Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 163
Chapter 163: Episode 49. The Fifth Auction of Devildom (12)
“All kinds of stuffs are coming out,” I thought.
I could not help but chuckle at the Egg of Angel. It was a very difficult item to get. I did not know how the Spirits of Darkness got this egg, but had they stolen it, they were pushing the envelope.
Since the Achievement Store had regular Eggs of Angels, it was not hard to find them. However, the egg, which was presented in the auction, looked much more special than the regular ones. Anyone could tell that the egg was much holier than the other eggs at once, because even a quick glance gave me the chills.
In the previous life, no Egg of Angel came out in the Auction of Devildom. Back then, the Spirits of Darkness were getting stronger slowly, and they did not need to risk themselves by trying to get extremely rare and dangerous items. It seemed that the spirits had changed. One of the rarest items was presented, and the spirits seemed to be in a rush for something.
“Are you not curious? Don’t you want to see what happens with this Egg? The angels keep the eggs safely somewhere deep in the Celestial World. Only a handful number of angels are allowed to enter such a place! I am quite sure that not many of you had seen the Eggs of Angel…”
Angels and demons were opposite to each other. It was very hard for one to find the other’s eggs. Each kept their eggs safely and secretly, and only the adult demons and angels fought with each other.
Then came the surprise, the Egg of Angel. It was not just an egg – it was a special one. The angel that came out from this egg would grow to something stronger or as strong as an Archangel. Any demon would be interested in having an Archangel as one of his or her monsters.
Whoever took this egg could realize such a dream. Furthermore, angels opposed demons by nature. Such a trait of angels would make the angel, which came out from this egg, an excellent weapon and monster when attacking other demons.
Everyone in the auction hall got very interested in the item, and Deboron resumed the auction.
“It sure is a very special item, but I will start with a relatively low bid, because I would like to have everyone participate this time. The starting bid is ten thousand points!”
So the competition began.
Several interesting items came out after the Egg of Angel, which accelerated the competitions among the demons and heated up the atmosphere.
In the beginning, the demons were interested in items with great qualities. As the auction proceeded, mysterious items intrigued the demons and grabbed their attention.
By the end of the auction, I took ten items, including the Egg of Angel. If I counted the items that I had purchased during the auction for individual items, which were the Great Quintessence of Fire, Hyacinth’s Bow, and some others, the grand total of items that I got from this year’s auction was fifteen.
“Krithli, let’s go home.”
The auction was over, and there was nothing left for me to do here. I wanted to get back home, organize the items, and think about my next moves.
The items that I bought were very useful, and they empowered myself and my monsters.
“I wasn’t expecting much from this auction,” I thought.
Because I was already in the realm of transcendence, I had thought that items from the Auction of Devildom would not contribute much more. Thanks to the other spirits, the Spirits of Darkness put in great effort to get spectacular items, which made me even more powerful.
I had a feeling that the Spirits of Darkness were rushing to earn as much as possible before other spirits, such as the Spirits of Water and the Spirits of Fire, became stronger. Luckily, I benefited from the competition.
“Yes, my master.”
Krithli replied politely and followed me from behind.
When I exited the auction hall, Ariel was waiting for me outside.
“What do you want?”
I asked quietly.
Lightly smiling, Ariel answered in a relaxed tone.
“Randalf Bruciel, I will make my move.”
I did not understand what she meant by that.
Furthermore, I did not know why the archduke was informing me that. While I was baffled, Ariel left her last words and turned around.
“Please entertain me until the last moment, the demon in the realm of transcendence.”
That was all she said, but it gave me a hint.
“As I expected…” I thought.
Ariel Diablo knew what was going on.
The archduke had a very sharp eye for powerful demons. I had never boasted my power, nor had I ever told anyone about the fact that I had entered the realm of transcendence. However, the keen archduke already recognized that I had entered such a realm.
