from its mouth were as strong and destructive as a natural disaster.
If I put it out in this world where people had only low-level awakened heroes, more than a million people would be killed. It would destroy a small country, easily.
I was sure there was no devil who had a million points on the side. That meant I would have the upper hand during the auction.
Apart from the Krathra that I wanted to buy, I would be able to get more from the auction. I thought it wasn’t a bad idea to use a little more points to improve my dungeon.
‘So I used around 40,000pt to hide treasures in my dungeon. I should use 60,000pt more…I should let guilds other than Heaven’s Will find hidden items. None of the guilds want the Guild of Heaven’s Will to take the lead, so they will compete quite fiercely.’
Kim Yongwoo told me that four huge guilds were recruiting attack units to raid the dungeon.
If those guilds got in to make this play bigger, I would be the one who would get the most benefits at the end of the day.
There would be a lot of Korean awakened heroes killed during the process, but I had to hit this sweet spot as many times and as fast as possible.
It was collateral damage.
‘Before any devils learn about my plan…before they learn what I’m trying to do and mimic me, I need to take all the heroes I can.’
The seventy-two dungeons were all different depending on the characteristics of the Dungeon Master.
It was relatively new, so I was sure that other dungeon masters were keeping their guard high.
They were slowly realizing how important the points were and planning to train their own awakened heroes.
It was possible that my dungeon would be their role model.
So, I needed to make the best out of it before they started.
I planned to lure awakened heroes in my dungeon with all sorts of treasures.
It was not just some items; I was planning to hide all sorts of gold and jewelry.
“Ah~ I’m tired! There were a lot of heads that I had to count.” Lyhee was pretending that she was wiping up sweat on her forehead.
After the fight, I gave her the duty to count the heads of awakened heroes from the monster leaders.
Because of that, Lyhee was exhausted. the numbers didn’t really match, so I asked her to do it over again a few times.
I was sure she was saying that for me to hear.
I laughed and asked her, “Lyhee, did you say that you were decorating the garden?”
Huh!
Lyhee was a bit surprised.
Lyhee was not doing her job and decorating the garden, so it was necessary to ask her and make her talk about it. If not, she would pretend this was her own world and do whatever pleased her.
“Ly…Lyhee thought it was a good idea. The… the world is different now. Lyhee thinks the dungeon has to be beautifully and nicely decorated. A dark and sad dungeon doesn’t suit my Dungeon Master’s class! My Dungeon Master is a great guy, so his dungeon has to be great as well!” Lyhee was stuttering, but she told me why she was working on the garden.
I shook my head. “I wasn’t blaming you.”
“…Huh, really? You aren’t going to punish me?”
Lyhee’s eyes became huge, and her recoiled wing started to move again.
Just a second ago, she was trying her best to hide her faults, but now she was completely different.
She was so predictable.
I wouldn’t say Lyhee was smart, but she was much better than the leaders of the Kobolds and Goblins.
I thought they would have a very similar level of intelligence, but actually, Lyhee was the smart one among them.
That was almost shocking in a way, but I decided to put that thought aside and made a dry cough before asking her, “Hmm! Can you make it impossible for monsters to get into the garden?”
“Of course. You are talking about setting up a safety zone, right? It wouldn’t be huge, but that’s something Lyhee can set up. Lyhee will be very sad if the monsters ruin the garden I decorated.”
A safety zone setting.
I’d heard of it before but never done it myself.
Now that I thought about it, it would be necessary.
A place where awakened heroes could rest without worries would be a great foundation for the heroes to stay in the dungeon and train themselves.
I had enough points; it was time for me to enhance my dungeon.
“First, I need to check the garden you’ve been talking about.”
“Huh? No, it’s not done yet.”
“No. I want to see it first.”
“But…” Lyhee looked like she was about to cry.
She had no confidence at all to show her garden to me.
I didn’t change my decision.
When I looked at her without moving, Lyhee looked like she gave up, and her shoulders dropped. “Okay. Follow me, Dungeon Master, but don’t expect too much.”
“Okay.”
I didn’t have any expectations anyways.
Lyhee made pouty lips and murmured, “You can have a bit of expectation though.” Of course, I ignored her.
I followed Lyhee to see the garden.
The third floor was way too huge to just walk around.
It was better to use a transportation magic square.
On every floor of the dungeon, there were transportation magic squares for the Dungeon Masters.
The squares were invisible to humans; only the Dungeon Master and the fairy of the Dungeon Core would see them. Without the transportation magic squares, people had to walk around the huge dungeon on foot.
That was a horrible thing to even think about.
‘The dungeon looks a few dozen times smaller from the outside. My dungeon looks like it is placed on Bukhan Mountain and no bigger than the mountain, but they struggle once they walk in,’ I reflected.
Even so, the dungeon looked quite huge from outside.
Size 21km, Height 4733m.
It was the size of a big city, almost the same size as the Republic of Nauru on the northeast side of Australia.
The height was 4700m, which was two times higher than the Bakdu mountain.
That wasn’t the real size of the dungeon once you walked in. It was much bigger.
