Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 193
Chapter 193: Chapter 61. The Wizard of the Moon (1)
There were four types of skeletons in the Skeleton Soldiers Storage. The warlock and the guardian were familiar names that I had seen a few times in my previous life. Pandemonium had mass-produced them. They were not strong individually, but, when gathered together, they could be.
The chaos soldier was something unfamiliar. The next item also got me curious.
“Bone dragon…”
It was the highest-level monster at level 2. A sign indicated that I could purchase it up to two.
“The Hell Lord had so many highest-level monsters.”
He was a human who dreamed to be a god. He reached the level that ordinary people would not be able to achieve. Demons got scared of his might. He made the Underworld in his preparation to be a god. Thus, it was not strange that he owned so many great monsters. Perhaps other sealed storages could have similar levels of highest-grade monsters.
“It’s quality over quantity,” I muttered, touching my chin.
I could fill the troops with many warlocks and guardians, but I thought it might be better to get one strong monster. Anyway, Maxium had been engaging in guerilla warfare rather than a frontal assault.
Even though I gave him a small number of monsters, they were actually strong, and they could defeat a large number of enemies. Maxium was the commander who could carry out an efficient war. He was better than me in terms of strategy.
“Then…”
I decided what to buy and nodded. It would be a considerable expense, but it was well worth the investment.

Belem, Brazil in South America… In the past, it was a port city that was the center of commerce and transportation. It originally had a population of over one million people. However, at present, it was so devastated that it was hard to find any human. Maxium chose this place as his base.
He had led 5,000 skeleton soldiers and fought hard, but his enemy was too strong. He had only succeeded in delaying for some time. Of course, that alone was a great achievement. Ufa had hesitated to charge because he was afraid to be caught by Maxium.
But that did not stay long. Now, Maxium only had 2,000 soldiers, less than half in the beginning. The quality of the skeleton soldiers wasn’t very good, so there was a limit that Maxium could do.
“Hmm…although we don’t need supplies, I wish more soldiers could be recruited quickly,” Maxium expressed from near the shore, riding on his horse.
The soldiers were made from dead bodies. They did not need food or other kinds of sustenance. The problem was that their rate of recruitment was too slow. He turned his head and saw a pile of bones a short distance away. Two liches were commanding the soldiers and combining the bones. There were bones of humans, monsters, and animals. Unfortunately, not all of them could become his soldiers. Bone quality was important for Maxium.
“Whew! If only there was not an assault…”
Although Maxium did not know well about the topography of Earth or Ufa’s monsters, he had been working well to interrupt Ufa. However, he had failed to find a safe place a few days ago. One of Ufa’s demons had found them, and they were ambushed that night.
Had he not retaliated soon, he might have lost all of his soldiers. The only reason that there were still 2,000 soldiers left because Maxium was a competent commander.
“Now is the perfect time to restore some of the troops.”
Ufa had stopped advancing. He was stationed in South America. Maxium had thought Ufa might have been waiting for the right time to attack him, but it seemed like Maxium got it wrong. It had been brought to Ufa’s attention about a sacred zone that had suddenly appeared. That’s why all demons reduced their activities.
Anyway, now was the chance to increase his troops without any interruptions. He had never been able to stay more than five days in one place, so the speed of production of soldiers was very slow.
“How is work going?” Maxium asked the two liches.
“Human here, too weak. Not many good bones.”
“Speed up. It should be going twice as fast now.”
“Need more help! Two liches can’t do fast!” one lich pointed out.
They had been taking bones from graves or dead bodies, so it was hard to find good resources. They could make 30 skeleton soldiers a day at most. Skeleton soldiers were moving and collecting bones busily. Clutter filled the air, but Maxium wasn’t still satisfied.
‘His Majesty entrusted this task to me. If I stop here, then I will be ashamed to see him again,’ Maxium reflected.
The Underworld was a wild and empty place. Maxium had gained fame as the Malicious Commander there. Unlike the other commanders, he maintained his neutrality and stayed out of the fight for the Treasure Warehouse of the Hell Lord. Some witnesses say that he just looked on, but he did so to save troops for the day when his master would return.
If someone truly had aimed at the Treasure Warehouse, he would have acted accordingly. However, it was also true that he had been exhausted waiting for such a long time. Then he was forcibly summoned to a strange world and heard the sound of the heart of His Majesty. At that time, he truly had understood what his purpose was.
