Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 121
Chapter 121: Episode 34. Flesh and Bones (2)
Boooom!
Giant Worm stretched out. A huge hole appeared in front of the dungeon and thousands of monsters were pouring out of it.
“For God’s sake!”
There was a demon leading numerous monsters in front. It was Azumun, one of Oculus’s demons.
His soul was already assimilated with the other 12 demons. So, the other demons could see through his eyes. He referred to his main body, Oculus, as “God.” In a way, it was as if he was holding himself in similar regard, since Azumun had become Oculus’s alter ego now.
It looked like he was one with the others, but not completely assimilated yet. Azumun’s mind was still present. As time went by, that little bit of consciousness would disappear as well, but for now, he could still think individually.
Krrrrk, krrrrrk!
A large number of Orcs appeared at the entrance of the dungeon. Wheezy, the fairy of the dungeon, sensed danger and sent them out. However, the Orcs alone were not enough to prevent this invasion.
“Blame your master.”
Azumun pulled out a green bow. As he drew the bowstring, a strong wind blew. But the sound of arrow striking or explosion as the bowstring was released could not be heard at all.
Krrrk?
Instead, air bubbles formed on the shoulders of the Orcs. They tried to hurriedly remove them with their hands, but the air bubbles didn’t disappear. Rather, the air bubbles just got bigger.
Boom!
And they burst loudly. But that was not the end. Monsters made of green vines appeared from the bodies of the Orcs, tearing them apart.
“Our God wants to dominate this dungeon. Accept it.”
Kiyeeek!
The green monsters started to bite everything around them. Soon afterward, thousands of monsters behind Azumun rushed out. The full-scale invasion began.
The top floor of the Chinese dungeon. Wheezy’s face blushed and she was restless.
“Wheezy! Wheezy! Those bad guys! It’s a foul to bring that many monsters!”
The monster troop and Azumun were sweeping everything in their way and were heading towards the top floor. There were many of them and they were powerful.
The dungeon in China had just begun to settle, so it was a very harsh attack. There were only a few low-grade monsters such as Orcs, Gargoyles. So, there was no way they could stop the invasion.
“Lyhee, that wicked b*tch! I asked her for help, but she ignored me! Wheezy! She is such a bad girl!”
Wheezy was scared. When the double contract was made, the fairy could become “extinct” if the Dungeon Core broke.
So, she had to give up her pride and asked for help. However, Lyhee did not answer her.
The enemy marched fast. Wheezy tried hard to defend, but at this speed, they would arrive at the top floor in less than an hour.
“Wheezy, wheezy… Sob!”
She was horrified. Tears and snot were all over her face. Actually, Wheezy was quite a timid one among the fairies. The reason why she was usually mad at the others was to disguise this fact.
“Sob! Sniffle! I don’t want to disappear! I don’t want to!”
Wheezy wiped her tears with the back of her hands and threw a tantrum.
A fairy could not die. Even if it received a severe blow, it would just return to nature. After an eternity, it could get back its ego as a fairy again. There was no guarantee that its original ego would recover, but still, it wouldn’t die.
However, extinction was a different concept. It would deprive the fairy of all opportunities. There was no way to recover…
She felt instinctively scared. She managed to turn her head to look at the hologram floating above the Dungeon Core.
The numerous red dots had reached the 28th floor. The Chinese dungeon consisted of 29 floors, and now only one floor was left.
“Lyhee, such a bad girl! I hate Master, too!”
“Is that so?”
“…?”
A voice was suddenly heard.
Wheezy turned towards the voice and her eyes widened.
Suddenly, a teleportation magic circle appeared around the Dungeon Core. And the person who appeared through it was someone that Wheezy was very happy to see.
He was the ruler of the three dungeons, the Dungeon Master!
He showed up with strong monsters.
“How is the current status with the enemies?”
Wheezy replied unconsciously. “They have reached… the 28th floor.”
“I came just in time, then.”
“M-Master. Can you stop them?”
“Of course, I can,” the Dungeon Master laughed cruelly. “I will kill all the bastards who stepped into my dungeon.”
Previously, I had thrown Oculus’ arm in front of my Chinese dungeon. Oculus must have found the location of the dungeon through that arm. Otherwise, there was no reason for him to hit this place first.
If Oculus wanted to invade while I was gone, it would make more sense to go for the dungeon that could cause the most damage to me, which would be the Korean one. But he came to China and that meant that he mistook the Chinese Dungeon as my headquarters.
My strategy to fool him actually worked. The strong demon and about two thousand monsters were enough force to rob an empty house.
“Azumun, no, should I call you Oculus?”
“He is my God. I am Azumun. His faithful believer.”
I faced Azumun and his monsters near the entrance to the 29th floor. The number on Azumun’s side was overwhelming. But, in terms of quality, I was superior to him.
“It seems like the assimilation hasn’t been completed.”
I didn’t know much about soul assimilation but, there was no focus in Azumun’s eyes. He looked distracted, gaze switching from one spot to another.
It looked like Oculus and his demons were watching the situation as well through his eyes.
When I clicked my tongue, Azumun said, “This raid is supposed to be perfect. How the hell did you figure it out?”
“You mean, your obvious plan to seize the opportunity while I was in the auction?”
“If it was that obvious, you would have prepared for it. But it seems like you hurriedly came here. Then, victory will be with me.”
“Well, you will find out soon enough,” I smirked.
