Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 208
Chapter 208: Chapter 65. The Attendees (3)
‘It’s not good…,’ I thought.
Such news was the last thing that I wanted to hear at the moment.
I wanted the archdukes to become hostile towards each other during this meeting. And when they started fighting against each other, I wanted angels and humans to attack the archdukes and their demons. If my plan worked out, the attacks from angels and humans would have caused significant damages to the archdukes.
Then I would be much stronger than any of the archdukes, and I could force the rest of the archdukes to obey me.
‘It’s not going to work out,’ I concluded.
For some reason, the archdukes and their demons were looking at me, and I could not understand why the special event only popped up to them.
‘Special events appear to everyone…,’ I surmised.
I collected my thoughts instead of panicking. I believed that there were still chances where I could wisely cope with the current situation. The strong must be able to not only improve themselves but also to escape from any threats.
I began to think about what could have caused the special event to take place.
Then I thought about the appearance of Maxium, the Malicious Commander. All of the demons and even humans received notifications when the commander showed up. The same happened in the previous life, too. It was unusual that such large and various groups all received notifications.
I wanted to know what caused the special event or what it was about, but I could not find out. I did not have any options but to pretend that I was also aware of it, just like the others.
If I admitted that I had not heard about the special event, they would see me as the culprit and blame me for any damages or disadvantages that they would experience.
“Now these demons believe that I can open the pathway back to Devildom. Perhaps I can open one,” I considered.
I nodded.
The large number of angels, which were coming from the East, was not of my interest at the moment.
I thought about how to get back to Devildom, and I realized that there might be a way.
An idea suddenly popped in: Lyhee’s Golden Crown.
I got this item when Lyhee was promoted to a Fairy Knight. As a result of the promotion, I was sent to the Underworld, which was a creation of the Hell Lord. The Hell Lord’s treasure house was located in the Underworld.
Since the crown was able to send me to the Underworld, I felt that it could also send me back to Devildom.
‘I still cannot think of the reason why I was not notified about the special event. If Lyhee was the key, I should have received one… Everyone should receive notifications except for public enemies, those who were completely unrelated to the special events, and those who were not part of the system,’ I mused.
When this thought popped in my mind, I could not help but frown.
The system, which the demon god had created, was nearly perfect. Therefore, I could neglect the scenario where I did not get the notification. It was perhaps due to a glitch in the system.
Besides, I was definitely part of the system. Before I came back to Earth, I had made a contract with the gods.
I should also be related to the special event since I was no different from other demons in Devildom.
Finally, I was not a public enemy. I was quite sure about this, because other monsters, even Maxium, who were public enemies in the previous life, did not receive the notifications either.
I was no different from other demons except for the fact that I had the heart of the Hell Lord.
Then I suddenly thought of the possibility that the system recognized me as the Hell Lord. Since I was both a dungeon master and had the heart of the Hell Lord, the system could recognize me as a mix of both. Had it not recognized me as the Hell Lord, Lyhee’s crown would have sent me back to Devildom.
Other demons did not know that I possessed the heart of the Hell Lord and that the system perceived me as such.
At the same time, I thought about the curse that Dark Elf Higher, Krithli’s mother, was under. She was attacked by the same force that struck me, and she died. If the suspect could attack me, it should be as powerful as the Hell Lord since the system viewed me as such. The culprit must have inherited something as powerful as the heart of the Hell Lord.
I had forgotten about the heart of the Hell Lord for a while. I had assumed that I would not need to think about it much until I returned to Devildom. However, it seemed that everything was connected closely with each other, and the heart could give me hints.
As far as I knew, the Hell Lord was one of the most powerful beings in this world. No one in the previous life could match him.
The gods had played tricks on him, which ended up killing him. However, I wondered if anyone could stop him should he return.
“Something is going on at Devildom, and these demons want to go back as soon as possible,” I speculated.
I still could not grasp what the special event was, but I could guess that there was at least something going on at Devildom, and the demons wanted to return as soon as possible.
I clenched my fists. Then I straightened my back and looked towards the East.
Boom!
Boom!
A battle was going on outside the castle.
There was a clash between the monsters who were waiting outside and the angels who came from the East.
Most of the demons exited the castle to command the monsters.
The rest of the demons in the castle wanted to end the meeting as soon as possible.
When I saw that they were becoming tenser, I grinned.
I was quite confused in the beginning, but I was starting to see the big picture.
“I still have the key to resolve this issue,” I declared confidently.
When I realized that I had control of the situation, I became more relaxed.
It was told that cherubim were high-ranking angels with great wisdom. Out of nine different ranks of angels, cherubim ranked second, and they were also very powerful.
In fact, one cherub was as powerful as an archduke and their entire army combined.
The strongest angel on Earth was a cherub. Although this angel was born recently, the cherub’s rank carried great authorities and had tremendous influence among other angels.
Tens of thousands of angels rose from various places around the world. The angels claimed one of the dungeons in China as a sacred area, and they gathered there. The angels recovered their lost power from the sacred area and became much stronger than they were before.
As a result, the sacred area was transformed into a fortress, where demons would not even dare attack.
Then the angels forsook their home, and they started attacking demons with the cherubim in the lead. Although the angels were greatly outnumbered, each of them was far superior to demons. Furthermore, most of the angels had recovered their power. As a result, the fight between the angels and the demons would be tight.
I had planned to use Hashi to move the rest of the angels who were still on Earth, and my plan succeeded. However, angels were only a part in the grand scheme of things, and there was more to come, which involved humans.