Walking around that size territory would be insane.
There were a lot of awakened heroes who estimated the size of the dungeon but ending up starving to death. Also, no modern technology worked inside the dungeon, so a lot of heroes were lost inside.
Zing-!
When I stepped on the transportation magic square, red light covered me up.
I was able to see I had moved to another place.
We had moved to where Lyhee wanted to take me to.
Ching-!
Ching-!
The hammering sound welcomed me as soon as I arrived.
‘…This is massive.’
The scene almost overwhelmed me.
First, I was able to see five Dwarfs hammering something.
Lyhee had the right to organize the environment in the dungeon, and she was able to share that right with others. Building up a building was not an easy task for Lyhee to do by herself, so it was common for the fairy of Dungeon Core to use Dwarfs.
The problem was the look of the garden.
It was not a garden; it was rather a strange structure that Lyhee was building.
It looked like a palace, but it looked like shit as well.
No, it was literally in the shape of shit.
When she’d said ‘garden’, I’d imagined that it would be a green field with a small cottage, but Lyhee had just exceeded my imagination, not in a very positive way.
“Sister Lyhee is here?” a Dwarf asked.
“Huh? Sister Lyhee is here? Where?”
“She is with a guy?”
It seemed like Lyhee had made us visible to the Dwarfs. When Lyhee appeared, five Dwarves stopped their work and ran toward us.
‘Sister Lyhee?’
Her title was very strange.
When I saw Lyhee’s overly confident face, I was able to understand the situation.
“You guys! Did you work hard on what Lyhee told you to do?”
“We did!” The Dwarfs stood in front of Lyhee in a row and answered simultaneously.
Lyhee still looked very strict and overly confident.
She put her hands on her waist asked them, “Why isn’t it done yet?”
“We didn’t have enough time…”
“Also materials…”
“That’s your excuses! If you don’t have enough time, you should try to make it! Sleep less, eat faster. I have told you that already so many times, right?”
She would have been one of the worst business owners if she was doing this in the human world.
A Dwarf protested, “Sister Lyhee, it is just impossible.”
“Forgive us. We didn’t eat anything today.”
“This way, we will die before finishing it.”
Lyhee shouted at them, “You guys are still having a comfortable life, right? Anyways, I needed some food for the Orcs these days. I guess you want to become their meal.”
“But… that’s…”
The Dwarfs looked very desperate but decided not to speak anymore.
Their hands were covered with scars and scratches. It rarely happened to Dwarfs, so that meant they were really working hard.
“Lyhee. Stop it.”
I had to stop her cruelty.
It seemed like Lyhee was very strict when she managed others.
Lyhee clapped and told the Dwarfs, “Oh, show your respect to him! This is your Dungeon Master. Your real master! You should show respect to him more than what you do to Lyhee. Okay?”
“Wow! Dungeon Master!”
“Respect. Don’t you understand? You really want to die?”
“Ma…master!”
The Dwarfs bowed down to reach the ground with their foreheads.
That made me speechless for a second.
The Dwarfs looked miserable, which made me understand how their life was until now. They were looking at Lyhee as if she was a dreadful monster.
“…Stand up.”
“No! We don’t deserve having eye contact with our great Dungeon Master.”
“Even if you stand up, I’m not on your eye level. So stand up.”
“Ah. That…that is true.”
Dwarfs were tiny. They were bigger than fairies, but they would only reach my belly button. Even if they stood up, there was no way they could have natural eye contact with me.
The Dwarfs understood and stood up, terrified by looking at me.
I had to click my tongue and asked them, “What are you trying to construct?”
The representative of the Dwarfs that was standing in the middle answered, “Lyhee told us It was a resort for the Dungeon Master.”
It looked like shit but it was a….resort.
I didn’t have to ask if Lyhee had designed this. It was simply clear that it was her.
I always wanted to have a look at Lyhee’s brain, if she had a physical form.
I doubted that she had a brain…
“How long do you think you need?”
The Dwarf tried to read Lyhee’s countenance.
“If…if we have materials, we only need five days.”
“That is quick.”
“I can make things better than anyone else.”
They really looked confident.
I nodded. “I will make the scale of the construction slightly smaller, and start by having five per floor. I can give you one month. Tell Lyhee how many Dwarfs and materials you need. I will make sure that you don’t need to work this hard and that you have better conditions.”
“R…really?”
“You will get three meals a day, and 10 minutes of break every hour. You will be able to sleep at least six hours a day.”
I thought that if I didn’t, all the Dwarfs would be dead soon.
I knew it was not generous at all, but they looked like my offer was a very good one compared to their current working conditions. I was providing the minimum needs for them to survive.
“Oh! Dungeon Master! My precious master!”
“Amen. We believe in you!”
They burst into tears thanking me.
It was not crocodile tears but real ones from sincere gratefulness.
They cried out loud until they couldn’t stand anymore.
I gave a look at Lyhee.
I asked her, `What have you done to them until now?’ with my eyes, but Lyhee turned her head around and hummed as if she didn’t understand.
