Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 111
Chapter 111: Episode 31. Party (3)
Yoo Eunhye repeatedly emphasized. But for me, I just could not understand. The killed mood quickly got back to normal. People held each other’s hands and danced, or drank wine, or talked to each other. But I still had a set look on my face.
“Human parties seem a little different from what I know.”
Exactly. The reason why I had been feeling out of place so far was because the definition of “party” was different than what I knew. I had no idea that a party would be a place full of laughter.
I had never participated in a human party. I did not even know what that was. That was why I let Yoo Eunhye coach me. She had told me that I had to follow the basic “rules” at least. But the party was just a place where people danced and talked. I was so disappointed.
I was born on the battlefield of Devildom. It was a very desolate place, but low-level demons still lived well there. The party that was held once a year was so great that it was considered the salvation of life.
“Leader! Where are you going?”
Yoo Eunhye’s eyes were wide open. The guild masters who wanted to talk to me seemed puzzled as I moved away. But I did not pay attention to them and walked towards the young man who was still frowning.
Ilsung Group was a leading company in Korea. If this young man was the only son of president Sung of that company, it was understandable why he was so arrogant and impudent. Since he had nothing to be scared of, he would behave pompously. He would not care about the guild masters or the big five guilds of Korea, either.
He was probably used to being flattered by people. I hate those kinds of people. The Count Bruciel that I had killed in Devildom had a similar personality to this young man. He was a guy who was incompetent but was boisterous because of his “good lineage.” When such a guy ruled, people under him had to suffer. If he was my ally, I would exclude him, and if he was my enemy, I would laugh at him.
“I hunted an Orc myself yesterday, and it was so loud. It finally became quite after I cut its neck.”
“Mr. Gyutaek, did you really hunt an Orc all by yourself? Wow. It looked so scary. I could not have caught it.”
“Wow.”
It seemed like his name was Sung Gyutaek. He was too busy talking about his heroic exploits.
“Those kinds of monsters can’t be my enemies. Next, I will send an attack unit and challenge the fifth floor. You guys know about the fifth floor, right?”
“Yes. I heard that there are Mud Golems or Harpies. Even the Devil Hunter team had a hard time there. Don’t overdo it.”
“What? Catching those things is not overdoing it. Are you kidding me? If the Devil Hunter did it, I can do it, too. My guild crew is much stronger than the ones who became famous just because they were lucky.”
He boasted without shame. What did he say? The Devil Hunter raid team became famous just because they got lucky? The woman talking to him could do nothing but broke out in cold sweat. However, Sung Gyutaek’s arrogance is short-lived. As I got closer, everyone, regardless of gender, looked at me.
“Oh…”
The ladies, who were playing along with Sung Gyutaek, seemed to know that they had made a mistake. They were awakened heroes as well. Furthermore, they knew about the position of Devil Hunter these days. Nevertheless, they played along with him because he was Sung Gyutaek. There could be no other reason.
As I approached them, Sung Gyutaek also looked at me. He frowned as if he did not like this situation and asked, “What…? Argh!”
Wham!
But he could not finish his sentence, only managing to yell out in pain. And everyone stared at us with wide eyes. Because the one and only precious child of President Sung laid on the floor, bleeding from both nostrils. And it happened at a party in his very own house, so the effect was magnanimous. Everyone was curious about the incident. But no one said anything.
“You bastard!” Sung Gyutaek got up while wiping his nose with the back of his hand. He was blushing, and he already had a sword in his right hand.
“Now, it’s fun,” I smiled.
The party that I was familiar with was a bloody competition where people competed with each other. Once a year, on that one day, everyone on the battlefield became equal. Anyone could ask to fight a higher demon, and if that demon won, he could take the position of the loser. If someone refused to fight, all the demons around him would attack him to death.
I didn’t expect the humans to be as evil, but at least, I had expected similar things to happen, and they did not. So, I had to spoil the mood. At last, I could enjoy the party.
“What? Fun?” Sung Gyutaek was enraged.
Well, he had probably never been treated like this before. He pointed a sword at me, but he did not take the next step.
Boom!
“Oh – oh?”
Sung Gyutaek lost his balance and fell. Still, it seemed like he didn’t understand why he fell. After he felt severe pain on the back of his head, he realized that I had punched him. He looked so confused, but soon, he passed out.
Schwing!
The people who were loitering near Sung Gyutaek drew their swords. They were the members of his guild.
“We will not forgive your act of violence anymore.”
“Act of violence? If you can’t forgive me, then try to stop me.”
I laughed, my teeth showing. They could feel that I was still relaxed and that I did not care about them at all. The awakened heroes here knew I was the strong one. Well, except people like Sung Gyutaek. The tension was high. More people drew out their swords.
“Even if you are the leader of the Devil Hunter, you will not be able to defeat this many people!”