I had told them about the exact date of the meeting. If the humans did not come to fight, it would be very foolish of them since this meeting would be their one and only chance.
“If everything goes as planned, I won’t have to do anything,” I remarked.
I remained calm on top of the clock tower.
The show had begun, and all I needed to do was watch.
Awakened heroes, great leaders, and secret groups started moving. When a person who called himself an archduke informed humans about the gathering of demons, they thought that it was a joke. However, when they found out that a large number of monsters and demons were assembling at the Royal Observatory of Greenwich, they realized that the man wasn’t joking. They altogether agreed that the gathering would decide the fate of mankind.
It seemed that something was going to happen at the observatory, and they perceived this gathering as an opportunity to eliminate all demons and monsters at once.
“This is Flower reporting. I repeat, this is Flower reporting. Phew! What kind of code name is that, Guild Master!”
Yoo Eunhye and her teammates were navigating through the debris of collapsed buildings, which was only about dozens of kilometers away from the Royal Observatory.
Then someone replied at Yoo Eunhye’s call.
-If you want a different code name, I can call you ‘Super Strong Flower’.
It was Kim Yongwoo. He was commanding other members of the guild through radios.
Yoo Eunhye sighed at Kim Yongwoo’s message.
“That’s even worse!”
-I heard that people call you as the ‘Flower of the Battlefield’ after you defeated everyone. Should I call you ‘Leader Flower’ then?
Yoo Eunhye challenged all kinds of powerful individuals in the underground bunker, who came from various places all over the world. She defeated everyone and proved that she was one of the strongest warriors.
And as he had promised, Kim Yongwoo offered Yoo Eunhye to call her as ‘Leader Flower’.
However, Yoo Eunhye did not like the nickname. She thought that flowers were too weak and fragile.
“Shut up and tell me what to do next. We just arrived at the destination.”
-You already arrived? Then wait for further commands. A few more teams will join you there.
Yoo Eunhye was puzzled.
“Huh? I thought we were doing the most important task, weren’t we? Don’t we have to move secretly?”
-Well, you are correct. However, it’s an emergency now, and I believe that the more people we have, the higher the chance of our success.
“What’s going on?”
-Angels have come, and there were tens of thousands of them.
Slap!
Yoo Eunhye slapped her forehead.
“Why did they appear all of sudden? Wait, aren’t we supposed to know this in advance?”
-You know that electronics don’t work in sacred areas. And it’s not like we could see them coming. They appeared all of sudden, as if they teleported. How on Earth can poor humans like us see this coming in advance?
Kim Yongwoo kept on complaining that even the wisest person would not have been able to predict the advent of angels. Yoo Eunhye could not help but grit her teeth.
“Well, our plan to go in secretly won’t work anymore. How are we going to carry this in the middle of a battle then?”
Yoo Eunhye turned around.
Behind her was Edward Windsor, who was carrying a large metal cage. The cage was as large as a person.
-That is the hope of the entire mankind. Do whatever it takes to move that. You just have to detonate it. You know we can’t sneak in through air or sea. A strong awakened hero must carry it without getting caught.
Inside the cage was the most powerful weapon in the history of mankind, and Yoo Eunhye and her team were assigned to carry this cage to the center of the Royal Observatory of Greenwich without getting caught.
If they could detonate the weapon in the observatory, they would be able to eliminate a large number of monsters and demons at once.
‘This weapon is a result of sophisticated science, many magic items, and countless cores,’ Yoo Eunhye realized, biting her lips.
If her mission succeeded, and this weapon exploded, mankind would be victorious.
The preparation time had calculated the impact of this weapon using hundreds of supercomputers, and they were confident that if it exploded, it would wipe out all demons and monsters.
However, carrying this weapon to the observatory was the most challenging task.
They could not carry it by planes, because monsters would shoot them down easily. Ships were more or less the same.
In the end, there was no option besides an awakened hero hand-carrying it furtively.
And Yoo Eunhye and her team were chosen for such a mission.
“How long do we need to wait?”
-Hmm… Soon!
Kim Yongwoo’s answer was rather ambiguous.
However, Yoo Eunhye and Edward could immediately sense that someone was approaching them because of the holiness, which could reach them from far away.
They had thought that it was a group of angels, but it turned out that they were humans.
In addition to the confusing identities, the size of the team looked way too small to be of any help. There were only two women.
“It’s too small to be called a team…,” Yoo Eunhye muttered.
Then she thought she was mistaken the moment she saw fireballs floating around them. The fireballs, when Yoo Eunhye looked closely, seemed like two adolescent girls.
Yoo Eunhye then considered if there were four girls in the team.
“Hello.”
“…”
One of the two girls was playful, and the other was quiet. The fireballs kept floating around them.
“Are you the team that Kim Yongwoo mentioned?” Yoo Eunhye inquired, puzzled.
“Yes, you are correct,” one of the women replied, smiling. “My name is Kim Youra, and this quiet girl is my younger sister, Kim Minji. We are both High Priests, and I’m sure we will be helpful to you. And these two are our partners, Rei and Sera.
The two girls, who were made out of fire, bowed shortly.
Yoo Eunhye immediately realized that the two were Spirits of Fire. She heard that quite a large number of awakened heroes had made contracts with the Spirits of Fire.
“Ah…nice to meet you. I’m Yoo Eunhye, and I’m a warrior.”
“Nice to meet you, too.”
Kim Youra smiled back.
