Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: Episode 6. 2000vs800 (1)
Ten days had passed since her first dungeon training.
Yoo Eunhye had transformed into a new person.
She became confident and was proactive in everything that she was doing.
Now, her physical abilities had improved, and she started to look like a warrior.
I thought that if I trained her little more, she would be able to go on raids by herself.
So, I came back to the top floor of my dungeon after a long time.
‘I should find a skill book that Yoo Eunhye can use. She needs to get rid of that current running around in her body to move on to the next step,’ I thought.
In my former life, I was a man of self-assertion. I tried my best to do everything by myself to become strong. It took ten years to realize that I was wrong.
I’d decided that I will be a little more generous, and Yoo Eunhye was an important part of my plan. Since I knew that I would get more than I gave, I didn’t have any reasons not to provide her what she needed.
It had been a while, but Lyhee was still the same. She was sitting on the Dungeon Core and thinking with a silly face.
Soon she realized that I was there and greeted me with her flapping wings.
“Oh, Master! Why didn’t you come back earlier?”
“Something happened?”
“They cleared the second floor. If we leave them like that, they will come up to the third and fourth floor soon!”
“Already?”
I’d thought it would take at least six months for people to reach the fourth floor, but they’d already cleared the second floor?
When I asked Lyhee, Lyhee nodded and answered, “A massive group of people came in. I don’t think they are from here. They all had different skin colors. Lyhee was making a garden on the third floor and people suddenly appeared.”
Lyhee started to kick the dungeon Core as if she was angry.
Although I had no idea why she thought making a garden on the third floor was a good idea, what she meant was that some non-Korean people came to my dungeon. There were 72 dungeons in total, and mine was the only one in Korea.
Why did they come to the Korean one?
Soon, I was able to think of the answer.
‘They came here for the treasure.’
Mine was the only dungeon where the heroes found treasures.
It made an international buzz, so I’m sure people wanted to find the treasures.
“How many?”
Lyhee raised her hands and drew a circle with her hands. “This- much!”
“Accurately.”
“They all came in separately, so I’m not sure, but some came in a group of a hundred people… there were Chinese as well. How did I know? Lyhee speaks three languages from Earth. I speak Chinese as well.”
“How. Many.”
When my words became shorter and my voice went lower, Lyhee realized I was serious and that she shouldn’t be chatty anymore. “Huh! Lyhee thinks, there were at least 500 Chinese and 500 other people as well. Around 200 of them died on the second floor.”
“How’s the third floor now?”
“There is no fight yet. It seems like the leader of the packs are being careful for now.”
“Report me on monsters on the third floor.”
“There are five leaders of Goblin packs and four leaders of Kobold packs. Each of them has around 200 in their pack. There are 200 Orcs now.”
From the third floor, there were leaders of Goblin and Kobold packs. Those leaders had the intelligence to think of tactics, so the leaders were trying to find out how to fight against the invaders because they knew that fighting without a plan wouldn’t be smart.
“Not good enough.”
“Yeah.” Lyhee agreed.
Even though there were many monsters, there were limits on them. When people used the human-wave strategy, the monsters couldn’t fight against them.
Orcs were gathered in small groups, and they couldn’t fight together without an Orc Lord. The Orc Lord was a high-level monster that cost around 120,000 points.
If I placed an Orc Lord on the third floor, every single hero stepping on the third floor would die, and I will have no heroes left to train. Also, Kobolds and Goblins will be annihilated.
If you asked me why I didn’t move them after finishing the battle, I would tell you that then the Orc Lord becomes useless. It is not a good idea to waste 120,000pt.
The Orc Lord has something around 20% missing in order to become a Dungeon Core Guardian, while as a floor master, it is not very efficient on any floor.
I wanted to use the ground floor to the fourth floor to help the awakened heroes level up. I couldn’t leave the Orc Lord there, and the floors were empty from the fifth floor up, so even if I summoned an Orc Lord, it would be expensive and useless.
‘I shouldn’t use the Orc Lord yet,” I told Lyhee after thinking. “I should meet the leaders of the Goblin and Kobold pack. They have a bit of intelligence, so I would be able to communicate. How many points do I have, Lyhee?”
“Around 560,000 pt.”
“…What did you say?”
“It is 562,433 points in total.”
Last time I checked, I had around 320,000pt left.
I was out for about two months, and I earned 220,000pt during that time.
On average, if you earn 5,000pt a month, it wasn’t bad.
If you killed a normal awakened hero, you would get 200pt, give or take.
If you killed the best at the moment, you would get no more than 600pt.
Since heroes came in in an 8 or 12 people unit, the mortality of the attack unit was quite low.
I thought that was the best idea because if I kept the heroes alive and killed them when they become stronger, I would get many more points, so I didn’t think it was necessary to place strong monsters on the ground floor.
It seemed like at least 600 awakened heroes were killed while I was out.
No…if I calculated all the points that were spent to improve the dungeon during that time, I was sure there were many more who were killed.
“Huh. A lot of them came in endlessly.”
It was almost incredible.
I should never underestimate the power of the unity of humans.
Lyhee flew over and set down on my shoulder quickly.
“There were big groups and also a lot of non-Korean awakened heroes, but most of them were killed on the ground floor. They totally deserved the death, Lyhee thinks.”
