Dungeon Hunter - Chapter 108
Chapter 108: Episode 30. Dungeon Destruction (3)
Tens of thousands of people entered the dungeon. Out of all these people, only a handful united for the goal of conquering the dungeon. The others dispersed and chased different goals. And out of all the people that entered the dungeon, only a few thousand survived.
Perhaps the word “survive” did not quite fit the situation.
The monsters were not easy to deal with. It was not impossible to fight them, but men could only confront them had they been united and worked together. When a full-fledged battle started, several guilds from China, including the Dark Society, abandoned the battlefield. They thought that the battle was hopeless, and they fled deeper into the dungeon.
“Sons of bitches!”
The remaining awakened heroes swore.
The guilds from China pretended as though they were following them. In reality, they were merely using them for their own purpose.
The Dark Society cunningly escaped the battlefield and advanced to the upper levels of the dungeon. They wanted to take all the items and goods, kill the remaining monsters, and monopolize everything.
They gave their word, but they did not keep their promise. The awakened heroes had vaguely felt that the Dark Society would eventually betray them at some point. Having a vague feeling and accepting the reality was different. When the guild actually abandoned them, those who were left behind became furious.
The betrayal was somewhat foreseeable. After all, the awakened heroes came from all kinds of different backgrounds, such as different countries and races. Moreover, they met each other for the first time during this quest. It was almost impossible for the awakened heroes, who had gathered just for this conquest, to trust each other. The “trust” was nothing more than wishful thinking. Some of them were enemies to each other.
Soldiers also worked for their respective countries and interests. It was obvious that the divided forces would get crushed by the monsters.
The monsters and the demon were overwhelmingly powerful, and they looked almost like gods to the people.
The awakened heroes and soldiers wanted to give up and retreat. However, it was too late. Monsters from all directions surrounded them. If they wanted to retreat, they should have made the decision earlier like some guilds did, especially the Dark Society!
There was no hope. The awakened heroes also knew that. They could feel the urgency of the situation and that they would all die pretty soon.
The awakened heroes could only hear screams. No hero had any hope left to encourage each other.
“I want to go home…”
Many of the awakened heroes’ limbs were chopped off and their intestines spilled out. They started to panic, losing grip of their weapons. The soldiers and awakened heroes were on the verge of complete destruction. They could not think of any way to turn the table.
Slash!
Everyone was in great despair. Then, something happened.
Someone was approaching them from the entrance, slaughtering the monsters.
The man was dark-skinned and wielded a red spear.
It was Krathra!
In the blink of an eye, Krathra killed dozens of monsters and made his way through to the awakened heroes and soldiers.
The heroes and soldiers had never seen anyone like that.
They questioned if anyone could destroy monsters like that. However, they stopped questioning themselves soon. They were in the middle of a battle, and it was not the best time to start asking questions.
“There is a way!”
The awakened heroes and soldiers needed to decide whether to continue fighting or retreat.
“Retreat! Retreat!”
The soldiers escaped the battlefield first.
They now had a sense of how strong their enemies were. The soldiers would get stronger and return to the dungeon in the future.
When the soldiers from Saudi Arabia left the battlefield, the awakened heroes started to flee as well.
The spearman, who came to rescue, was strong, but that was all he was. He could not turn the table alone. The spearman could not invigorate anyone.
Unfortunately, not everyone could run away from the battle.
Those who were in the frontline, which included some Koreans, some wounded, and a few guilds, could not leave the battlefield.
They were forsaken.
There was no hope, and death was waiting for them.
However, something miraculous happened.
Tip-tap.
Tip-tap.
A man with a sword appeared.
He was wearing a skeleton mask.
The man walked through the pathway that the spearman had paved through the monsters earlier.
Somehow the air around him was very hazy. His appearance suddenly grabbed everyone’s attention.
The man looked around the battlefield and raised his hand.
Boom!
When he raised his hand, lightning, in the shape of a dragon, soared, and it struck the master of the dungeon.
Yoo Eunhye’s mouth fell open. She could not believe what was seeing.
The man looked very familiar to someone that she knew. The way he swung his sword was exactly the same, and she doubted her eyes.
“Unit leader…!” Yoo Eunhye thought.
Unfortunately, she could not speak at all because of her deep injury. However, she mustered all her energy to look. She looked at the man over and over again.
She could not be mistaken.
The man was blurry, and Yoo Eunhye could only see his silhouette. However, even from the man’s silhouette, Yoo Eunhye could tell that the man was confident.
This man came to their rescue when there was no hope. He was also a mentor to Yoo Eunhye and the Guild of Heaven’s Will in the past.
In desperate times, the man led everyone, eliminated monsters, and became the leader of the Guild of Heaven’s Will. Furthermore, he also helped Yoo Eunhye solve her problem.
The man’s name was Randalf Bruciel.
He was dead, or that was what everyone thought. He was seriously injured when he was sucked into a dungeon with an angel. Everyone, even Yoo Eunhye, believed that he had died.
