Deadly Doting Marriage Novel - Chapter 77
Chapter 77: Kathleen Is Not Luther’s Child
Kathleen returned to Crafield to continue her schooling after leaving the Lambert family’s residential villa.
The students from Crafield University had learned of the incident between Kathleen and John. However, the reaction was different from the students of Hillford. They were more curious than disgusted.
Samantha was so shocked, and it was almost like she had discovered a new continent. She chased after Kathleen every day, asking, “Are you really John’s adopted daughter?”
“Are there really four men fighting after you, and two are dead and one injured?”
“You’re so amazing. You actually single-handedly turned the entire Hillford upside down.”
Samantha propped her chin on her hand and looked at Kathleen curiously. “The news said that you’re a siren who seduced four men. However, that seemed to be stretching the truth a little bit too much, isn’t it?”
Although the two of them had not known each other for long, Samantha had more or less understood her.
She was good-looking and had good grades. She was the first in the class, and she never acted like a demon.
Every day, she would sit in class and study, or she would be daydreaming. She was quiet and did not speak much, and her temperament was gentle.
No matter how hard she tried, she could never be associated with those flirtatious and scheming girls on the internet.
Kathleen’s expression was indifferent. “I never pay attention to the comments of others!
No matter how the internet had demonized her, she had never allowed it to affect her because she would not waste her time on unimportant people.
Samantha gave her a thumbs up. “Amazing, mental strength is amazing. I will also learn from you and ignore those people who say that I’m infatuated!”
Samantha’s words amused Kathleen.
The atmosphere of Crafield University and Hillford University was really different. It was not so competitive, and the students were all kind.
Kathleen was able to study very well here. This was delightful.
After school, Kathleen carried her backpack and returned to the apartment.
The maid had already prepared dinner for her. After eating dinner, Kathleen returned to her bedroom.
At this moment, her phone vibrated.
Kathleen took out her phone and opened it. It was a message from Bach.
[I would have never expected an ordinary girl like you would have such a complicated background!]
Kathleen sent a question mark and replied.
[What do you mean]
[I’ve been helping you investigate the car accident. Do you know what I found out?]
Bach mysteriously replied.
[I found out that you’re not Luther Yates’s child!]
Kathleen was slightly shocked, and her eyes widened in disbelief.
[What are you talking about? How can I not be his child?]
[Luther Yates isn’t married, and he doesn’t have a woman. How can you be his child? It’s obvious that your birth is a secret!]
Bach’s words caused Kathleen’s heart to start churning, and memories of the past came flooding back.
She still remembered that it was when she was five years old.
When she reached the age of five, Luther sent her to the Sunshine Kindergarten.
Kathleen started playing with the children and had not noticed anything wrong.
As time passed, Kathleen realized that all the children around her had their mothers to pick them up. She was the only one whose mother had not picked her up.
The five-year-old Kathleen asked Luther naively, “Daddy, all the children in kindergarten have a mother. Why don’t I have a mother?”
Luther sighed slightly and said gently, “Your mother died when she gave birth to you, so you don’t have a mother anymore!”
When Kathleen heard this, she cried out, “But all the children have a mother. Why am I the only one who doesn’t have a mother?”
Luther’s heart ached as he hugged Kathleen. “You have it too. Father will be your father as well as your mother!”
Kathleen cried and nodded after listening to what he said.
After that, Kathleen began to ask about her mother. However, Luther was very sad every time she brought it up. Sometimes, he would turn around and wipe away his tears.
Kathleen did not want to see her father’s sad face, so she slowly stopped asking about her mother.
Until one day, when she came home from school, she heard her neighbors gossiping.
Emma shouted at the top of her voice, “Look at the fate Luther has!”
“He worked so hard during the day, and he still has to raise a child. He had to be a father and mother at the same time!”
Joanne sighed. “Isn’t that ao? A few days ago, I saw how pitiful he was. I wanted to set him up with someone, but he was so angry that he rejected it on the spot!”
“How rude! He had a child before he was even married. We pitied him and tried to set him up with a woman. Why is he angry? What right does he have to be angry?”
Joanne chewed on her melon seeds and mocked, “Who says so! He’s probably afraid that the woman won’t treat that girl well! What a weirdo, wasting such good looks!”
At that time, when the neighbor was gossiping, Kathleen was only seven years old. A seven-year-old child clearly had not understood anything, but Kathleen remembered this scene very clearly.
Kathleen only remembered her father.
It was her father who bought her delicious food, beautiful clothes and brought her out to play.
It was her father who sent her to school, washed her clothes, and took care of her daily necessities.
It was her father who was both a father and a mother who raised her until she was eight years old.
If Luther was really what Emma and Joane said to be, then would she be her father’s biological daughter?
At this moment, Kathleen’s heart started to clench.
In the evening, the breeze blew gently, and the setting sun dyed the horizon red.
A car slowly drove to the entrance of the Lambert’s residence villa.
Waverly opened the car door and walked straight into the Lambert’s residence villa.
After John was imprisoned, Rachel had not eaten or slept well.
Knowing that John had come out, Rachel asked Waverly to pay him a visit.
Waverly looked at Barkley standing in front of her and raised her eyebrows. “Where’s John?”
Barkley said gently, “Young master is in the study!”
“Oh!” Waverly nodded and went straight to the second floor.
As soon as she entered the second floor, Waverly smelled a strong smell of alcohol.
She looked at Barkley in confusion. “Have he been drinking?”
Barkley sighed. “Ms. Lewis, why don’t you go in and take a look?”
Waverly glanced at Barkley and pushed open the door of John’s study.
The smell was much worse.
Not only does it smell of alcohol, but smoke as well, making Waverly almost gasp for breath.
She coughed violently for a long time, pinched her nose, and hurriedly opened the window of the study.
A gust of wind blew past, which made her nose feel a little better.
“John?” Waverly looked up and saw John. She was stunned in disbelief. “John, what happened?”
