Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 125
Chapter 125: Episode 36. Demon Predator (2)
“It seems like he became completely mental after he assimilated the souls.”
Originally, Oculus maintained a moderate position. He was not outstanding, and he did not do anything extraordinary. However, it looked like his personality had changed dramatically because his demons’ souls strongly affected him.
“If his new title is able to develop like mine, things will become more annoying. Also, he may do more crazy things if I do not end him.”
I could get the Remaining Statistics by hunting other demons and ruling more dungeons. So, it was possible that Oculus might get something by eating more demons.
If his title did not help him grow, I would able to fight against him. I really could not imagine what else he would do. I had to destroy him before he became something that I could not handle anymore.
I organized my thoughts and took one step forward.
“Follow me. We will destroy the enemy.”
A large group of monsters came out of the dungeon in China and began to move. Oculus’s dungeon was located in Brazil, South America, so we had to cross the ocean.
One Island Turtle that I had purchased a long time ago was not enough. So, I immediately bought another nine turtles.
They were big enough to be called small islands and 10 of them could carry 5,000 monsters.
“Stop! Warning! Don’t come any closer…”
The problem was the humans’ reaction to the march of a large number of monsters. Thousands of armed humans and several tanks blocked the way. Dozens of awakened people were also there.
It had already been three years, but humans still didn’t learn. They still didn’t know that they could not negotiate with monsters.
It would have been better to attack first or just run away than giving a warning like this. Rather, the loud voice only stimulated the monsters.
The faces of the humans were filled with tension. It seemed like they wouldn’t get out of the way. Guessing by their attitudes, there must be a big city near us.
“They are annoying.” I clicked my tongue.
If they just let us go, we would pass without any trouble. I could not understand why they invited trouble. Even if they brought ten times more of their current force, they could not defeat my monster troops.
It was their fate to be trampled upon. If they had evacuated rather than try to stop us, it would have ended up with only some broken buildings.
I did not want to waste my time here. I was about to order Griffin to take care of them, when the head of the Kur Warriors came to me.
“Master! We want to show you the power of the Kur Warriors!”
“I’ll leave it to you, then,” I accepted gladly.
If I used the Griffin, I could quickly clean the humans up. However, it was not bad to look at the combat power of the Kur Warriors.
With my permission, the Kur Warriors riled up their infernos.
“Giddy up!”
“Time to massacre!”
100 Kur Warriors on Infernos went forward. Infernos were large horses that were about 3 meters tall. Besides, Kur Warriors were also very large. An ordinary human had to look up to barely see their heads.
Boom! Boom, boom!
The tanks fired. The Kur Warriors had never encountered weapons like this before. So, one of the warriors fell from a horse. He fell down and his head struck the ground. But he got up and brushed the dirt off.
“If we were hit by that, it would hurt a little!”
I had no idea if he was just joking or if he really meant it. He let out a hearty laugh and went back to his Inferno. And the action that followed was surprising.
The Kur Warriors moved quickly and smoothly as if they were unified with the Infernos and charged at the humans. In the first place, they had hard skin that regular bullets could never penetrate. So, they were almost invincible in close combat.
Even the flames emitted from an Inferno were fatal for humans. It was called Hellfire, and it would not go out until the human body was all burnt up.
“This weapon is very good!” the head of the Kur Warrior shouted.
Indeed, the quality of the weapons was good as the Dwarking had made them. The weapons were made from the roots of the Tree of the Origin. They were mostly Unique grade and very sharp. With the superhuman strength of Kur Warriors, it was not hard at all to cut the tanks up.
The humans were wiped out in 20 minutes. It took somewhat longer, but it was because of their brutality. They had a habit of cutting off the dead bodies multiple times, to make sure they were really dead. That was why it took so long.
“Master! Slaughter is fun!”
“Yes, I can see that.”
I nodded. There was no damage to the Kur Warriors. There were some minor injuries, but their power was preserved.
“This isn’t all. The true strength of the Kur Warriors will appear when they deal with a strong enemy.”
They were a species specialized in fighting one strong enemy than many weak ones. That was the Kur Clan.
There was also a skill associated with that fact, called “Gathering (U).” It was a skill where when more Kurs gathered for one enemy, the more Strength and Power they could use.
“The Kur Warriors are strong!”
The Kur Warriors shouted out loudly, raising their giant swords. They were showing off. It was as if they were provoking other monsters by saying that they were best here.
“…”
Krithli realized that she would only be tired if she fought with them about that, so she decided to ignore them. On the other hand, Tashumal, who was wearing the Sturdy Faith, made a remark.
“Hmm, I can’t find any dignity in them.”
Her tone was harsh. She had been restless as soon as she had left the dungeon because she was concerned about the baby angels.
Tashumal with her three pairs of black wings spread wide looked charismatic. She had recovered her abilities, so she could even match the highest monsters.
I opened my Mind’s Eye to check her growth.
