Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 143
Chapter 143: Episode 45. A Worthy Death (1)
There was no need to drag.
I removed all the restrictions. I opened my mana, and it released enormous shock waves. They were so strong that they began to engulf everything around me. All the monsters in the area were frightened. This was my presence and the power of my class.
It was similar to an area declaration. Titan, the highest of the high-grade monsters at level 2, even felt something strange and stepped back. He bent his body in a defensive position.
Depella and the other demons couldn’t hide how blindsided they were. They were in disbelief. I had not moved yet, but I could see that they were already gearing up for defense. They held their weapons.
They probably felt the stark increase in my level. It wouldn’t even compare to that of Archdukes. They could deny it all they want, but the reality could not be ignored.
I had gained a few insights from the Underworld. I had grown rapidly, and I got tremendous rewards when I left.
Besides, this was my dungeon. As soon as I returned, the dungeon recognized me and started operating normally. I was almost invincible in my dungeons.
I charged at the enemies while gripping Rage and the Sword of the Emperor. I used Moonlight Drop and instantly appeared in front of Depella and Titan.
I couldn’t tolerate their presence in my dungeon even for a moment. I could get rid of them quickly, but that instant was unpleasant for me. They could stay here for eternity if they wanted, as long as they were rotting corpses.
Boom!
Rage hit the massive body of Titan. Titan was thrown aback by the explosion. His body broke the wall of the dungeon.
“Argh!”
Titan stood up, shaking his head. He found it difficult to stand straight and staggered as he took one step. It seemed like he could not come to his senses at the sudden attack. There was a hole in the part of the armor that had been hit.
“Pride,” I muttered.
At that time, a black flame sprang up from my glove and covered my entire body. Rage and Sloth could raise or lower my status, but Pride was different.
Pride was flame. When it touched an enemy, it wouldn’t run out until the opponent died. However, if the opponent had high intelligence or counterattack skills, the effect might wear off.
But I already had a level higher in the stage of transcendence. Unless the opponent had a similar level with mine, that one would not be able to avoid it.
Whoosh!
I reached my hand and shoot the Flame of Pride to Titan.
“Argh! Argh!”
Titan was directly hit by the fire and groaned in pain. The flame penetrated his armor, and it swiftly spread all over his body.
“Seductive Kiss!”
When I was about to take Titan’s life, Depella attacked me. Dozens of mouths appeared around me and spewed special pheromones to enchant me.
The Flame of Pride came to my rescue and burned the pheromones. The skill was unable to touch me.
“Twilight Whip!”
The mouths that hovered around me spat out the whips and wielded them. It was such a bizarre scene, but it was nothing to me.
Crumble!
Rage was a strong weapon, but it was covered with Dark Sword and the mana of the Moon. It was possible to cut everything in the world, including Depella’s skills. The whips were cut off, and they could no longer be restored.
When Depella saw what just transpired, he couldn’t help but asked, “That power of the sword…what is your relationship with Ariel Diablo?”
“Don’t you dare compare me with her!”
Ariel Diablo’s Abyss Sword and my Dark Sword were similar. However, I didn’t want to be compared to or associated with anybody else. It was a skill that I had purchased legitimately from the Achievement Store with my points.
After I cut off all the whips and mouths around me, I charged at Depella. Even in the dark dungeon, the swordsmanship of Highendall shone. The soft mana of the Moon eroded Depella’s mana.
Depella was embarrassed. Seductive Kiss and Twilight Whip didn’t produce the results he desired. Originally, it was normal to have hundreds of lips and whips. However, the ones that I slashed could no longer be restored because I cut off the mana itself.
“Randalf Bruciel!”
Whoosh!
Depella gathered all his remaining mana into his lungs. I knew what skill he was going to use. It was his patent skill: ‘Breath of Darkness’.
Boom!
Soon, a dark fog poured out from Depella’s mouth. It flew towards me while corroding everything it touched.
I summoned the Lightning God. I gathered electricity and shot it with the Flame of Pride. The two forces combined and collided with the Breath of Darkness.
Rumble!
The dungeon shook. My flame and the Breath of Darkness struck each other, making loud noises for a moment.
“No! No way!”
It must have never occurred to Depella that his secret weapon could be easily defeated. My flame ate up his Breath of Darkness. Depella was at the end of the skill. It was quickly vanishing.
Crack!
Then the flames swallowed up Depella. Along with the Lightning God, they got rid of him without leaving a trace of what he once was. It was as if he never existed at all.
The other demons hesitated and took a step back.
“How the hell…?”
“Wasn’t he just a Count? I can’t believe his power!”