During his memorial service, Yoo Eunhye cried. Randalf and Yoo Eunhye knew each other for only about a year, but Randalf was always a leader to Yoo Eunhye; she wanted to follow him. He expanded her limits and horizons. Even though he was gone, Yoo Eunhye believed that Randalf would somehow magically return someday and lead her again.
Deep in her heart, Yoo Eunhye believed that Randalf would return when everyone had started to forget about him. However, such a thought never occurred to her.
Surprisingly, her wish came true.
He had returned.
Randalf was alive and he was now standing in the middle of the battlefield.
Just like how he had done in the past, he came to rescue everyone when they were in desperate need of help.
The man had always been stoic, and he was no different this time.
The skeleton mask covered half of his face, so Yoo Eunhye could only imagine the other half. He must be smiling very coldly. He would then solve everything as though they were no problem to him at all.
“Take it. This is a potion that is too precious for you, but you must follow your master’s order. I am giving you this potion as an order. Use this potion to cure yourself and the boy next to you.”
Soon, Krathra, wielding the red spear, was standing next to her. She had seen him a few times; he also followed the unit leader. Krathra handed a potion, on which a small leaf was floating, to her. The potion looked unusual.
It was one of the best potions made out of the Leaves of Origin.
The potion was not as good as elixirs, but the recovering ability was outstanding. Even if the user of the potion was torn into two pieces, so long as the user was alive, the potion could put the pieces together.
Yoo Eunhye took the potion. Then she cured Edward first, because Edward’s injury was more serious than hers.
When she poured the potion, the wounds recovered in the blink of an eye. She was very surprised at such a fast recovery, but she pretended otherwise.
“…Can we win the battle?”
“Your question is not worth an answer.”
Krathra turned around.
Then he joined the battle.
He was cold, but he did give Yoo Eunhye an answer.
“Yes, he is correct. There is no way that Randalf could lose. And of course, there is no need to tell me that,” Yoo Eunhye thought.
Yoo Eunhye started to smile. She was pouring the potion onto the side of her body, but she could not feel any pain.
It had been rough so far. Yoo Eunhye tried her best to fill the gap that Randalf left, but it was not easy. She also could not control herself.
“Thank you for returning alive,” she thought.
“You are…!”
Fagan Grewoolly’s eyes widened. He must have recognized me and Krathra.
It did not matter, though. I had already worked things out so that anyone outside this battlefield did not know of my coming to the rescue. I surrounded the dungeon with my monsters, and I sent some of my strongest monsters and the White Tiger into the dungeon. By now, they would have reached the top floor of the dungeon.
Guardians, who were guarding the Dungeon Core, would be a piece of cake for my monsters.
Humans could be a problem, but I was going to have that problem anyway at some point.
I would not reveal my full strength, but I could not go easy on Fagan Grewoolly. Therefore, I let Kim Yongwoo do the cleanup, and I decided to confront him myself.
A large number of humans had escaped the battle. The number of people remaining was less than a thousand. And half of them were Koreans. I would be able to silence them to some extent.
Of course, not all the remaining humans would leave the dungeon alive.
“It has been a while.”
I smiled coldly.
I was wearing an item, which could distort the surrounding and block noises. The name of the item was “Strange Echo,” and it was a ring of rare grade. Only those who had seen me before could recognize me because of this item. Thanks to the ring, no one could hear my conversation with the demon.
Slash!
I swung Rage, which was now black.
Fagan Grewoolly barely dodged the attack and spoke.
“Why are you here? In fact, why are you helping humans?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. You are my sole target, Fagan Grewoolly.”
I continued my attack. I swung my sword and Grewoolly used his fingernails. It was a tight fight.
However, we looked very different. Grewoolly suddenly frowned.
“How dare you!”
“Nonsense. You are blinded by your past glory, and you don’t know who you are now. You are nothing more than my prey now.”
I opened the Mind’s Eye. Soon, a status window popped up.

Fagan Grewoolly had gotten better compared to what he had been in the past. He had obtained some titles, and his skills had improved.
However, my statistics were better than his. The Sword of the Emperor had stimulated the heart of the Hell Lord, which increased my intelligence by two. Furthermore, I had drunk tea made out of the leaves of the Tree of World for a longer time. The tea also increased my intelligence by two. As a result, my intelligence point was pretty good.
“You filthy little monster! All you can do is talk talk talk! Fine, Fagan Grewoolly here will show you who the prey is.”
Grewoolly’s body started to change; he used one of his skills, which was the Last Wolf (epic).
Grrr!
Fagan Grewoolly soon transformed into a blue wolf and started howling. The wolf was about three meters long.
It was ready to attack.
I took out another sword.
It was the Sword of the Emperor, which was glowing brightly gold.
I was not used to wielding two swords at once. However, the Sword of the Emperor had its own ego, and this ego helped me use two swords conveniently. I did not feel like I was using the sword; instead, I felt as though the sword had come to me.
The sword had another indestructible option.
