Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 211
Chapter 211: Chapter 66. Gustarte (3)
Gustarte, the Wizard of the Moon, was a god after all, and he was very powerful.
Others called gods with many different names, such as ‘immortal’, ‘deity’, ‘the one’, and so on.
No mortal would dare fight a god. Even if one did, there was no way that they would defeat a god.
However, a mortal was now in control of Gustarte. As a result, not only was this god unstable, but he also had lost almost half of his consciousness. In other words, he had become what was similar to a demigod. A god was a god only if they could be in possession of their full selves.
Since Gustarte was demoted to almost a demigod, he was somewhere in between a mortal and an immortal. That meant that immortals could challenge him now.
Gustarte’s whereabouts were known, and Krithli moved to that location with a group of strongest monsters, which consisted of the highest monsters and high monsters with great mobility.
When all of the archdukes appeared at the Royal Observatory, Krithli executed the plan.
At that moment, Gustarte was with a demon, Count Rakikan.
He was one of the most trusted demons of Ufa, and his army of monsters was very powerful.
“I will block all the mana connected outside,” Krithli told me.
She took out a small bottle. Then the dark elf opened the lid and scattered the powder on the ground.
The powder dispersed in all directions and disappeared. Shortly after, the particles created a thin wall, which was invisible. The length of the wall reached dozens of kilometers.
“If I use my mana, the wall will last for three hours. We need to decoy Gustarte in three hours.”
“Let’s do this. We can do this!”
Titan was the first to respond to Krithli. Then, about a hundred monsters standing next to Titan rolled their feet, responding to Krithli as well. Hydra was one of them.
Krithli raised her cane.
The dark elf wanted to block all flows of mana to prohibit all communications between Count Rakikan and Ufa. If Rakikan asked for help through his crystal ball, Ufa might come for rescue, and their plan would fail.
Krithli wanted to make sure that she was prepared for every possible scenario.
She must complete this mission successfully.
The cost of the powder, which Krithli sprinkled, was very expensive. Not all dungeon masters could afford it.
However, using the powder was much more economical than failing this mission.
If Ufa found out about their secret plan, the Royal Observatory would be at risk. Because Krithli had deployed the majority of the forces for this mission, there was only a small number of monsters guarding the master at the observatory.
Krithli wanted to have someone else take charge of the mission and wanted to serve alongside her master. However, her master encouraged the dark elf to take charge, emphasizing that her leading the mission would be the best help that she could do for her master.
Her master trusted her, and Krithli was now determined to complete this mission at all costs.
“Our top priority is Rakikan. Please keep that in mind.”
Krithli’s eyes were burning with passion.
The dark elf continued to speak, “Let us begin.”
Roar!
The nine heads of Hydra roared at the same time.
Boom! Boom!
Other monsters started to move forward.
No matter how powerful Count Rakikan’s army was, a hundred monsters gathered in this place overpowered it.
The Wizard of the Moon was with Rakikan, which might be a problem. However, Krithli believed that Rakikan’s army would go wild if she eliminated him quickly. The dark elf planned to trap the wizard in the middle of the mess.
‘All for my dungeon master,’ Krithli resolved.
Krithli’s Death Cane shook as though it agreed with its owner.
Count Rakikan was the fifth most powerful one out of Ufa’s demons. In other words, he was only second to dukes.
Despite such an established status in Ufa’s faction, Rakikan could not attend the gathering at the Royal Observatory. He had to stay behind and keep an eye on Gustarte, the Wizard of the Moon. Someone had to constantly watch the wizard. Otherwise, the wizard could break out.
Rakikan was disappointed when he could not attend the gathering. However, the demon knew that his job was as important as participating in the meeting.
“It sucks that I could not go. Something interesting can be going on.”
Sitting alone in a small castle, Rakikan was sipping a glass of wine. The demon let his guards off. Not only was watching the wizard boring, but also most of the demons of Devildom, even his potential enemies, went to the meeting. Furthermore, no one knew the location of this castle or the fact that Rakikan was here.
“Maybe I can sneak in and quickly check what’s going on…,” Rakikan considered. “Phew! I should have had some lower demon watch this wizard.”
Rakikan was convinced that no one would attack this castle. All he needed for his task were some safety tools to control Gustarte.
The demon could not understand why Ufa assigned such a boring job to an elite demon like himself.
“Of course, I can’t fathom Ufa’s grand and sophisticated plans, but I can’t deny that this job is boring.”
Rakikan drank the rest of the wine in the glass.
A match was going on in front of this bored demon.
Slash!
Grrr!
A bug-bear and an orc lord were fighting against each other.
The bug-bear’s level was three, which was one higher than that of the orc lord. However, the orc lord was making good use of the internal structure of the castle in the fight, and it was slightly dominating its opponent.
Many monsters gathered around to watch the fight.
This match was the only entertainment in the castle. There was nothing else to kill time.
“I will grant one wish to the winner. It can be anything from a female, a weapon, to a larger home in the dungeon.”
Rakikan grinned.
When a dungeon master bought a monster, it would work for its master for free. However, that did not mean that the monster had no wishes.