I blew Titan at once and even defeated Depella, the most powerful among them. He utilized everything in his power but was still overwhelmed. It wasn’t easy for them to accept that.
I was not the same Randalf Bruciel they knew. The only powers I had shown them were the high-grade monsters and points I had used from the auctions. It was the first time that they have actually witnessed my combat skills.
Unfortunately, they could not expect mercy from me. I would show them none. Well, no demon would. That was our nature.
The weak who coveted others’ stuff deserved to die.
Whoosh!
The Flame of Pride burned brighter.
Oswen and Maxium came to me with blood all over their bodies.
“I, Maxium, have punished the enemies in the name of Your Majesty.”
“I, Oswen, did the same.”
Maxium worked hard as if my order was God’s command, but Oswen seemed like did things half-assed. Then again, he followed me to ridicule the Hell Lord. Thus, he would keep following me as long as I went to a different path from the Hell Lord.
I knew that, so I just let him do whatever he pleased. Even though he had lost his four arms, he was still strong. Also, he was knowledgeable about a lot of things, and that would benefit me in the future.
However, I could not reward them for their labors yet. I was lost in thought when I heard a faint whisper.
“Dungeon…Master…”
It was Krathra. He looked up, holding his spear tight. There was no focus in his eyes. I could tell that he had lost his sight.
He was severely wounded. His vital was so low. He had fought hard.
It wasn’t just one or two times, but dozens of times. It was amazing that he even survived this long.
‘It’s too late,’ I thought.
In this state, he wouldn’t survive, even with an Elixir of life.
“Is it really you? Oh, Master. But it’s strange. I…I can’t see you…”
“Yes, it is me.”
“Ah…”
Krathra smiled. He knew he didn’t have much time. Death was taking him. But he was happy to know that his master had returned.
I recalled the first time I met him. He had been trapped in a cage, and, shortly after entering the dungeon, I had treated him and the Dark Elves as dogs.
Krathra was the one who most enthusiastically emulated me. He threw away his pride as a warrior to save Krithli, his stepsister and the queen.
When Krithli became alive and had a ritual with me, he was happy as if it was his business. He had followed me well and never let me down.
“Please…,” Krathra hardly opened his mouth to say something, but words escaped him. He was terribly weak. In spite of that, I knew what he wanted to tell me.
“Krathra, you’re weak. That’s why you are going to die,” I calmly said.
My words were heartless.
Krathra closed his eyes. His flame of life would soon leave him. It was just a matter of minutes before he stopped breathing.
So I uttered what Krathra had wanted to say, “I will make Krithli stronger than anyone else. She will never die in vain like you.”
“Th-thank…you…”
Thud!
Krathra’s hand dropped on the ground. His heart stopped beating. The flowing blood cooled quickly.
But the smile didn’t leave his face. He found comfort in my words.
I had no idea how he could still have that same amount of faith in me. I was not here for about a year and eight months.
Lyhee was sobbing. She lowered her head and wiped the tears away. She was terribly sorry to see Krathra die.
I looked down at Krathra and pondered, ‘You died because you were weak. But your death was not worthless.’
I turned around. “Bury his body next to the Tree of Origin. I will look over the dungeon on the top floor.”
<hr />
The dead monsters were buried near the Tree of Origin.
The process didn’t last long. The death of the monsters was a natural thing. It was better to plan for tomorrow than to dwell on grief.
Before I focused on full-scale planning, I needed to figure out the overall situation of the dungeon first.
“There is almost nothing left,” I told myself.
It was so terrible.
A huge number of monsters had perished. The only consolation was most of the high-grade monsters were fine. Although they were severely injured, they did not use all of their vitality like Krathra. They would be treated.
“The dungeons in China and Japan are safe.”
I confirmed they were still connected to the Korean dungeon. However, they were not attacked like the one in Korea. It looked like Pandemonium had only noticed my base dungeon.
I clicked my tongue and assessed the current situation. “I need to repair a lot of broken things to bring my dungeon back to normal.”
The urgent problem was the breeding species. My three years of effort were mostly gone. I would need an astronomical number of points to restore them.
‘At least, I got a huge number of points after escaping the Underworld,’ I thought.
I received numerous achievements. I realized that I hadn’t checked everything yet. Now was the best time to do it.
[Points: 38,799,344]
[Current achievement points: 29,158]
The points and achievement points were satisfactory. I would be able to make my dungeon stronger than before. Besides, the treasures of the Underworld were added to the Achievement Store. If I used the achievement points, things like this would never happen again.
“Status window.”
My status window soon emerged.