The longer I used the sword, the more it would stimulate the heart of the Hell Lord.
Because of this feature, I had to use this sword from now on, whether I liked it or not.
“You are a good sparring partner.”
I spoke silently and charged towards Fagan Grewoolly, who was now a wolf.
I was not familiar with using two swords at the same time. Furthermore, I could not go full-fledged on the duel. Despite these, the fight was not hard. I was winning the battle; Krathra was helping me by my side, and the remaining awakened heroes were combating the monsters.
The heroes and soldiers also saw that I was starting to win the battle. They became hopeful and fought even fiercer. Thanks to their efforts, the fight with Fagan Grewoolly did not make me nervous at all; I was rather enjoying it.
Unless the enemy was an archduke or at least two dukes, he or she could not beat me.
Soon, a message window popped up.
[Amazing achievement! You destroyed a dungeon of a duke, “Fagan Grewoolly!”]
[You earned Remaining Statistics of one point.]
[You will be rewarded 1.5 million points.]
[You will also receive 1,100 achievement points.]
The White Tiger and other monsters that I sent had successfully destroyed the dungeon.
Grewoolly’s dungeon had already lost its barrier, so it was useless, even if I tried to recycle it. It would take too long for the dungeon to recover. In the meantime, other demons might try to invade the dungeon, just like how I did. Even humans could take over the dungeon. Therefore, it was not economical to invest any more points on this dungeon.
Grr…!
Fagan Grewoolly freaked out.
He had his strongest monsters guard his dungeon. The duke must have been surprised that his dungeon, which he thought was being safely guarded, was conquered so easily.
Boom! Boom!
The dungeon started to collapse.
The rocks on the ceiling began falling, threatening anyone underneath.
However, Fagan Grewoolly did not look away; he tried to attack once more with his teeth.
Grrr!
I did not avoid his attack.
I was rather glad that he attempted to attack me once more. Grewoolly was cornered, and he would push himself to his limit to attack. Defending myself against such a desperate enemy would be a priceless experience for me, which would help me become better.
“Fagan Grewoolly, you will die here today.”
I was cornering him, and the end was near.
Boom!
Fagan Grewoolly fell over.
He lost one of his legs, and his heart was pierced.
The duke transformed back from the shape of a wolf to that of a demon. The dead remained silent.
[Amazing achievement! You successfully hunted a duke, “Fagan Grewoolly!”]
[You gained Remaining Statistics of one point.]
[You will be rewarded 1.5 million points.]
[You will also receive 1,100 achievement points.]
Similar message windows popped up again.
Then Krathra cut Fagan Grewoolly’s throat with his spear. The duke was good at recovering, and Krathra cut his throat to make sure that he would not be able to recover.
Grewoolly’s head, which was just cut, rolled on the floor.
“Hmm…”
Krathra and I were both heavily injured, too. Had my health point been a bit smaller, I could have died during the battle.
During the fight, I wanted to make Fagan Grewoolly push himself to his limit. At the same time, I wanted to practice wielding two swords at once, so I also pushed myself to my limit. The more dangerous and fierce the battle was, the better I would get at my skills. Such was the lesson that I learned during my previous life when I encountered numerous combats.
“Unit leader!”
The members of the Guild of Heaven’s Will, which included Yoo Eunhye and Kim Yongwoo, approached me.
Members of other guilds, who were safe and sound, also came close to me.
However, I stretched my arms and prevented them from coming closer.
“Ah…”
At the same time, monsters, which included the White Tiger, the Black Tiger, Saber Tigers, Spartoi, and others, appeared on the other side.
The awakened heroes and soldiers froze at the sight.
Everyone was heavily injured, including the awakened heroes and myself.
They thought that they had no hope, should there be another fight.
I raised my two swords and moved. Then I stepped in front of the members of my guild, guarding them from the monsters.
There was a short moment of pause.
Then the monsters bit, swung claws at, and killed the awakened heroes who were not standing at my side.
“We must help them!”
“Do not move. If we do, we will have more casualties.”
Yoo Eunhye was about to go and help the others.
She bit her lips and rolled her feet. Attempting to help the others would indeed result in more casualties. Yoo Eunhye could not do anything but watch, and the feeling of helplessness made her clench her fists hard.
Then the monsters, upon finishing their feast on the awakened heroes, glanced at me and exited the dungeon.
“Everything is going well,” I thought.
I nodded.
The monsters’ attack was a part of my grand plan.
The fewer witnesses there were, the better.
A small number of witnesses would help me manipulate stories more easily later. Even if rumors leaked, they would not matter too much. After all, not that many knew my face. And for those who knew me, I technically “revived” during this conquest.
As a result of my rescue, Kim Yongwoo would be more influential in the guild. Since he was on my side, if I asked him for a favor, people would not know anything about this conquest besides my revival.
“Let us hurry. We do not have much time before the dungeon collapses.”
Boom!
The dungeon was slowly falling apart.
When I took the lead, other members of the guild followed.