Immediately after returning to the Underworld, he had moved to stop other commanders. Then he was surprised when His Majesty came to the Underworld himself. He didn’t like the word ‘fate’, but he devoted his loyalty to His Majesty since then.
His Majesty had given him such an important task in acceptance of his oath. Therefore, Maxium could not stop here.
“Maybe I should strike and take one of the small dungeons.”
It was a bit extreme, but the most certain way to make His Majesty happy. Maxium had been figuring out where the dungeons of Ufa’s camp were. If he occupied the weakest one, then he would be able to restore all his power at once.
The problem was after that. Ufa would surely retaliate. Maxium had seen how powerful Ufa’s troops were. He shouldn’t act hastily.
Whoosh!
Boom! Boom!
It was at that moment when Maxium tried to find a way. Giant stones started to fall all over the place, the ground cracked, and flames emerged.
“This mana… It must be Count Arentu!”
Maxium sensed the special wave of mana. It was Count Arentu’s mana. Maxium fought against him before. It looked like he found where Maxium was.
Maxium turned his gaze and saw the sea. Some Kraken and giant ships were approaching. He had not noticed them until they were so close. Maxium could not make out of this current development.
“I prepared well for defense. How is this happening?”
The liches had made many magic circles, and soldiers were on the watch. However, Maxium did not hear anything from them. He only noticed the enemy when they came too close.
“A very talented wizard must be among them.”
The enemy might have had someone with them who was stronger than the liches.
Maxium quickly pulled out his sword and shouted, “Ready to retaliate to the enemy’s attack!”
The enemies were fully ready. It seemed like this fight would not go easy.

Count Arentu, a demon of Ufa’s camp, smiled, revealing his teeth. “Look at his panic-stricken face! He hasn’t sensed us until we came this near.”
Ufa had ordered Arentu to kill Maxium. But whenever he approached, his target managed to escape. He had been failing to catch Maxium. Sometimes, Maxium himself fought against him to buy time for his troops. Maxium was close to becoming a highest-grade monster at level 3, so it was hard to fight against him in man-to-man combat.
However, Arentu was sure that today would be the last day for Maxium. He grinned and looked back. Someone was leashed, sitting like a dog. It had long hair, making it difficult to tell if it was male or female from afar. Ufa handed it to Arentu directly. It was a magician who could deceive even the highest-level monster. It was not in a normal state, but it was very useful.
“My master gave me a chance. I shall catch Maxium today,” Arentu declared with conviction.
Maxium appeared all of sudden and started to interrupt them. Arentu resolved to catch him this time to figure out who was commanding him. He might have been just an event monster like angels, but Arentu couldn’t shake the impression that someone was controlling Maxium.
“There is no place to escape. Death awaits you on the land, ocean, and even underneath.” Arentu raised his hand and used one of his skills, Earth Explosion.
Boom!
Fire emerged from the earth. The hot fires began to melt the land and surrounded Maxium and his soldiers.
It was a virtue of the veteran to assume the worst situation when in battle. Maxium had installed a transportation magic square in preparation for a situation like this. It required a lot of materials to make, and it was not movable. But as he had set this place as his base, he deemed it necessary to prepare for an emergency.
“I need to buy time for the liches and soldiers to escape.”
It took a considerable amount of time to activate the transportation magic square. He needed to delay the enemy. Besides, he had to survive no matter what the outcome of this battle would be, even if he ended up losing all his troops. Maxium was worth more than all of them, and he knew it.
However, Maxium couldn’t retreat without trying. He focused on delaying Arentu’s troops.
His sword shone brilliantly in gold and wiped out the enemies around. Maxium killed the monsters, including Cerberus.
“Arentu!”
Maxium only had eyes for Count Arentu and the mysterious being next to him.
“It must be him…,” Maxium recognized the creature.
He had thought there must be a great wizard among Arentu’s army, and he was right. The mana around the mysterious being was very different.
“I should kill him.”
Maxium knew that if he did not kill the creature, His Majesty would be in danger. The wizard would follow sneakily wherever His Majesty would go. He was emitting a dangerous aura.
‘If I let the wizard live, he will be a pain in the neck on His Majesty,’ Maxium thought.
He decided to kill the wizard before he retreated. That wizard incapacitated the liches who were known as masters of black magic. No matter how strong His Majesty was, the wizard would be troublesome. It was best to finish him off now.
“Sword!”
Rumble!
As Maxium shouted, his sword trembled, and a golden light expanded. Shortly after, Maxium got on his horse and rode quickly, ignoring all other monsters around.
