Deadly Doting Marriage Novel - Chapter 71
Chapter 71: My Father Was Framed
Kathleen looked at him for a long time and said softly, “Thank you, Young Master!”
“You’re welcome!” John looked at Kathleen and said in a deep voice, “From now on, I don’t want to force you into doing anything. You can tell me what you want to do, but you absolutely can not leave me!”
“And most importantly, you’re not allowed to marry Carlos.”
Kathleen raised her head. She looked into John’s deep eyes and fell silent.
Kathleen turned on the television after dinner because she did not have homework that day.
The television series “Forbidon Love” was on. It was a love story between a couple destined to be apart. They hated each other but soon found love. It was a very popular television series.
After John washed up, he sat beside Kathleen, and the two of them watched television together.
Kathleen had not realized anything at first. Only when the television series ended, did she realize that John had accompanied her for two hours.
An indescribable feeling instantly rose in Kathleen’s heart.
Young Master had really changed. In the past, he would definitely not waste his time watching this kind of television series.
However, he had accompanied her to watch it for so long.
Kathleen looked at his handsome side profile and thought of their current relationship. She bit her lip and said, “Young master, if I can prove that my father was framed back then and that he did not kill your parents, will you let me go?”
John looked at Kathleen in surprise. “What had you found out? It was Luther who caused the car accident back then.”
Kathleen said in a low voice, “Someone else was driving the car. My father wasn’t the one driving. He was sitting in the passenger seat. After that, that person used an unknown method to threaten my father to take the blame for him.”
“Someone else ran over your parents. He’s in Hillford right now.”
John looked at Kathleen and frowned.
She’s digging into the past? Why would she?
He lost a leg when his parents died, and there were two people in the van.
Luther Yates himself admitted that he was driving the car.
VVhy did Luther not defend himself when the police questioned him if he had a grievance?
He confessed to the crime immediately. Now she said he was a scapegoat. That does not make any sense.
Kathleen looked at the change of expression on John’s face and said in a low voice, “Young Master, everything I said is true. If you don’t believe me, you can investigate it.”
John stood up and said in a cold voice, “Okay, I will investigate this matter.” He also wanted to know the truth.
John drove to the Lambert Group the next morning. When he reached the office, he immediately called Karl in.
“Mr. Lambert, what are your orders?”
John looked at him and said coldly, “Go investigate the car accident that happened ten years ago!”
Karl Jordan was slightly stunned. “The car accident that happened more than ten years ago? Wasn’t the case closed?”
“There are still some missing holes in the case.”
“Okay, Mr. Lambert, I understand. I’ll do it right away!” After Karl said that, he nodded and turned around to leave.
After Karl left, John fell into deep thought.
It was not that he did not believe what Kathleen said, but the police had already closed the case.
Now, Kathleen was saying that Luther was not the real murderer. No matter how he thought about it, he felt that something was not right.
Kathleen wanted to run away from her debts, or was there really something he missed? He would only know when the investigation results came out.
Soon came the night of thanksgiving, where every family would be reunited for dinner.
With the arrival of thanksgiving, Barkley bought decorations and had the servants hang them in the garden.
The garden was soon decorated with red and orange, and it looked very festive.
John would invite Rachel and her family to the Lambert’s residential villa for the holidays after the death of his parents.
This year, Kathleen lived in the Crafield. Although she was not living in the Lambert’s residential villa, she still returned to Hillford for the festival.
After school, she got into the driver’s car and went straight to the Lambert’s residential villa.
John, Rachel, Matthew, and Waverly were sitting together and talking in the living room.
After seeing Kathleen had arrived, Waverly looked at her mockingly. “Why is Kathleen back?”
“Sometimes, I find it really strange. There are some people who are clearly not related to the Lambert family by blood, but they are always lingering in Lambert’s residence.”
“Thanksgiving is a time for a family reunion. Who would want to spend the day with a fool like you who is not related by blood?”
Rachel scolded, “Waverly, stop your insults. Kathleen grew up in Lambert’s residence. She is also our family!”
“I don’t have any stupid relatives like that. I only have a cousin beside you!”
“Waverly…” Rachel could only apologize to Kathleen for Waverly’s actions. “Kathleen, Waverly isn’t sensible. Don’t hold a grudge with her!”
“I am fine!” Kathleen said.
“Kathleen, come here!” John looked at Kathleen and waved at her, asking her to sit beside him.
Rachel looked at Kathleen’s current appearance and asked gently, “Kathleen, are you not doing well in school? Why do you look thinner?”
The Kathleen before was already very thin, and now her chin looks even sharper than before.
There were no fats under her chin, which made her eyes seem even bigger, and even more beautiful.
Kathleen was just about to reply when Waverly, who was at the side, said, “Heh, we all knew what happened. She caused the deaths of three promising youths, and everyone is gossiping about her.”
“Now she’s hiding in Crafield, feeling guilty about it. It’d be weird if she weren’t thin!”
Rachel said, “Waverly, watch your mouth. Kathleen studying in Crafield and not in Hillford had nothing to do with it!”
“Well, she should feel bad even though she is not studying in Hillford.”
One of them was her admirer and was pushed down the cliff by the other two.
The other two were her lapdogs and were killed by animals.
“How can there be a jinx like you in this world? Wherever you go, you bring harm to others!”
Waverly glared at Kathleen and spat, “I hate you!”
“If you really hate her, then don’t spend the holidays in Lambert’s residence!”
John looked at Waverly coldly. “If you don’t welcome Kathleen, then no one here welcomes you!” When Waverly heard these words, she was instantly stunned on the spot.
She had fought with Kathleen for so many years, and she had always taken pleasure in insulting her. John had never stopped her before.
What happened to John? Why did he speak up for Kathleen?
Waverly hugged Rachel aggrievedly. “Mom, John actually said that about me!”
Rachel was also a little embarrassed. She glanced at John, then patted Waverly’s hand. Rachel said gently, “Stop fooling around. What your cousin said was right. Kathleen is also a part of this family. You can’t keep bullying her!”
“Who bullied her? It was her that bullied me!”.
