Upon seeing that, Nancy tried to wake Kathleen up. “Kathy, wake up! Ms. Jennings is here!”
Kathleen was very sleepy and shifted into a new pose and continued sleeping.
Nancy’s face went white. “This is bad!”
Tina walked up to Kathleen, her expression tensed up, her red lips tightly pursed. She raised her book in the air and knocked Kathleen on her head. “Student, wake up!”
Kathleen sat up abruptly as she felt the pain in her head. When she lifted her eyes and saw Tina, she said, slightly impatiently, “What?”
Tina was boiling with rage as she saw how rude Kathleen was acting. “How dare you speak to me like that when you fell asleep in my class?”
Kathleen kept her head low and did not answer. She was so tired that all she wanted was to sleep.
Tina wore a grim expression on her face as she pointed at Kathleen and said harshly, “Since you don’t want to learn, go clean the toilets!”
All the students were holding their breath as they had their eyes fixed on Kathleen.
It was so quiet in the classroom that one would surely hear a pine needle drop.
Kathleen took one look at Tina, but she remained in her seat.
Tina reprimanded, “I told you to clean the toilets! Did you not hear me?”
Kathleen continued to be silent. She just stood there quietly, as though Tina was actually talking to the other student.
Tina’s anger ran riot within her, her face screwed up in fury. She pointed her finger at Kathleen and yelled, “How dare you! Call your parents right now and tell them to come to the university! I’d like to see who are the ones who raised you and taught you to be so stubborn!”
Kathleen had been studying at this university for more than a year and heard a lot of rumors about Mad Tina. On the other hand, Tina had just been assigned to teach Kathleen’s class, so she was unaware of the student’s background. She insisted on treating them with her usual strictness.
Kathleen’s fatigue went away the moment she was asked to call her parents. She lowered her head, grabbed a piece of cloth, walked out of the classroom and headed to the toilet.
Nonetheless, John’s assistant, Karl, still received a call from the university.
John’s company stood on a prime location in Hillford, occupying an area of several hundreds of thousands of square feet. The building was huge and spectacular.
The name “Lambert Group” was inscribed at the top of the building, glowing and glistening under the sun’s rays.
John was having a meeting with the executive-level managers in a large conference room on the 26th floor.
He sat on the head chair, wearing a black business suit. His face was gorgeous, but his expression was cold, his long, slender legs neatly placed together under the desk, giving off a compelling aura.
“Your turn, Mr. Burton!” John looked up and fixed his gaze on the sales manager, Tom Burton.
Mr. Burton slightly shuddered upon hearing his name. Shocked, he stood up abruptly but lost his footing and fell back into his chair.
People around him broke into laughter but were instantly silenced by John’s cold gaze.
That was how scary John was. He could easily give others a sense of pressure even without uttering a single word.
These executive-level managers who always rode a high horse outside were like a primary school student, intimidated into silence whenever he was around.
Tom wiped away the sweat on his forehead, projected his laptop on the large screen, and was about to present the sales performance of the season.
Just then, there came a knock on the door.
Everyone looked up and saw Karl hastened inside the conference room.
He took a look at everyone, then walked up to John and whispered, “Mr. Lambert, I just received a call from the university saying that something has happened to Ms. Yates.”
“The meeting is adjourned!” John said coldly as he put down the document in his hands, a frown marred his brow.
Upon saying that, he rose to his feet and left the conference room in big strides. Karl followed right behind him.
The people who remained in the conference room quickly relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief as they watched them leave.
‘Oh my God, the Great Satan has finally left.’
Karl had the car ready for John outside the building. John opened the car door and ordered the driver, “Go to the university.”
The driver nodded his head and the car sped toward the university.
The Lambert Group was not far away from Hillford University, so it only took him about ten minutes to reach the university.
Without dilly-dallying, John went straight to the Student Affairs Department.
Meanwhile, Kathleen had finished cleaning the toilet and was waiting for John in the office.
When Tina saw John walking over, she turned to Kathleen and asked, “He’s your guardian?”
Kathleen nodded her head.
As soon as John stepped into the office, Tina went up to him and asked, “As Kathleen’s guardian, do you know that your kid has been sleeping in class every day?”
John completely ignored Tina, and his gaze fell upon Kathleen. After seeing that she was all safe and sound, he felt relieved and took a seat on the sofa.
“Not only did she fall asleep in class and pay no attention to the lecture, but she also refused to comply with my order when I told her to clean the toilets as punishment! She even gave me an attitude!”
Tina sneered, “Only when I told her to call her parents to come to the university did she do as I said. She’s so unruly and arrogant!”
Upon hearing that, John finally lifted his head and glanced at the woman standing in front of him.
The woman was wearing dark glasses and an old-fashioned suit, her body round and plump, her dark skin slightly tacky.
John glared coldly at Tina. “You made my kid clean the toilets?”
Upon saying that, he darted his gaze over to Kathleen and saw her hands flush red from the cold.
He rose to his feet and slowly walked toward Tina, his eyes cold, a strong aura exuding from his body.
Tina gulped and said, “Yes, everyone should be punished for their mistakes!”
John broke into a smile that did not quite reach his eyes. “You’re right. Everyone should be punished for their mistakes!”
“Pass this message to Michael Groff! You are to clean the toilets for the whole semester, or you’ll be kicked out of the university!” John said as he pointed at Tina; his voice was cold, ice cruel.