She said she would be making her move, but her words were very ambiguous. Furthermore, her faction was the largest and strongest of all. Whatever the archduke decided, her faction would obey her order. Such a large and powerful group of demons and monsters would bring about great changes, and I could not easily predict the future of the Devildom.
The rest of the archdukes were relatively easy compared to Ariel. I knocked off a bunch of Ufa’s demons and killed Oculus. In addition, Pandemonium’s demons invaded my dungeon, and I wiped out all of them. Despite the successful campaigns, I had never confronted Ariel nor did I pick up a fight with any of her demons. I was still not strong enough to go on war with her and her demons. Even Pandemonium, whose faction got larger by absorbing Oculus’ demons and monsters after his death, dared not attempt to start a fight with Ariel.
“I need to get prepared, too,” I thought.
The archduke dropped her words in passing, but I had to take them seriously.
In the end, there would be only one winner. If I wanted to become that winner, everyone else besides myself was an enemy.
Although I had entered the realm of transcendence and became overwhelmingly powerful, I could not let my guards down.
“I cannot carry out wars by myself,” I thought.
In order to increase the chance of becoming the final winner, I had to work with others to defeat stronger enemies first. I decided to prepare plans based on this thought.
“My Dungeon Master, do you wish to return home immediately?”
“Do we still have more to do?”
Krithli shook her head.
“It seems that the host of the auction wanted to see us…”
“You’re talking about Deboron. Don’t worry about him.”
Deboron gave me a look after the auction was over. The spirit seemed to want to meet me in person, but I anticipated that he would not be so nice, and I decided to ignore him.
I was quite sure that the spirit would bring up topics like happenings during my absence and issues with the Spirits of Water and the Spirits of Fire.
When I started walking, Krithli quietly followed me from behind.
I crossed the interdimensional crack and returned to my dungeon.
The familiar top floor of the dungeon caught my attention.
There was a luxurious desk and a chair. On top of the desk were honey water and some snacks, such as cookies.
“Master, welcome back.”
Lyhee courteously greeted me. Her polite attitude surprised me.
The fairy was dressed up like a maid, but she looked strange in the costume.
“You must be tired. Take a seat and relax. Lyhee brought you some honey water and snacks.”
“You surprise me.”
I told Lyhee without thinking.
The fairy looked different from the Lyhee that I had known. She seemed to be very well-prepared and polite.
Lyhee clenched her fists.
“Lyhee has changed. She is no longer the fairy that you used to know. From now on, Lyhee will try her best to serve the master well.”
I did not think that her determination would last long. However, such a change, even if it was temporary, was not that bad. Every master would be happy if his or her fairy decided to straighten up.
Once seated, I tasted the honey water. Krithli sat on the other side of the desk.
“Master, what did you buy this time? When Lyhee thinks about good items, King Bees are good options.”
Then I realized that the King Bees, which Lyhee had taken around, were gone.
“They must have all died,” I thought.
While I was gone, the bees must have been attacked and died.
I could not think about buying King Bees in the auction, nor did any monsters like such come out.
Lyhee flew around me and brought more honey water and snacks. She even put some of the snacks into my mouth for me.
Meanwhile, the fairy looked as though she was looking forward to a present.
She must have believed that I purchased some King Bees for her from the auction.
Grrr!
Soon, the space near me shook and a crack opened up.
The purchased items from the auction started to arrive.
“Hehehe, what’s going to come out?”
Flying towards the crack, Lyhee whispered. Lyhee always flew towards a crack when it opened up for delivery. I had not seen such a scene for a while, and seeing the fairy with her old habit again made me smile a bit.
I stood up from the chair. Krithli stood next to me, trying to protect me from any possible threats.
The items were delivered in the same order as they were presented in the auction.
“…grrr.”
The Hydra, a monster as large as a mountain, appeared first. It was so large that it could almost reach the ceiling of the dungeon.
When Lyhee saw the monster, the fairy backed up, frightened. Her body trembled as though she ate something wrong.
The eight eyes of Hydra met Lyhee.