“So, there are around 800 of them on the third floor.”
“Why don’t you handle it, Master? If you step up, those humans will die like ants.”
“Sure…but no.”
In my former life, I would have just killed them all with anger.
I didn’t want to do that this time.
In my former life, I’d lost my dungeon and all my monsters. I’d had to simply look at other devils commanding monsters to take over the world.
When I looked at those devils commanding a massive number of monsters, I’d thought that that was exactly what I needed. I’d been to so many battlefields but never had a war using monsters under my command.
‘It would be fine.’
It was a war. A real war.
There were big-scale fights in my dungeon.
They were against awakened heroes who came from abroad. They didn’t have any reason to come into my dungeon, but they did.
Should I sweep them up by myself?
That was a waste. It was not difficult at all, but I didn’t want to miss my chance to command monsters and have fun.
In my former life, I’d received the title ‘Count’ in Devildom, but that was just a title, nothing more. There were no devils or monsters following me.
‘Placing treasures on each floor made a misfortune turn into a blessing. Humans are crazy about treasures; they would definitely risk their lives to get them.’
Humans are greedy animals.
Their greed would make them risk their own lives.
‘But well, China is China for a reason, they have a lot of heroes.’
Time after time, the number of awakened heroes would increase. Currently, there were only one out of ten thousand, but the number would increase rapidly sooner or later.
Even if it was just one out of ten thousand, China had a massive population. They already had over a hundred thousand awakened heroes, so the five hundred who came in were just the tip of an iceberg.
“Master. Since you have a lot of points, why don’t you summon a Golem? Nature Golems would attack only the enemies, so it wouldn’t destroy the ecosystem of the third floor. They make the plants grow faster, so it will help to create a nicer landscape. If you place them in the garden that Lyhee created, it will make a great scene. Lyheeee~”
Lyhee made a suggestion with her own agenda for her garden.
Nature Golem was a high-level monster just like an Orc Lord. It was 50,000pt more expensive than an Orc Lord, but it couldn’t hurt the ecosystem, so it was clearly a good card that I could use.
If I summoned a Nature Golem, the war would become too easy. It was clear that a Golem would sweep everyone up by itself and destroy the balance that I was trying to create.
I didn’t need it right now.
‘I need to work as a floor master; I didn’t plan to do it…’
Floor masters controlled monsters on each floor.
It was an essential element to organize the dungeon, but I didn’t summon any of them.
I thought I didn’t need a floor master on the lower floors.
If I had a floor master in a situation like this, the floor master would unite the monsters and deal with the intruders. For instance, it would have planned a war to fight against awakened heroes who came up to the third floor.
A floor master would ask for help from the floor masters of the other floors and even to me if needed.
I shook my head and told Lyhee, “What we have is enough. We have 200 Orcs and 1800 Goblins and Kobolds, so we have 2000 monsters in total, whereas there are only 800 awakened heroes. We have the upper hand with our number.”
“Well, I think the awakened heroes on the third floor are quite high-level ones. There are two Chinese heroes who are using strong skills. I think they have Rare level skills. Don’t you think that if you don’t step in, it will be a difficult fight?”
An Orc could fight against two awakened heroes.
The problem was Goblins and Kobolds. To fight against one of the high-level awakened heroes, five of them had to fight together.
It was a ballpark figure, but still, it was quite obvious that it wouldn’t be an easy fight. On top of that, there were two awakened heroes with Rare level skills.
‘This is exactly what I wanted.’
I felt my heart beating. If I joined the fight or summoned a high-level monster, it would be a piece of cake, but I didn’t want to play it that way. I wanted to feel the thrill and excitement of playing similar force on my hand.
Just thinking about little soldiers following my orders made me thrilled.
In my former life, I’d lost my dungeon too fast, and I didn’t even have a chance to think about that.
I used all my points to make myself stronger, and when I realized it was not the best choice, it was already too late.
I’d felt like I wanted to have my own army of monsters when I’d experienced other dungeons.
“First, let me meet the leaders of Kobolds and Goblins.”
I couldn’t help but smile.
I was on the third floor of the dungeon.
There was a quite unique scene in front of me.
Approximately 1,800 Goblins and Kobolds were in one place.
Nine leaders of the packs ran out to stand in front of me.
“Dungeon Master! Me Goblins here. They better strong Goblins than Kobolds.”
“Dungeon Master! Here me. Goblins are nothing we are stronger Kobolds.”
“Dungeon Master! I have the most. My Kobolds the best strong and very good.”
All nine pack leaders were talking, but none of them had any character.
They were simply competing on who was stronger.
Two hours ago, I opened all my Mana and let them know that I was their Dungeon Master. I also told them to gather here.
A Dungeon Master has absolute power.
Goblins and Kobolds never had a good relationship, but they couldn’t disobey me.
“Hello.” When I finished speaking, nine leaders of the packs started to greet me as if they were competing.
“I welcome you.”
“I welcome you more.”
“I welcome you the best.”
They were leaders of the packs, but they were just creatures with low intelligence.
I wouldn’t expect anything better from a Goblin or a Kobold.
It wasn’t a bad feeling to have nine monsters greeting me together, but they were simply too noisy.
‘They give me a headache.’
I massaged my temple for a second.
Can I really start a war with these things?