The saying “No one can beat quantity” only worked for the weak. Even if there were only a few, if they were truly strong, the number of enemies did not matter. Most of all, the raid was detected, so there was no way it would succeed.
“Randalf Bruciel, you cannot join our evolution. Our God does not want that.”
“You can enjoy all the evolution yourself. The fact that I am a hunter who’s going to eat you up will never change!”
I pulled out Rage.
Kuaaang!
At the same time, Lightning God came out and howled.
Azumun held his bow and quickly shot his skills at me.
“Is it because of the assimilation? He seems a little bit stronger.”
The skill itself was not a big threat to me. Intelligence was the factor related to anti-mana power, and mine was 93. I was immune to quite a few skills.
But his speed was remarkable. Due to the soul assimilation, his power seemed to be enhanced. If this also happened with Oculus, it would be very troublesome.
“Sure! You also crossed the line. But this is your end!” Azumun shouted.
“That sounds like what Oculus would say, not you, Azumun. I guess you are starting to lose your own identity, right?”
“Shut up!”
Whoosh!
A magic arrow passed right by me. It scratched my cheek and bubbles formed. I frowned as I touched the bubbles. I just dug out the bubbles because I felt something trying to grow from it.
It wasn’t a big blow, but it would not be wise to let him keep hitting me.
If I could use either Rage or Sloth skills, things would be much easier. However, as I had collected all three items of the set, they had disappeared. I did not know what “Depravity” was. But I knew it was not a skill that I need to use to handle a weak demon like Azumun.
“His right side is poor at defense.”
Azumun moved his right arm as if it was uncomfortable. Since I had cut Oculus’ right arm, it looked like he was getting the effect from it.
A weak point. It would be wise to take advantage of it in order to win faster.
“Dark Sword.”
My sword darkened. It was a skill that could cut everything and prevent wounds from healing.
Slash!
I cut through the arrow. Then, I circled to the right to aim at his weak point.
“You bastard…!”
Azumun obviously knew what I was doing. But it was impossible to stop even if he knew. Plus, I wasn’t the only one aiming for Azumun.
Boom!
When Azumun focused all his courage to attack me with moves that he was not familiar with, Lightning God flew fast Azumun’s left ankle.
“Arrgg!”
He tried to dodge it, but his ankle had already disappeared. Azumun twisted his body and collapsed. I approached and looked down on him.
“Azumun, Oculus. You are only my prey. And preys could never win over the hunter.”
“Don’t be too cocky that you’ve gained an advantage. This is just the beginning!”
“I have the same thought. This is just the beginning.”
Slash!
I cut off his other ankle.
“Arggg!”
“Now, you’re balanced.”
Once I completely blocked him from escaping, I looked around.
Indeed. My monsters were overcoming the overwhelming difference in numbers. Two thousand monsters could not pass my troops of less than a hundred.
Of course, my monsters could become dangerous if I left them be. So, I had to get in and change the mood.
The power of an absolute being was beyond anyone’s imagination.
Two thousand monsters stepped back as I appeared. Since Azumun, who was supposed to command them, had collapsed. So they could not help but lose the motivation to fight.
Kuaaang! Kuaaaaang!
The frightened Ogres quickly left the battlefield. Hundreds of monsters followed them to escape. In an instant, Azumun lost most of his fighting power. The only ones left were the weak ones.
“This is a waste of time. Go and clean them up.”
“Please leave it to me, Dungeon Master. I will clean them up within 10 minutes.”
Krathra wielded his spear.
“I will. Clean!”
The energetic Gigantes swung its club as well and knocked out the enemies. A wave of mana swept over the monsters every time he moved his club.
In this fight, five Golems were left incapacitated, but besides that, I had no other damage. It was because I had taken care of Azumun as quickly as possible.
It took less than 10 minutes to clean up the remaining monsters.
Krathra plunged his sword into the last Troll’s neck and knelt to me. He was covered in blood, but it seemed like he did not care at all.
“All of the enemies have been wiped out, sir.”
“Lead the remaining troops and get rid of fleeing monsters. There are too many of them for Krithli to handle alone.”
The only troops that Krithli had brought were the Saber Tigers. Even though the White Tiger and Black Tiger were there, it seemed a bit tough for her.
“I will move immediately.”
Krathra led Gigantes, the Lich, and the Golems downstairs. Soon there were only corpses around me.
“There is one still alive.”
I corrected myself. It wasn’t only corpses.
Azumun, who had lost both ankles was still lying on the ground, passed out.
He was bleeding a lot. Since he lost quite a lot of blood, I assumed he might only have 10 minutes left to live.
I approached Azumun and roughly grabbed his head.
Wham!
As I slapped his cheek, his head lolled. I repeatedly slapped his face, and Azumun finally opened his eyes.
“Argh…”
“Wake up, Azumun.”
“Just… kill me…”
He struggled to speak.
I could pity for him and kill him for mercy. Unfortunately, I had no intention of doing so.
I whispered in Azumun’s ear, “No. You can’t die yet until you feel the pain of a soul being torn.”
If I attacked Azumun, would it affect Oculus?
I was very curious.
Although Azumun was just an alter ego of Oculus, since their souls were assimilated, it might affect Oculus.
I laughed as I imagined Oculus suffering through the pain of bone-breaking and flesh-tearing.
Azumun trembled as he watched me laugh.