“L-Lyhee doesn’t taste good…”
The fairy slowly backed up and then quickly hid behind me. Then she stuck out her face from behind to see the monster.
Grr.
Grrrr!
The nine heads of Hydra were going wild.
The monster was not in great shape, but it did not attack me. The contract, though not complete, was controlling the monster.
“I am your new master.”
I came close to the monster and put my hand on its belly.
Then I released all of my power, letting the monster know that I was its master.
When I released my mana, the Flame of Pride started to burn. The flame did not affect the monster much, but it provoked the Hydra. The monster raised its foot high.
Despite the threatening gesture, I did not move at all. Looking straight into all of the monster’s eyes, I made a challenging gesture, showing that I was not afraid at all.
“M-master…!”
“Dungeon Master!”
Lyhee and Krithli tried to come to me, but I raised my hand and stopped them from coming closer.
I needed to get the pecking order straight. I had to establish myself in front of my monster without getting any help.
The Hydra soon started to move its gigantic feet as though it was going to crush me.
However, I did not move at all, and I stared into its eyes.
The monster’s feet were getting close to me, and Krithli tried to take out her wand to protect me. At that very moment, the monster stopped moving.
Grrr…
Snorting heavily, the Hydra took a step back. The monster looked baffled.
This single move established myself in front of this monster.
“You are going to be my sword, and I will use you to destroy my enemies.”
Slightly smiling, I spoke to the monster.
No matter how great the Hydra was, I was its master, and it was one of my subordinate monsters.
After taming the Hydra, I moved on to delegating the ownership of my dungeon.
I was promoted to an archduke, and I was given the authority to delegate the ownership of my dungeons to my subordinates.
I alone could not handle all the recurring tasks to maintain my dungeons, and they had been operating quite inefficiently.
It was time to improve the system.
Once I assigned the ownership of dungeons to one of my monsters, it would succeed the authorities as the owner.
Fairies of each dungeon had been much help in operating my dungeons, but that was not enough. The earlier I delegate, the quicker the dungeons would get better.
“Krithli, take this.”
“Isn’t this an item that you purchased in the auction?”
I handed her the Attitude of Puppeteer. Krithli was good at transforming dead bodies into undead beings, and this skill book would help her job.
“You are now in charge of the dungeon in China. And this is a gift for you. Do your best as a Dungeon Master from now.”
“I am… a Dungeon Master?”
Krithli seemed very surprised and her eyes widened.
“You deserve the position.”
Assigning the position of Dungeon Master was very simple. I needed to allow the delegation and give that person a sign of proof.
As soon as Krithli received the Attitude of Puppeteer, her authorities as a Dungeon Master were in effect.
[Krithli, the Dark Elf, was delegated the position of a Dungeon Master!]
[Krithli is very loyal. Status – unconditional dedication.]
[She will stand in the frontline and crush the enemies of her master, Archduke Randalf Bruciel.]
Krithli officially became my subordinate, and I was able to see her status.
I had other dungeons left, and I also had some other monsters, whom I had planned to assign as Dungeon Masters.
“Tashumal.”
“Are you going to give me a dungeon, too?”
Fluttering her wings, the angel asked me.
“Take charge of the dungeon in Japan. Nurture young angels and get strong there. There are no enemies around that dungeon, and it is the perfect place for that.”
I gave the “Echo of Gaznuck” to Tashumal.
It looked like a harp, and the item could play very powerful tools, depending on the type of mana that it contained. In particular, when angels and celestials used this item, its effect multiplied. Tashumal was a fallen angel, but she was an angel after all. I expected that she would enjoy the same advantages as other angels when she used this harp.
“I don’t mind it.”
Tashumal did not complain and accepted my gift, the Echo of Gaznuck.
[Tashumal, the fallen Angel, was delegated the role of Dungeon Master.]
[Tashumal is somewhat loyal. Status – the enemy’s enemy is an ally.]
[She will not mind using her power to help the Archduke Randalf Bruciel.]