Some wanted females or spaces on higher floors in the dungeon. Higher floors had softer and more amount of mana. Moreover, they were usually safer than lower floors, and monsters preferred safer homes for their offspring. Finally, a monster on a higher floor was considered to be closer to the dungeon master than those who were on lower floors.
Rakikan’s monsters had dreams, too. They hoped that Ufa would become the Dark Lord and Rakikan would be chosen as one of his closest subordinates. Should such a scenario be realized, they would enjoy the success and tremendous rewards.
Monsters who prioritized their tribes would be given a larger land in Devildom, and they would be secured from any threats. Those who were only interested in procreating would not be summoned for any more battles, and they would be able to spend the rest of their lives mating with females.
Slash!
Grrr!
After a fierce fight, the orc lord slashed the bug-bear’s eyes. Then it immediately climbed up the bear’s upper body and chopped its head.
Slash!
The bug-bear’s head dropped to the ground, and soon, its body fell, too.
“What is your name? I’m sure you have one, unlike the bug-bear who only thinks about humping.”
“My name is Iron-eating-lion.”
The orc lord seemed quite intelligent and could speak coherently.
“My Iron-eating-lion, you have already won several times in competitions so far, and now it is time for me to make your wish come true. What do you want?”
“Separate us from the Tribe of Red Wolves.”
“What is the Tribe of Red Wolves?”
“It is a tribe that is hostile against our tribe, the Tribe of Iron Lion.”
Rakikan touched his chin.
The orc lord’s request was unexpected, but the demon had received similar requests in the past.
From Rakikan’s perspective, orcs from different tribes looked the same. The demon did not want his orcs to be hostile with each other, but it would be awkward to temporarily separate two tribes. Only the fittest survived in the dungeon, and it would be somewhat dishonorable for the dungeon master to separate two tribes instead of having them compete.
Rakikan suspected that the two tribes, Iron Lion and Red Wolves, were neck and neck, and that was the reason that the conflict persisted. Had one been much stronger than the other, the weaker would have perished a long time ago.
‘Well, I can’t just ignore his request,’ Rakikan considered.
He had already given his words to the orc lord. Rakikan could ignore the orc lord if he wanted to, but the demon wanted to pay his dues for the entertainment. Furthermore, it wasn’t a difficult favor; the orc lord did not ask to wipe out his rival tribe. He only wanted to move them away from his.
“Fine, I will separate the two. The Tribe of Red Wolves will be moved to the sixth floor, and your tribe will be on the 14th.”
“Thank…thank you!”
Rakikan’s dungeon had 20 floors in total.
And the 14th floor, where the Tribe of Iron Lion would be moved to, was a place for high monsters.
The move was a monumental reward, and the orc lord was amazed by it.
“When I return to Devildom, I will try to make a new dungeon by myself,” Rakikan planned.
Rakikan smiled. Running a dungeon was quite fun, and he wondered why he had not thought of this back in Devildom.
Boom!
The dungeon shook.
“What is going on?”
Rakikan immediately realized that it was an attack.
However, the demon found it odd that none of the emergency switches worked.
All of the monsters that were gathered around were silent.
“Sniffy! What’s going on?” Rakikan summoned his fairy, frowning.
Sniffy the fairy appeared from thin air. Touching its nose, the fairy spoke, “Sniff! E-enemies! Sniff! Have invaded us!”
“Enemies? Tell me more precisely.”
“Sniff! One second!”
Sniffy brought a large crystal ball. It soon lit up and showed the invaders inside.
At the same time, Rakikan scowled.
“We need to inform our archduke.”
“A-ah…we can’t send mana outside. Sniff!”
“What?”
“Sniff!”
Sniffy was very nervous and shook its body.
The fairy could not do anything.
Rakikan touched his forehead. He realized that the enemies, even though he could not understand how, were blocking the mana from flowing outside. In other words, he could not call for help through the crystal ball.
The demon realized that he did not have any other options. He remembered seeing some items from the Auction of Devildom which could substitute the crystal ball, but he did not purchase any of them.
“We don’t have any other options… Muster all of the monsters in the dungeon. We must all fight.”
Rakikan made up his mind to confront the enemies.
However, the enemies invading his castle were much stronger than some humans who had occasionally intruded into his territories.
The demon wasn’t sure if he could defeat the enemies even with his best monsters.
Desperately thinking of other options, Rakikan’s gaze focused on one place.
“I might have to release Gustarte,” the demon considered.
Rakikan knew that freeing Gustarte would result in chaos in his dungeon. Unfortunately, his dungeon was on the verge of getting conquered by his enemies, and Rakikan believed that releasing Gustarte would be a better option than losing the dungeon.
Rakikan had seen the dark elf from Devildom. She was leading his enemies from the front. The demon vaguely remembered her name, Krithli, and he realized that she was much more powerful than he had expected.
Then Rakikan remembered that Krithli worked for Randalf Bruciel.
“Randalf Bruciel!” Rakikan exclaimed.
The demon realized that Randalf was behind everything, and he wondered what Randalf’s intention was.
“Hurry up!”
“Yes, Master! Sniff!”
Rakikan gritted his teeth.