“You think so?”
I stomped the floor. All of the awakened heroes who pointed their sword to me were just lame. Also, there were only a few dozens of them. It would be enough to show a bit of my real power.
If the party was not fun, I could just make it enjoyable.
Everyone was shocked watching the scene unfold. Dozens of awakened heroes lost to one man. It took less than 5 minutes and the man didn’t look tired at all. The people who were watching were awed by my moves, their mouths hung open like hippos.
“STOP!”
When the show was over, many bodyguards showed up at the entrance. And a paunchy man with white hair stood in front of them and shouted. He looked at the awakened heroes and his son, lying on the floor. He beckoned for a bodyguard to check his son. But even though he confirmed that his son was safe, his anger still prevailed.
“Who the hell are you? Why are you making a disturbance?”
But he did not attack me right away. That was a smart choice.
“I am Randalf. The unit leader of the Devil Hunter.”
Kim Yongwoo covered his face with his hands. President Sung clenched his fist.
“You’ve been a little famous lately, but it doesn’t give you a free pass for what you just did. If you don’t explain why you did it, you won’t be able to get out of here alive!”
The bodyguards quickly pulled out their guns. Having guns would be illegal, but it was what it was. Covertly and overtly, many people carried guns. Moreover, he was the president of a company, so it wasn’t strange that his bodyguards would be carrying guns. But things like guns could not hurt me at all.
“Let’s just say, I didn’t like the party.”
“… What?”
“I am saying that this is not the time for laughing and chattering.”
Stomp.
I took one step closer. The tension became higher.
“Korea, no, the world, is on the road to doom. Soon, there will be a great disaster that cannot be compared to catching an Orc. But people who have to take action just drink alcohol, sing songs and dance in this luxurious house. And no one pointed out this problem. I feel nothing but grief.”
I clicked my tongue. My interview had been broadcasted to the world, and I had said that a monster wave would occur soon. There was no way that president Sung had not heard about it. But still, he hosted a party for people to just have fun.
At this busy time, he had invited everyone who was supposed to be busy planning and warning others about the dungeon. This place might have been referred to as the meeting venue, but that was not true. It was useless at the moment.
“Didn’t you know about it? Or are you pretending to have no idea? Korea is on a cliff. The angel appeared, the monsters gathered, and it has only been a few months since the last monster wave. We should not forget about the people who lost their lives in Saudi Arabia. In the coming months, no, maybe in a few days, there will be another monster wave. Do you think we can survive from it?”
If it happened, so many people would die. This was not the time for a party. People had to tighten their belts and brace for battle. Everyone became silent. The better the people knew about the situation, the more they looked sad. The people represented here were the masters of the guild. I took another step closer.
“We don’t have enough time to prepare and get ready. We don’t have the luxury to waste our time in places like here, just rejoicing. I saw with my own eyes the sign of the monster wave in the dungeon. If I can’t stop that from happening, I will even jump into the fire. I came here, wanting to find someone who would join me in fighting this… But I am just disappointed.”
Kyaaaooo—!
The Lightning God, in its dragon form, howled. Everyone was overwhelmed. Many people were surprised. The Lightning God. There was controversy over the identity of the dragon, which horrified the monsters when the angels had appeared. It looked like no one had not guessed that I was its owner. I took one more step forward and stood in front of President Sung.
I said, “Get out of my way. I have no business with complacent people.”
<hr />
Meanwhile, Lyhee was poking the Flesh hard.
“Hey, hey. What are you hiding from Lyhee?”
Since she upgraded to the Spirit of Origin, Lyhee could sense the essence of things more reliably. And while playing with the Flesh, she realized that there was “something” hidden in it.
“Just tell me. I won’t hurt you.”
Poke! Poke!
When she pocked the Flesh harder, it twitched. But it did not reveal the thing it was hiding.
“Bah. Hey, you. If you keep acting like that, I have another plan.”
Lyhee, who had decided to cut its stomach by force, went back to the Tree of Origin. The idea of seeking opinions from the dungeon master had disappeared a long time ago. There, she asked the Tree of Origin and got herself one of the sharpest and hardest branches.
“If you want to say something, say it now. He-he-he. Otherwise, you will be hurt!”
Wiggle!
The Flesh, instinctively aware of the threat to its life, began to move faster. But there was no way to escape from Lyhee.
“Hey, you. Flesh. You brought it onto yourself. Lyhee is not at fault for this.”
Lyhee grabbed the sharp branch in her hand. It was one of the branches that the Tree of Origin had kept hidden. Cutting the Flesh and taking out what it was hiding would be easy-peasy.
Stab!
With a cruel smile, Lyhee stabbed the branch into the center of the Flesh. But she could not cut the stomach. Because as soon as she stabbed it, a bright light poured out from the center of the Flesh.
Whoosh!