Name: Tashumal
Occupation: Fallen Angel
Title:

The Angel of Light, Succumbed to Darkness (Epic, Intelligence and Magic Power +6)
Sturdy Faith (R, Strength +3)

Capability:
Power 77 Intelligence 88(+6) Speed 83 Strength 79(+5) Mana 86(+8)
Potential (413+19/471)
Comments: Tashumal used to be a Dominion, who used to spread light to the world, but she has fallen. As a result, her statistics were reduced, but they are quickly recovering.
Skills: Spreading Darkness (Epic), Showers of Spears of Darkness (Epic), Thunders of Darkness (Epic)
[Progress Comparison]
Power 68 Intelligence 93 Speed 78 Strength 69 Mana 90 Potential (386+12/471)
Power 77 Intelligence 94 Speed 83 Strength 84 Mana 94 Potential (413+19/471)
She was wearing the helmet named Sturdy Faith. The helmet increased a total of 7 figures, Strength by five, and Mana by two. Her stats were more than 430 so she had already surpassed Gigantes or Griffin. This was almost as strong as the highest-grade monsters at level 2.
I wondered what the result would be if she fought the Kur Warriors, but now wasn’t the time for that.
“There is no time to delay. Let’s move!”
We walked out. I needed to stab Oculus’s back before he noticed.
Moving with Island Turtles was simple. They could move in the deep ocean, and they had the shield skill. So, without any interference, we could arrive in South America.
Of course, we had to pass one country to get to Brazil. I decided to go through Peru.
“Everything has been destroyed.”
Since they didn’t have a strong military force, I thought it would be easy to go through Peru. But it was beyond my imagination. There was no one to resist. In fact, there was nothing, not even a single ant.
All the cities were completely destroyed. The smell of burning flesh and rotten bodies filled the country. Peru became like this, even though there was no dungeon here. I guessed Oculus was the cause.
“My Dungeon Master, it smells so bad.”
Krithli pinched her nose. The smell of rotten bodies was worse than burned ones. It was hard for her superior senses.
We moved further. I said, “There is not a single human here.”
“Do you think Oculus did this?”
“Do you think so, too?”
“Yes. It looks like he was in a hurry. Maybe he wanted to get more points more quickly.”
The tragedy looked like it happened recently, possibly one or two months ago. It seemed like he had done this before he came to the auction. But was it really just for points?
“No. It’s not only for the points.”
When I said that Krithli tilted her head as if she was puzzled. “Then…?”
“Look at the bodies.”
The corpses were everywhere. They were eaten by bugs, rotten, burnt, or ruined, but anyway, there were tons of dead bodies.
“Oh…! None of them have heads!” She realized.
She just didn’t realize so far because she turned away because of the bad smell.
“They are sacrifices,” Tashumal said with a serious expression.
I agreed with her. “Right, Tashumal. They are sacrifices to summon something.”
I couldn’t imagine how many sacrifices there were. We had seen hundreds of thousands of bodies so far.
Krithli trembled, realizing that the scale was different. “Isn’t he an Archduke? How someone like that make all these sacrifices just for a summoning…”
He acted recklessly. He must have forgotten his pride, his position.
Archdukes had to be strong. And when I said strong, it did not mean only their abilities. They had to have pride and dignity. However, “offering” sacrifice to someone meant he lowered himself.
Moreover, sacrificing something did not guarantee the successful summoning of anything. Summoning needed a lot of knowledge.
“Oculus is insane right now. It would not be strange even if he did worse than this.”
“Yes, he is really out of his mind,” Krithli was disgusted.
Soul assimilation, eating other demons, and a summoning ritual.
Judging by the scale of the ritual, what he summoned must not be underestimated.
“It won’t be easy.”
I should stop him.
Oculus was tarnishing the reputation of Archdukes. I did not want him to be like this. I had hoped he would fight me as his honorable self, deserving of his reputation. However, Oculus, at the moment, was far from what I hoped.
A fight between a predator and a hunter.
I clenched my fists.
It would be difficult, but I didn’t have the intention to lose the fight.
On the wide plains, hundreds of thousands of human heads were skewered on poles.
It was surely cruel. Oculus grinned as he looked at the scene.
Soon, a magic circle was invoked on the plains, and a huge mountain-like shadow appeared.
“Who summoned me from ‘Nothingness?’ ”
Nothingness.
It was a place nobody knew, and nobody could explain.
And a shadow was summoned from there.
“Nice to meet you. I am the one who summoned you,” Oculus said as he looked at the shadow.
Then, the shadow of Nothingness turned its gaze. “Are those heads my prey?”
“Yes. Eat your fill.”
“I am not satisfied, but I won’t refuse since there are a lot.”
Boom!
It was just a shadow, but it was not a normal shadow. When it moved, the land around it shook. Then, the shadow expanded and swallowed up the entire plain.
All the heads disappeared in an instant moment.
“Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!” Oculus laughed loud.
Since the shadow accepted the sacrifices, it meant that the ritual was done.
There were not many who knew about Nothingness and the beings in there. Oculus was one of them, and he was well aware of what terrifying beings existing in there.
He was sure; the victory was his.
